DO THEY HAVE TO PLACED A CERTIN WAY AS FOLDERS OR ANYTHING. THEY GAMES ARE ARE IN FOLDERS WITH THERE NAMES ON THEM, OR DO THEY HAVE TO BE IN THE MAIN ROOT, LIKE MY GAMES ARE IN ( GO TO GAMES FOLDER, THEN GO TO GHOSTBUSTERS FOLDER, AND THERE YOU WOULD FIND THE GAME)
The best thing I found was that the USB Loader has a homepage (google it) and explains everything. I believe you have to put a DISC in the Wii and then plug in your drive. It will partition it in the WII's format (NOT NTSC OR FAT32). You will then tell the USB loader to "Rip" the game from the disc to the drive.

I'm not 100% sure thats all but it's what I got out of the FAQ

Quick question. Do games update automatically or do I have to say yes? If I put a Pal game in will it ask for an Update or will it just go all Updatey on me and try to brick me?

So I did the following steps:

- Updated to 4.0
- Installed HBC using BannerBomb
- Applied the IOS 60 patch
- Installed cIOS rev13b

Wii Shop channel is not working. Every time I go in, I get a black screen.

What should I do?

I thought maybe the IOS60 patch caused the issue, so I installed a -trucha IOS60 using WiiSCU. That didn't fix the issue.
I don't know what else I can do.

EDIT:
Actually, never mind. I somehow just got it to work... I think the Wii wasn't properly reset after the IOS60 -trucha install. After I turned it off and turned it back on, the Wii Shop began to work.

Since I have no plans to play trucha games or use trucha channels, just use Backup Launcher, I'm just going to leave the IOS60 as is.

Read the guide. it tells you how to update it.

@brptdoc1
Some USB devices work and some don't. You can google for a USB Compatibility list. I also think there was one posted earlier in the thread.

Ok, I've followed the guide all the way down to the GC Backups section, and completed it. The only "problem" I had was the cIOS rev7 would not install no matter what.

I have a Wii serial key is the right key, L35 or something or other. 4.0 FW, I used to have Backup Launcher 1.0.3 with WiiGator's Backup Launcher 0.3 Gamma, before G I had Beta. Seeing this guide I decided I would erase all of the data on the wii of the softmod stuff, and the SD card, and try to do a fresh install so I could have channels, and not require the SD card and free it up for my fiancee to use in her camera. Homebrew channel seems to work fine but the backup launcher however does not. No matter what is inserted whether it be a Wii or GC game, the Gamma Launcher freezes before any text pops up only the Gamma Launcher logo shows. Any idea what the hell is going on? I use Memorex DVD-R, and they all worked magnificently beforehand.

EDIT: Ok, I removed my GC memory card, and controller and the backup launcher is now working - so how the hell would I play my GC backups...?? Sorry if it's blatantly obvious.

GC backups reset the Wii when started from the Disc Channel and do nothing else, the Gamma freezes with any GC accessories attached which I figured...

When launching a Wii game from the Disc Channel and starting I get "An error has occured. Press the Eject Button, remove the Game Disc, and turn the power off. Please read the Wii operations manual for more information." They do work however from WiiGators Gamma Launcher...??
I did a System Format, after backing up all of my save data, and re did the Guide. I forgot to input my wireless settings for the Downgrader IOS35, and it wouldn't ever work no matter how many times I formatted the Wii over and over. Aynways, I gave the Downgraded the finger and moved on. Again just like last time the CIOSr7 still wouldn't go, so I trudged on. I now have everything apparently working. GC games launch from the Disc Channel, and so do Wii, the backup launcher also no longer freezes with GC cards or controllers plugged in, and everything's bright as a whistle it even recognizes multi-iso GC backups, allowing you to flip flop between discs/games :)

Thanks Larry!! Very helpful.

You will get the error for DowngraderIOS35 if you have already installed it.

If you are running WiiGator with no issues then there is no need to worry about installing CIOSr7. You evidently have a cIOS installed already if your using WiiGator with no issues.

Yeah I think you misunderstood me. I'm trying to load it via the backup launcher, not the USB loader. I just want to play the backup and I'm getting that problem, not trying to install it. Any fix?

For those that want a #002 fix for Wiigator go HERE and download a #002 fix wad or dol and install it (Uninstall the old Wiigator 0.3 gamma channel).

You can use the Youtube video he links to files. Just put it in a wad folder and run it. I actually left the old Gator installer on that too.

Works for me. I think running wads is pretty safe in comparison to all the other stuff we installed to get to this point

I used that link last night but it was a bit over my head. So many options. I think the Youtube video is a good way to go at least for me. It gives 1 option and it worked fine for me

Why should it be over your head?

Just download the #002 error fix wad channel you want and install it with WAD Manager.

Uninstall the other channel using Wii System Settings.

There just seem to be a bunch of options. Are alot of those options just Skins and Audio? Thats why I didn't go that route I couldn't decide what the difference between no auto boot or the Skins were. Anyways cool.

Is there a problem that I left the old launcher on there?

I was on 3.4 with cIOS36 rev10 and I updated to 4.0 using the Nintendo Servers and now when I start The Homebrew Channel I get a black screen. Any idea on how to proceed?

lookup the usb compatibility guide that a couple of people have mentioned. I for example used the Western Digital MyPassport 320GB. You cant use larger than 500GB without re-partitioning the drive in 500GB increments. Use the WFSB Manager on your Windows box to format the USB drive and copy .iso images to it directly if your are using that method or use the USBloader directly to import your original disks.

That link doesn't work for me. So I can't watch the video. Can someone just give me a normal link?

Also I agree, that website was extremely complicated for somebody who doesn't really know what they are doing. If someone could just tell me the best one to download it would be appreciated, or once again, the video. Thanks again guys.

Alright I am always trying to improve my guides to make them better.

Some changes have been made.

Including a Wiigator 0.3 gamma #002 fix channel.

I am also going to have a dedicated thread for USB Loader GX. So PLEASE reply to the new dedicated thread which is HERE. DO not ask USB Loader questions in this thread anymore.

I hope this guide is an improvement over the last one.

Those that want to update to a Wiigator 0.3 gamma #002 fix channel and have already softmodded their system can download the new update softmod pack and drag the WG3g002fix.wad file to your wad folder and install it with WAD Manager.

i've done all the mods except the last one which instructs me in installing bootmi. but i just can't seem to get it to work

i hope someone can clarify.

i've downloaded the hackmii installer and the instructions say to unzip it into the sd card. at this point, i didn't know whether it was ok to put the folder into my sd card with the other things from the mod or if i needed to format the sd card first.

also, am i supposed to put the folder in my sd's root directory or just the 4 files inside the hackmii zip.

i've done a few variations and whenever i go into the homebrew channel, there is no option to install anything.

the instructions also said to rename the installer file to boot.elf. Is this done right after i move the files into the SD card or is it done during the installion somehow.

thank you.

Read the directions again.

It clearly says what to do.

Plus where does it say to install Bootmii in this guide?
