You need Wii Motion Plus to play the game. If you don't have it then the game will not boot.
I am not 100% sure since I boot my games from USB Loader but you might also need to use an alt-dol file to load the game from disc like I had to for the USB loader.
Also enable the #002 error setting.
What region is the game and what region is your Wii system?

Just wanted to report incase anyone is having the same problems:
Well I just updated my wii to 4.1u after i used this guide because i wanted the sdhc support. I updated the old fashioned way through nintendo. Everything seems to be okay. Homebrew channel didn;t work at first so I uninstalled then reinstalled it. Thats works fine now.
The only change I saw was Im using Neogamma r6 back uploader and I've had Mad World in my Wii for a while and the Disc Channel looks like there's nothing in the drive. But now after the update at the Disc channel Its shows mad world, but when I clicked start I got a 002 error, not a big deal though because I use Neogamma and that seems to be launching it just fine.
One issue I am having that maybe someone can help me with is when I click on the little SD card on the bottom left of the screen when at the main channels screen. It gives me some warnings about sd and save files then my wii freezes. Anyone know whats going on? Is there a certian format I need to use. Im using FAT32. also is there a certian directory structure i need to set up. I'm using a 32gb sd card loaded with .wad's i got from a friend. I have all the .wad's in sd:/wad/[game_name].wad, help please
Thanks in advance,
Tony E.

they are both pal as far as i know the wii is def euro pal and the game all i know is what i read on the dl info, but maybe the motion plus is the answer, just seems strange i got 2 different error messages, ie the read error and the just nothing burning in 2 different ways
thanks for your time :)

Yeap if you don't have Wii Motion Plus then the game will not play. Even if you get Wii Motion Plus you will still probably have to use the alt-dol file to play the how to video before playing the game.
To get this you will need to load the ISO into Wii Scruber and then go to...
Partion2-DATA> sys> mpls_movie> and save player.dol
After you save player.dol rename it to RZTP.dol and place it in the NeoGamma folder that should be in the root of the SD card.
Now before launching the game change the settings to enable #002 error fix and enable the boot alternate.dol file. After you watch the movie and play the game for the first time you can then disable the boot alternate.dol file but keep the #002 error enabled.

I posted earlier, but not sure anyone saw it... any help??
So I am new to all the modding stuff. your instuctions were great!
I've got the gamma channel now.
I tried playing mario kart that i burned onto a dvd-rw using the channel, but it didnt work? any reason?
(i didnt install dvd-x, do i need it?)
i have a few more questions,(im just trying to learn all this)
the usb loader is only a forwarder? is there a way to load it as a channel? (right now i dont have extra sd cards around)
also is there any difference doing the last step? and how do i know if i have a ntsc-u or pal system?
Can bootmii be used with all this to back up? (i guess i need a separate sd card for a back up?)
Do the games stay in .iso format on the usb? (i still have to load the usb package)
Thanks for all your help!

Use DVD-R not DVD-RW media.
Do a google search for the USB Loader GX wad file itself. They are out there but you will need to serach and find one yourself.
Yes you can install Bootmii.
The ISO are transfered to the WBFS formated Hard Drive but only the needed data is trasnfered so the size of games will very depending on how much data is actually used for the game itself.

Make sure the bannerbomb exploit has been delete from your SD card.
It is located in the private folder.
So go to sd:\private\Wii\Title directory and delete the aktn folder.
The SD card should now boot without freezing.

thanks larry everything works great now this tutorial is best and your moderation and feedback is top notch.
all i did was delete the boot.elf file and everything seems to be working nicely. I guess Ill go ahead and delete the banner bomb exploit also since you recomend it.
While I'm here i might as well ask another question, i recently aquired Onslaught.wad and it installed fine using wad manager 1.4 but when i try to load it from the wii channels menu i go to a black screen and nothing works my wii-motes turn off the reset button doesn't work on the wii and i have to hold the power button for 4 seconds to turn off the wii. anyone else having this issue? whats the fix?

Dvddumper 1.2 doesn't support SDHC or at least I couldn't get it to support mine.
My question is do games have to run through neogammaR6 (IOS249 Rev.12)? I ask because I use it and my games run fine but I can't get online while using it. I let my brother borrow the copy I bought so we can play online together. Sometimes I get an error message and sometimes it just freezes. One thought of mine is that this game may just have bad servers.

Hi larrylje,
I?m very new to Wii, I just bought one for my son and the sales man told me it is a Korean made (NTSC & PAL) and it doesn?t need any hardware modifications to operate downloaded software. I followed few of your posts and guides but I only found the ones for EUR and USA. Are there any specific guide for the Korean one?
Also, is it a must to have a SD card or I can do the whole thing using USB memory?
Thank you very much for your efforts and thanks in advance,

Hey just wanted to say thanks for the write up. Very easy to follow. I managed to go all the way through it with no issues on my wii..
Although I did have a question about a friends wii I helped him out with.
his firmware was 4.1u I read that this method still works for that firmware. When I get to the Downgrade IOS35 I run the .wad and can select ios35 in the list but once I hit "A" to go to the next step and select the sd as the source the wii freezes. I noticed that the wiimote lights go out as if they lost contact with the wii... what should I do? I have checked and there is a solid network connection. I noticed that the wii will still play an original wii sports but I think we just got a black screen when we tried to play an original call of duty 4.
PLease Please any info would help a bunch I feel bad like I might have screwed up a good friends wii ..
Mind over matter

Well after lots of reading I was ready to give this a go on my PAL wii. Its quite new but doesn't have the serial numbers that you can't use (mine is LEH25)
Anyway I have updated via wifi to 4.1 and then copied the files onto my 2GB Scandisk SD card (I've tried it formatted in windows at FAT and FAT32) as described and then go into the SD card section of the wii.
It says there is no SD card present and then I have pushed it in as per the instructions BUT nothing happens?!?
It does register there is a SD card inserted but only shows a load of free blocks.
I really hope there is something obvious I am doing wrong 'cos I feel a bit embarrassed asking seeing as I have fallen at the first hurdle!
My SD card is structured as followed (SD root after formatting).
apps (folder with the 5 apps folders)
wad (folder with 4 wad files)
private (folder I created and put content.bin in)
boot.elf (in the root which is the re-named file)
What am I doing wrong?? Please help!

Hey larry take a gander at this page
http://www.yafaze.com/forums/viewtopic.p...78&p=9923#p9923
It works well even for Lu64's and the best part is it's all offline. I followed this guide for a granny ( With a very excited grandson) and it worked beautifully. Took me about 10 mins.
The result is you will have homebrew, neogamma, and Bootmii ( if you decided to use it and you should!) It does NOT update your Wii to 4.x
(but if you want update your Wii before you hack it, you can)

Enable #002 error in settings. If this is an import then it may not be compatible. More info on the game a region would be helpfull.

Is there a way to force the loader on this guide to use PAL instead of NTSC video? I have a US Wii, and would like to be able to play PAL backups on my system. A friend of mine has a different loader and is able to force it to play PAL on his NTSC Wii.
Thanks.

Use FORCE NTSC setting on PAL backups if you have a USA Wii system.

hey i desperately need help. ok so i followed all of the instructions, i now have everything installed on my wii. homebrew channel, neogamma, did all the cISO stuff, etc etc. i also did the extra step at the end, using the ISO Downgrader. well, when i restarted my wii, i go to the main screen with all the channels. on the normal disc channel, it says Wii System Update. when i click on it, it says that i have to update in order to play games. then it says, if you have made any unauthorized changes to your wii, this update may cause my wii to stop function correctly... is this normal? do i just update anyways? i have firmware 4.0U right now... please help!
