Start up the drive and then start up Jungle Flasher. Go to the DVDkey tab and make sure your Lite-ON is detected. Click LO83 info and it will ask you to put the tray in half status. So eject the drive, unplug the DVD drive's power cable, push the tray half way in, and plug the DVD drive's power cable back in. Click OK on the screen and you will see some dots come across. The next pop up will say to fully eject the tray. So hit the eject button and it will shut the tray. Hit the eject button 1 more time and the tray will be ejected fully. Click OK on the box. Some more dots will go across. It will have you repeat that process 1 more time (half tray then fully eject). Once you have done those steps, it will ask you to save the Inquiry, Identify, and Dummy bin.

Are you using your motherboard SATA or a VIA SATA card?

Everytime I disconnect the power to the drive to do the halfway, it becomes undetectable on the ports. What am I doing wrong? I am doing it through the xbox power. Not with the connection unit. Everytime I try this i get an error. I have tried booting it up with the drive in halfway, that doesnt work either. I would show a pic, but dont know how to.

When I removed the via drivers my card isnt detected. I havent a clue how to fix this. Tried to erase on the sata port but werent there. When you said remove the drivers, did you mean both, if I have them or just 1 or the other?

Tutorials like this should be made a permanent post at the top like the Rules, make it less ridiculous having tons of threads with the same kind of questions.

I'm getting a little nervous on getting a bad key and thinking of getting another dvd drive to spoof the information first.
Is there a certain model drive I should look into purchasing to do this with?
I see messages saying any will work or some won't work from one model to another which left me a little confused.
Also if the spoofed drive works, do people normally just use that drive then? Is there a reason to flash the original drive then?
Any help would be appreciated and of course thanks in advance for the help.

Honestly, extracting/decrypting 74850C and 83850C Lite-ON keys, I've never had any bad keys. I know a couple of people that never spoof when extracting/decrypting a key, and they have never had an issue. It is just a precaution, and if you have an extra drive to spoof to, why not? You can spoof any drive, I prefer BenQ.

I know this might be a bit of a noob question, but how exactly do you check which Lite-on drive you have? I have one in my xbox, but I am unsure if it is STOCK 83850C or 74850C.
Is there anywhere on the drive that states whether it is one or the other, or do I need to check in some other way? I'd like to be able to confirm before I start wiring things up...
Apologies for my ignorance!

It's a second hand refurbed off of eBay.
I opened it up last night and the date on the drive is February 2009 - which having looked about, suggests might be the older firmware which requires more work?
On a separate point, I have an old Xbox (RROD) with flashed Sammy dvd drive. Is there a tutorial somewhere detailing how to replace the Xbox with Lite-on drive with the old Sammy? Seems like an easier solution?

Since the driver date is feb 2009 most probably it has to 7 series lite-on because 8 series lite-on were released in may/june.It not that hard to put newer firmware over older one.Just follow this guide

Thanks for the link, but that is for pre-flashed Lite-on drives. Mine is not. For flashing STOCK drives it seems you need the CK3 Lite/Pro and Probe kit?
Is there a way to upgrade a STOCK 74850C drive with the new 8-firmware, and then flash it using the STOCK 83850C tutorial within this thread?

my bad,I thought yours was already flashed.Yes for flashing 7 series u need probe.I suggest you to open up the drive and check it out the exact model at least that way ur sure what to buy,u dont need to buy a probe if its a 8 series lite on.
As far as the second question im not aware any such thing.
