2 of my friends got banned today and they had a lot of legit games one only had a few copies he hardly played.

Well I got banned a few hours ago (in UK)
I only got my 360 flashed about 3 weeks ago with iextreme 1.6.
Here is the total list of games played since flashing:
Forza 3 (but not before release date)
Guitar Hero 3
Guitar Hero 5
Fallout 3
Virtua Tennis
Soul Caliber
All checked and verified with agbx. I believe the games have nothing to do with it, and MS can check firmware now. Forza would be the only suspicious game I have played, but there are still many people banned who have not played that.
Oh well, lasted a short time but I knew the risk. Will keep this one for single player games so still has it's uses (and streaming movies).
Lesson learn't.....

just got banned 10 min's ago. i only play two games and there cod4 and cod5 can't understand they have been out for age's. never played any game before it's release day:-(

my friend got sky player and got banned straight away, my other friend got sky player the other day and got banned today, the other friend got it yesterday and was banned today, i didn't get it and i'm not banned. There is a ban wave and it could be anything ms do to catch people out.

People are being banned all over the world. The SKY player is only available in your region. It has absolutely nothing to do with it. It's just a coincidence.

maybe, but if anyone thinks it's coincidence and not a risk that's not banned give it a try. You never know what ms are logging and how.

its the games same as last year,and the year b4. its like sex u have birth control,condoms, and ppl that dont use ether. that stuf makes it safer but nothing is a 100%. condoms break leake pills sometime dont work .but most of the time it is human erro that gets you in the end. same thing the only safe way is abstinence. who wants to do that.so just take your shot like a man. all the money you saved some has to go back to ms. even the ones who rip the game ther self. u cant tell me you dont have game fly or block buster card. come who would risk getting ther consol band 4 nothing .i have had a 360 4years and it only missed up one game. thats bcuz my son knock it over.hay they do it same time every year 4 a reason .bcuz they know well go out and buy new ones b4 the year is out. hell i have went trough 4 all ready. and i havent ever benn banned. knock on wood becuz they just break. at lest ther pretty cheap now

Just turned on my 360 and I'm banned. I think MS may be able to detect drives because I just recently got a new drive in september and the only game I played was Madden 10 retail copy. I didn't even try to play a back up online yet. I hope this helps. Nothing you can do.

Ok, this is what seems to be going on, I've been reading a lot of threads and talking to everyone I know.
This is my theory because I only play backup games that I own and don't play before the release date and it always pass the security, but I was banned yesterday on Nov. 6th between 1:30p-9p in the West Coast area.
They first banned our 3rd party MU (I was pissed), then they banned our consoles. They staged those 2 things in order perfectly. Like some others, I don't believe it's due to games because my own brother has not played his xbox or even gone online for 2 months, and then went online yesterday around 9pm and was banned. I've played my games on his system only a couple of times and haven't played them since about 2-4 months ago.
So what does this mean, they probably already took the time to track all of our console id or serial #'s from the time we did play them and decided to do one big wave of banning, (right before X-MAS time)... why you ask, so we can all purchase new Xbox 360 consoles during the holidays and they get more money off of us.
It is a very smart marketing scheme and yes if want to be politically correct, we knew what we were getting ourselves into, but the price of games, MU, xbox360 keeps breaking, I can't keep giving them my money, so yes I will back up my games and so on. This is my 7th xbox I just purchased, because it keeps breaking from Red Ring of Death, and I've only modded it just recently about 5 months ago.
More information about the hard drive, since I just confirmed it about 30 minutes ago. - Yes, your gamertag will show corrupt but all you have to do is go into another console and recover it and then use M$ memory unit to transfer from legit xbox to modded... it still works back and forth... not sure about save games.
Do you want to know what the real problems is, it's not that we got caught or someone just made a bad rip... it's all of our faults because I'm sure Microsoft has teams to look at the underground sites, youtube, etc, etc... you can see how everyone talks about the programs they use to mod their system, little 12 year kids are evening talking about it on youtube. We need to keep it more a "hush hush" type of thing, because they are reading these threads, testing out how to mod their system at Microsoft headquarters most likely, working with their Engineers to read the firmware we are using because we all talk about it online so much, create a patch to force onto our consoles and now we are all ban. If you are not ban now, you will be soon, because they seem to keep doing it during the holiday time or possibly even big title releases.
Now I have 2 xbox, one to play mods and one to go online. I can really careless about achievements and all that, I just want to play my games and have fun. If I want to go online and play multi-player, I can do that on the other system... it's really not a big deal. I might even cancel my Live subscription and save $50 bucks because I think it's crazy that charge us for that, when it really should be free. I wouldn't even care if they ban my gamertag, I'll just create a new one, it's not like I'll go crazy if I lose my achievements, who cares about that honestly... I don't look at that and say I'm a hard gamer because of that or that's what makes me a man. You can hack your achievements too, that's why they banned 3rd Party MU with external micro sd card.
I definitely never ever will buy a xbox system again, nor if they come out with a new xbox system and call it xbox 720... I'm going to stick with my PS3 and play online for FREE, like how it really should be. The only reason why we like Xbox so much is because of the User Interface (UI) is easier to navigate with than a PS3 or WII. Other than that and Ha1o games, we really have no reason to play on xbox console. The PS3 now plays Netflix movies, of course Blu Ray, and no stupid annoying microsoft points.
At least PS3 will tell you the dollar value of the price and let you even own the movie you downloaded. I have microsoft points, I always have to remind myself 80 microsoft points = $1, so 320 microsoft points = $4... they do this on purpose too because they don't want you to think about how much you are spending. It's a scheme, just like how they copy the idea of the WII system with their Microsoft Avatar, and copied Apple's UI design for their dashboard.
I use to love my xbox 360, now I'm just like the others and really hate it and tired of all of the restrictions... mainly I'm referring to 3rd party MU.
So now my brother, brother-in-law and 2 of my xbox systems with all 1.6 firmware have all been banned on the same day yesterday. Oh well, time to break out my Nintendo WII, PS3, and can care less about going online and to play xbox Live.
**Just be careful about the people who ask you questions on how to mod things, the person on the other end can actually be a Microsoft employee trying to learn what to do and create the next wave of bans.
***To any Microsoft employee reading this, your not really fooling anyone with your stupid patch updates. We know your out there trying to stay 1 step ahead of us by going underground, but all of us will always be 2 steps ahead of you.
