Help is appreciated!
have no idea what to tell you. Retail game disc of same region as system should not be effected.
So is my best bet then to uninstall the softmod? If you have no idea, then I'm clueless where else to start trying to fix the problem. I know you've said you won't prepare an uninstall guide but a) is it possible and b)can you recommend another place to find this info?

Because typing, "Yes", or "No" would have been less typing and far less egotistical. Your that new school edited by ddp.

Lets have a little fit because something wasn't handed to you on a silver plater. Yes it would have been as easy as saying yes or no but what point would that make? I wanted to make a point that if you payed attention and read the guide the question wouldn't have had to been asked in the first place.

Or, you could just be a edited by ddp and try to make your point. Either way, your viewed as a edited by ddp now.....enjoy your lustre. I tried to credit you with a fine job with the guide...did you say anything? No, but when it comes down to brass tacks.....your just a edited by ddp.

I upgraded from a softmodded 4.1 to 4.2 yesterday following Larrylje's guide and it all went smoothly without a problem. Just need to read, re-read and read again to make sure you know exactly what you need to do. If you follow the guide carefully and you can't go wrong. Thanks Larry!

I agree! I followed a few "guides" from other sites to no result. As long as you follow step by step you cant go wrong. Thanks to all of the people who are smarter than I :) who make mods like this possible!

smells like updog in here.

Hello,
Is it possible to complete this guide without Game Cube or other wired controller? Can I use instead an ordinary USB Game Pad or an USB Keyboard? I'm afraid to start this process with no Game Cube...

Thanks in advance!

The guide says what to do if you have no Gamecube Controler. READ THE GUIDE!

I'm new to the Wii Softmod scene. I have a Wii at 4.2U. I see a lot of reference to firmware 4.2 and I'm wondering if the U means anything. Is it actually a higher firmware than 4.2?

I guess my main question here is can I use this guide to softmod a 4.2U console?

Thanks!

The letter after the firmware # is what region the system is.

U means USA(North America).

So why not share what happened or what was tinkered then incase anyone else has the same problem.

As for uninstalling the mod, i'm no expert - but my first guess would be to 1) restore the nand backup we all made at the start, then 2)uninstall bootmii and HBC

I read the guide many times up to now, I even printed it out and studied, I know where is written to use power and reset buttons to navigate in menu, but if it doesn't work, what to do? Should I use only the original (or compatible) Gamecube Controller? I was interested only if the people that performed the hack used or not this specific controller.

Thank you, anyway, for the guide you made!

I have no GC controller and was able to navigate using power and reset - at the 2nd attempt though, first time they did nothing, I had to restart the process and it worked 2nd time round.

Also be carefeul to press the buttons only once at a time, as the commands "stack up" as it were. Meaning if you press power twice it will select the highlighted item -then on the next page select the highlighted item right away.

I have successfully completed this process !!!
what do I need to still have on my SD card for everything to work?
I assume I need to ALWAYS have the SD card in the wii, right?
I put everything on there I was supposed to, never deleted anything, and now when I goto data management, channels and click on SD card in there, the wii locks up..

So i need to delete sonething off of the sd card?

thanks

I just added a SD CARD CLEAN UP: section to the guide. Go to the first page of this thread and refresh it. Then follow the new section.

thanks for the fast response.

Could the freeze be a result of these files still being on the card?

Yes the freeze is due to the private folder (bannerbomb).

As i mentioned before. i have followed your guide to the T and did not get a single error. Im am very thankful because of your guide, however whenever i try loading the burned backups using IMG Burn, Neogamma 7 is still not loading them. We've had our Wii since Q3 of 2008 so i should have the old optical drives.

I have tried with 5 different backups and still no luck. I have also scoured the net as to what speeds should i be burning the .iso's and have tried the following speeds x2 x3 x4 on DVD-R and DVD+R but none of them works. Neogamma keeps on telling me "DVD Error Code 1101"

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you once again!
If you followed it to a T then either...

You have a drive that will not play game backups.

Or your backup for some reason is not being made properly.

I don't know what else you want me to tell you.
@ larrylje

I got it working now.. What i did is burn the .iso files in IMG Burn at 1x speed and it works!!! I even used the cheapoo DVD+R from Jessops. :)

Thanks again for your guide. Cheers!

Oh by the way.. i have a game but its 4.67 GB. When i try burning it says no enough space?? will it still burn alright?? If not is there a way of reducing the file size?

THanks once again!! :)

Hermes' IOS 222/223:

Launch the HBC and load the cIOS 222 installer.
Press A at the warning screen.
Select IOS249 to perform the install with D-pad left/right and push A
Select to Install Custom IOS 222 and select IOS38 merged with IOS37.
Make sure you get installation complete.
If you do not and get an error then rerun this step again.

was wondering, i dont get errors. is it just a typo?
