Actually they are sold FTA receivers and no supplier supplies these boxes with software on them that is why its not illegal to sell them so it poses no threat to the sellers tha part of putting on the software is down to the customer and nothing to do with the seller what the customer decide to do with the box is there business after all its them that is modifing the equipment for receiving the channels.

And remember the box might include the price of the sub but its not advertised as that so no legalities for the seller they dont make the software for the box that is made by coders nothing that can point to the box maker

i suppose one thing the buyer needs to be careful of is not to be ordering boxes in bulk cause this will surely arouse suspition should the supplier ever be raided for whatever reason, then the authorities will come after the big buyer not the 1 off buyer whos has bought this box for educational purpuses only

People who are talking about the fuzz having your ip address when they find these servers are correct but make it seem like that could land them in trouble. Not likely to say the least.
Also how long has c/s being up and running in other countries and what problems have there been. I thought it's being in the States for along time.

actully there have been some very serious multimillion dollare lawsuits in the US over the last 3-4 years for IKS and theres another one about to go off very soon. biffo mate you missing the difference with cable and sat sharing when you say about no one getting coght in europe. the difference is for example you can be in germany and watch $ky satellite by putting an anonymmus dish up in ur back garden etc. but for irish cable you gotta have a physical connection and sub in your OWN HOUSE that is the difference. this is the first big time that cbale has been shared and you will all be physically connected to yewpc. when are you ever physically connected to $ky??

you dont think yewpc and vurgun are watching like hawks now much more than they were before. they know the dealers they know the importers they know the manufacturers all the usual suspects, they just watching and waiting. and dont think hiding behind fta boxes will work either they biggest english importer got totally fecked bigtime and they never sold with software or anything and he got done selling fta boxes but it is called concipracy to defraud. we are in a different world now than when it was all patch boxes with nag1 emulaters.

good luck to all whatever u choose and if u want to learn abot the hobby of sat CS then come on over to one of the forums all welcome but no spoonfeeding ;)

peace :)

I agree that the people who run the server for cable and some other people could well end up in trouble. I was trying to say that if the police get there hands on the thousands of ip addresses of the people using this service they are not going to do anything. I just thought people were suggesting otherwise.

Anybody else out there with one?
Hi, Thanks Kaibaboy, I am in Galway and like many and slow to invest as it seemed that Nagra 3 was invincible. Thanks for info, I will give it a try now. Anyone else in Galway up and running or considering? Daxon

Haven't heard from anyone setting up box in Galway, but if your SYM.RATE is 6887 you
should be OK.

I've got the eurovox 7000hd box and still working fine. Got my new v*rgin card two weeks ago and still no problems. Notice that the epg has improved better. Not sure if Dundee area has switched over as yet but so far so good

as soon as you get new card's its bye bye free tv it takes roughtly 3 weeks after the cards are sent out for it to happen you will notice it as channels will begin to disappear slowly when you see this happening you will then know.

All,

So it has been confirmed that the SV6 is working on 6887 areas. Some good news here at last for cable users.
Some of these topics have been raised over the last few pages in this thread in some form or another but I'd like to open the following assumptions/questions for clarification by those currently using the SV6...

1. I assume to use the SV6 (and avoid your IP being added to a list for potential prosecution) your ISP should NOT be NT*/Cho*us/U*C as they can easily detect the activity of your newly installed SV6???

2. Is it certain that singal quality/download thresholds will be affected by internet use/downloads etc??? Surely the SV is only using the internet to receive the required N3 codefiles & not using large volumes of bandwidth???

3. As there's no mention of it on any of the literature/product descriptions I assume the SV6 is not HD.

4. This 12 month internal clock/timeout - has this been encoded by StarView themselves to the box firmware or is it written into the firmware which is used after flashing the box???
Reason I ask is what if people just use this product for "out of the box use" i.e if they don't modify/flash it to get free channels...
Will it also expire after 12 months of normal use in this situation???

5. Finally & related to #4, do suppiers of the SV6 also supply the new firmware required to flash the box as part of the whole bundle or do buyers need to fetch this themselves??? I assume the latter....

Thanks.

1. I assume to use the SV6 (and avoid your IP being added to a list for potential prosecution) your ISP should NOT be NT*/Cho*us/U*C as they can easily detect the activity of your newly installed SV6??? It would help, yes

2. Is it certain that singal quality/download thresholds will be affected by internet use/downloads etc??? Surely the SV is only using the internet to receive the required N3 codefiles & not using large volumes of bandwidth??? Correct

3. As there's no mention of it on any of the literature/product descriptions I assume the SV6 is not HD. - SD Only

- Yes as you have to flash the box with firmware as you wont get nothing unless ya do
5. Finally & related to #4, do suppiers of the SV6 also supply the new firmware required to flash the box as part of the whole bundle or do buyers need to fetch this themselves??? I assume the latter.... - Same as before, flash the box yerself and it can be found in the usual places

Fair enough - so in relation to #4 - the box will expire after 12 months whether you flash it or not?

Apologies for exhausting this - so I assume then that the firmware needed to flash the box is not freely available & it is this firmware that expires after 12 months???
Correct?

Whatever you say, say nothing when you talk about you know what for if you know who might hear you, you know what youll get. Youll be sent off to you know where for you would not know how long. Maybe I could search through the threads so you dont have to ??
