I'm not saying that this is the cause of the current problem, actually I'm sure it's not but here's a few facts,..

"they" know about the SV6 lan & how it works
"they" have the knowledge/expertise to peek at network traffic on their broadband system
"they" know what to look for,..their not interested in folk connecting to google, amazon, ebay or any of the popular sites but will be looking at new trends over the last few months,..like increased traffic to a server with an obscure address & once "they" discover something supicious they can throttle access to that server.
It's a scatter gun approach as "they" can't be 100% sure they are not affecting legitimate traffic,..I know of one satellite CS server that is loosing Irish customers because their dreamboxes can no longer connect to that server & all those customers just happen to be using "their" broadband network,...you might ask why did "they" throttle traffic to a satellite CS server as it's no skin off "their" nose, the answer is that the traffic to that server matched what they are looking for & so fell victim,..which is why I called it a scatter gun approach.

I would never touch cable CS if I was using "their" broadband network, BTW I haven't touched it anyway.

It also could have been a trial efford on upc part to actually see what happend when they did something but sure all the info is here as people just keep on posting the stuff on here so they dont have to do any work all they have to do is carry on and you do all their work for them.

If this is the case that it was upc or another glitch it wont be long before they find the rest of the server boxes that are connecting.

yes true but as i have said you are all your own worst enemy when the box goes off you all jump on here instead of waiting to see what is happening and that in its self is helping the provider know what is going on as they say less said easiest mended

I agree - These boxs aint your regular cable box and a bit more to em, rathur than wait a little while to see if they come back as in this case they have, folk fall over themselves to post whats missing, whats wrong, some of you need to learn a little patience and wait. You will always have issues like this on a CS as anything can go off or wrong, thats the nature of the beast, but posting every time a chan goes down or the TV flickers, you aint helping yerselves one bit

Don't mind this crap about not posting when you have a problem.
DO POST, so users know probs are widespread & not just their box.
U*C have SVU-6 & linux boxes connected & KNOW EXACTLY what's going on.

There ya go from the horses mouth mmmm wonder is this a U*C worker so that they can find out how widespread the problem is best advice post feck all and wait and see what happens that way you are not helping them they might have a Sv but i would say they dont have it in all areas its working so by people saying my box is gone down in a certain areas they can use this to their advantage.

All i say is beware of the person above bearing gifts !!! Just think before you post it may be a day and hour but worth the wait U*C will have to do their own research then :-)

well linux boxes still work on chokus. but as you say mickah i'm unaware of any linux box that is sharing successfully on n3. this is not to say that it is impossible. to be honest i have looked at the option but better quality with satellite so whats the point in trying to setup a share on uupcee.

aye fint its not impossible, its just that Eamo said above that they, upccc have linux running? How is that possible and how would he know if they had and why would they have done that? I am a bit perplexed by his statement, but like always, I am happy to be corrected on something, no harm, no foul.
