So nobody has burnt Splinter Cell: Double Agent, if u have could you please, please write back.
or could some please tell me what im doing wrong:
I am backing up using DVD Decryptor (MODE>ISO>READ) and saving it to my HDD. I then burn it using Decryptor (MODE>ISO>WRITE) and click on the .mds file. I burn it at 4x and use TDK DVD-R 4.7gb(all of my other games have work fine with these discs).
the game loads fine, until i click on solo/coop then the screen says "please insert a Playstaion or Playstation 2 format disc". i have a modded ps2.
sometime the original does the same, but sometimes it doesn't.

Is it the original, or am i doing something wrong?
Thanks

+10 to you for telling him to use google man, nicely done! As far as splinter cell is concerned, mine works fine, burned on TY02's at 4x using Decrypter. Are you using +R media? Try -R. If that doesnt work, get better media, Taiyos or Verbs.

Burn @ 4x. Why do you burn so slowly? Burning slowly can ruin a disk just as burning fast can.

Edit: ~typo~

Hi shcs

Me too i had burn double agent but when restart my back up i can see the game seem start and until i click on solo/coop then the screen says "please insert a Playstaion or Playstation 2 format disc".
exactly like you ;o(
But DVD Decrypter didn't remove this new protection that's why and you need to use Alcohol 120% or 52% and set up the protection!

How to find wich protection on your ps2 game?
data base protection with a search engine or a software who will find the protection!
A-Ray scanner-----not really because is last update was in 2003

i am still in the same problem has yours but i am close to find the resolution!

Can you pls shcs! post a new threat about our problem?
i found 50% and you need to found the next 50% how to found the new protection and wich set up is the best for the game splinter cell double agent.

ps: i had exactly the same problem with Scarface ;o(

waiting for your answer
good luck

Hmmmm, thats an interesting question. Try taking out the rear piece. A screen should come up saying insert a larger TOC disk. Then yes, use an original ps2 game with a larger TOC size than the game your trying to play, load it up, then put back the original. That might not work, sorry....i have 0 experience with magic keys.

What game is it, or what is the TOC size of it atleast? You can try to use gnie's expert tool on it, which will make a new iso with a much smaller TOC, then hopefully you could play it like normal.

Here is Gnies Expert tool. Very easy to use. Id give that a try.

1.Strike 1 - Memorex

2.Strike 2 - Memorex 16x Dvd's

3.No 3rd strike yet, but there will be a year from now!

Glad you got everything working.....but take it from me, your media doesnt even deserve to be used as a coaster for a pepsi. You can get the best media made for the same price at supermediastore.com

Your help is always welcome svtstang ;o)

1-Now i knew that i had to use original game for refresh toc and not back up ;o)
2-some games 4.36-4.38GB's may need rebuilt to work with Swap Magic.
with Gnies Expert tool;
http://www.xtreme-source.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=135
or (http://rapidshare.de/files/22775594/1.05.rar.html)
+ use a good DVD quality.

ps:step by step i will find! To tell you the truth if i did knew about swap magic,i prefered take the risk to solder a modchip!
swap magic is too much waste of time compare to modchip.

something i really don't know! Alcohol 120% get a new update around every month with new set up protection and probably is much better than DVD Decrypter with it's rare updated?
3 kind of securom set up for alcohol !
Nobody mentioned the difference bettween both software?
I d'like you try Alcohol 120% and look the protection you can choose and you'll amaze! it's free for one month.
you can look for (data base protection) with search engine.but the never mentionned if the data base protection list is for ps2,xbox or dvd rom game ;o(

so have a nice day

@ Joe Ummm..... wait.... what??

here's a question,

do you suggest Decrypter or ImgBurn For burning?
obviously you use Decrypter for reading, but what about writing

just thought i'd ask

Imgburn is based on decrypter, a bit improved, minus the ability to rip. I use imgburn for xbox games, it picks up where decrypter left off and does an excellent job. I use decrypter 70% of time Imgburn 25% of the time and Nero 5% of the time

@ svstang

thanks, imusing TDK-R media (i was told that these and verb's are one of the best discs to use, guess he was wrong!), im going to get some taiyos or verbs and see how they go. Thanks!!

@ joe2006

thanks for the post, im going to see how taiyos or verbs go. And if they don't work i'll try and figure out my (our) problem. If they work for me (they have worked for others) i will post back and tell.
I suppose i haven't really answered or helped you have i, well sorry.

P.S Sorry for the late reply

@shcs

Glad i could be of some help, its nice to see people like you who are genuinly here to learn. I just read your post again, and saw that some originals arnt working for you at times. I would recommend opening the ps2 and cleaning the laser with a lint free cloth and some rubbing alcohol. That even might solve the Splinter Cell issue, but if it doesnt, then yeah, I would pick up a small pack of Taiyos or Verbs then give it a shot. If in fact media was the problem, then atleast you know what you need to buy in the future to get all your backups running :)
