"Hello,
I too have been trying (without success) to load a copy of a PS2 game. The process of burning the game (Silent Hill 3) into a DVD+R using DVD Decrypter went swell. But now that I use a game shark it does not want to read it when i choose "start game with out cheats" it will on the other hand play original copies of games.

I have a PS2 slim (all three switches modded), Gameshark 2 v1.2, and memorex DVD+R as a copy. If you would like any more information please tell me.

Please help."

actually i already gave out that information, if you need any more i can give it to you, thank you.

im guessing it is your boot method, swap magic would probably load it, also use -R media and get something better than memorex, burn at 4x speed

okay first thing you do is take those dvd+r's and get yourself a mapp gas torch. the one with the trigger gun attached.. light it and burn those discs until they melt..then go to best buy and get some verbatim dvd-r's. Once again that's DVD MINUS R'S..try
that..if the gameshark load without cheats doesnt work..then get swap magic or a mod chip there's nothing else i can do to help ya.
@ DTRON
there is a warranty with the mod chip @ teammodders get yourself the matrix affinity green dot chip and you'll be happy..
i don't think it matters what rar file you execute because they're all linked..i just wonder why you don't open the 1st one? even if it's not actual rar files open them with WinRAR anyways and you'll be a happy camper.

I'm interested in getting a mod chip from teammodders. I need some advice. If I get the chip is it fairly simple to install it, or do I send it to them and they do it? I know nothing about how to do this, but I want to get started.

Unless you are a professional solderer (is that a word?), I would send it to them. Just go to the site, chose install service, and wait for a email reply. TM and the crew are highly reliable, as well as very fair.

I have a certification in electronics (hell, that was back in 1997) and i would not mess with trying to solder a chip in a ps2. my psx chip only had 6 wires and it was a pain. it's too easy to get solder where you don't want it and do what's called "bridging" the contacts. in lamens terms if wire A goes here --> ( and wire b goes here ) <-- and you get too much solder between the two-->(_)<-- causing them to touch then it connects the two wires together..go ahead and turn on your ps2 and get ready to sniff a burnt circuit board, possibly even a fire. (ahhh memories).. do not try it..send it away to teammodders..they'll charge you like $35.00 or so and it's warrantied.so if they mess up they'll replace it.

@ tidyko
Hey no problem i'm glad i could help.. you gotta go with what works man..we all tried to get around buying stuff to mod our ps2's but in the end your ps2 will thank you and give you more years of enjoyment. btw using cheap media will make your ps2 laser take a dump real quick. that's why we push verbatim's. they use high quality material unlike memorex, maxell, and sony.

hey guys..anyone notice the price raise on blank verbatims? i was buying 50 packs for 20 something dollars now they doubled. i'm a contractor and know that plastics and metals do go up in price but damn....it doubled withen a couple months..

Verbs have always been overpriced imo, that is mainly why I only buy Taiyos. Just as good as Verbs, and a bit more friendly on my already empty wallet. I think I read you bought verbs at Best Buy.....I would go to Supermediastore.com.....that is the only place I buy my media from. 100 value line Taiyo's (which always come as TYG02) are only $28.99. All I really use, never had a bad burn (except for all the sh!t I went through making a working rip for Rogue Galaxy and God of War 2).

i wanted to get some taiyo's just never had the chance..plus i have the reward zone card for best buy.. i just might get me some taiyo's if they're that cheap. when you did God of War 2 did you put it on DVD-9 or 2 dvd-5's? i had no problem ripping it. i did experiment with it though and it's just not worth the trouble. a lot of scenes were cut and it will freeze when put onto 2 dvd-r's..

No that isnt it, me and a few others from alucard were the ones who made the rips.....I wasted a sh!t load of disks when both we released, all my trial and error helped psycho make a proper kit for Rogue Galaxy. Also I made a tut (which I dont bother to help with anymore) that was the first true DVD5 (single DVD5, truely poor vid quality) rip for GoW 2. I dont take credit for either, I just like be proactive instead of waiting for other's to find a solution. Bottom line is that I prolly wasted around 50 dvds when all is said in done.

/end

But yeah, pick up some Taiyos from SMS if you can, best deal around.

When you post a question like this, it shows that you have not taken enough time to read the pages of this forum, you have not taken any effort to do so, so your post will most probably be insulted or postponed for days maybe.

But I will spare you. :-)
When the download is finished you will most probably get either one .rar file or a whole bunch of .r01 .r02 .r03 and ect. if this is the case you will extract them (if you have the list of ".r01" you will unzip the first one, meaning 1) and at the end you will be left with an .iso file and probably an .mds file. you will open either one using DVD Decrypter and select write iso. Then you will insert a DVD-R and burn at 8x or 4x.

4x

dont risk it, 8x might work.....unless you have a shit load of ram and a above average burner (and high quality media) I wouldnt do it though.

read a few posts up..you'll see that myself and everyone else here uses verbatims which you can buy in stores or taiyo's which you can get online @ supermediastore.com. phillips are great for dvd's and they make great blank cd's..but using the dvd's for the ps2? well sure you can use them. but your ps2 laser is pretty much sh#t..meaning that sony used the worst lasers they could and using "cheap" discs will certainly shorten the life span..we push verb's and taiyo's because of the chemicals used in the discs. they will last years and years without a problem and they are ps2 laser friendly.. you can always buy replacement lasers i've seen them go for $50-$100 or you can buy a 50 packs of verbatim 16x DVD-R for 30 bucks. like i said before..DO NOT PUT STICK ON LABELS ON DISCS. i can't say that enough to people. it will knock the disc off balance and skip. in fact you should'nt use labels for anything. i'm guilty of making labels for my dvd's. always burn your backups @ 4x.

and guys..try to watch what you say about downloading games and such..we're talking about making backups of games WHICH YOU OWN. it's the same as telling thousands of people that you just robbed a liquor store. plus you never know..big brother could be watching you.

Could I burn a .nrg Playstation 1 file onto a DVD-R disc, and boot that up on my ps2 using swap magic DVD?

NO, you need to convert the ps1 image if you decide to burn it to a dvd.

Do I do this with DVD decryptor, sorry, I dont feel like reading 7 pages or something to find out. By the way, the nrg file with is about 475 megabytes is from a torrent, should I convert the file to ISO with a program like DVD decryptor, or something else?
