if you are getting the red screen that says insert a ps2 disc then it is not modded with a chip that supports ps2 back ups, otherwise burn at 4x on good media, and make sure your source is good

sounds like its not modded. how is it modded, what are you booting with, swap magic or mod chip, if chipped what kind of chip and did you flash it.. a flip top will not play a backup without a boot method, please give some details when asking for help

I know that you say that I assume I know about the ISO burning and im not sure about telling if it?s a ISO or not

okay buddy I am backing up my ps2 games with DVD Decrypter I go to mode>ISO>Read then it for example tell me that it would make an ISO of it on my secleted location

this it is

but????.

when I go to my C: I get a WinRAR Archive and an MDS File

then when I go into DVD Decrypter and then mode>ISO>Write I click on the MDS file and it appears to be like 2,807, 32 kb when on the C: it is like 5 kb
is the RAR Archive needed?

can you tell me if this is right??

p.s is it possible to backup DVD movies with DVD Decrypter?[img][img][img][img][img][img][/img][/img][/img][/img][/img][/img]

yes there usually is a boot option but without the brand of chip there is little any one can tell you, try holding R1 at boot, and ask your friend what he had installed, keep trying each button at boot and you should load the chips OS. no info=no help

@gyozo8

when you rip a game with DVD Decrypter you get 2 file one is an image file ISO and the other is a MDS file, burn either one at 4x and make sure you have a boot method (swap magic/mod chip) or it is a waste of time and money

Hey there,

I got a disc image of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix from a friend and I'm a little confused by it. The folder he gave me was full of the game broken into zip file parts (01-27). The first part contained a .MSF image and a .MDS. I realize that the .MSF is the main bulk of the game, but all the other zipped "parts" contain the same named .MDS file. What do I do about these? do i burn them to a disc zipped or wat?

Hey RlovesN, you need to extract those two files (.MSF (.MDF?) and .MDS) and use a DVD burning app like DVD Decryptor, ImgBurn, or Alcohol 120% to burn your game onto a DVD.

When you extract the two files, be sure to right-click the first part, 01, and select Extract All..., clilck Browse to select a folder, and then click Extract. Now open up your burning app, open either the .mds or .mdf file and burn it at 2X or 4X.

Alright I knew that part, but thanks. I'm just wondering about the other zipped folder parts. Are they just filler (unneeded stuff)? or are they nessecary files? All the others are .MDS, thats it.

Since you falied to tell us what was contained in those other rars, nonbody can tell you. If the game is the same region as your console i wouldnt worry about it. Generally, all you must do is burn the .MDS, making sure the .MDF is in the same directory. Done.

Sorry about that, I'm new to this so didn't know it would help. Its a Japanese game (Kingdom Hearts Final Mix) part01 contains [PS2] Kingdom Hearts Final Mix.mdf and [PS2] Kingdom Hearts Final Mix.mds, all the other parts contain an .mds all named the same thing.

Easiet way to fix your problem,

Right click one of the .RAR files,
Choose Extract here

You should get an mdf and an mds fiel in the directory

Burn the mds

@ darkmarks

your post gave zero information, for one DONT USE RW discs, use -R. and please tell us what your problem is other than you cant erase a disc

with dvd decrypter:
1: read iso
2: write iso (at 4x speed on -R good media)
3: boot with swap magic/mod chip
4: enjoy

A mod chip is a chip that is soldered into basically the motherboard of your're PS2. I loads you backups and imports automatically the draw back is that is voids your warrenty on the console. I'd say go for swap magic but the videos available at there site make it look like playing a back up is a pain in the ass. Swap Magic's site has a few videos on how to use it.

I also have a question tho, what is the difference in use a DVD-R and a DVD+R, never really ever found a solid answer to that and how does it affect the back up of a PS2 game.

Here's a great link for the difference between +R/-R. There's a bunch of interesting DVD info there too :)

Okay I am having a very annoying problem. I got a torrent for an ISO file for the Japanese game Dance Dance Revolution Extreme. I fully downloaded it and used a program named UltraISO to burn it. My PS2 has a fliptop and SwapMagic 2.0 DVD version. I will put in Swap Magic, then put in my burnt DVD and the bar that indicates whether or not the boot worked or not (blue if it worked red if it didnt). Every time though it turns red. So I try not even using the Swap Magic disc...still doesnt work. Using UltraISO I tried opening the DDR Extreme ISO file and burned all of the files in it, then just the base ISO file labeled "Dance Dance Revolution Extreme (JP)(PS2)". Here is what is in the ISO file. When opened there is another four files two of which are openable. They are.."data", "irx","SLPM_653.58", and "SYSTEM.CNF". Inside the "data" file is "filedata.bin" and ANOTHER openable file named "sound". Inside the sound folder is "ddrek.bd", "ddrex.hd", "ddrex.td", "ddrex_st.td" and finally "sd.bin".

NOW in the "irx" file is the other openable file out of those four up there. It contains "ioprp254.img", "libsd.irx" ,"mcman.irx", "mcserv.irx", "padman.irx", "sdrdrv.irx", "sd_call.irx",and "sio2man.irx".

What I want to know is, what do I do. Do I copy the unopened "Dance Dance Revolution Extreme (JP)(PS2)" ISO file to the disc which I have already done and I have failed. Or do I convert the files which are obtained by opening the Dance Dance Revolution Extreme ISO file via UltraISO. I know I am being very specific but that is what I want, very specific step by step options on what to do,even if that means getting more programs to get it to work. By the way I am using DVD +RW discs.

Is it possible that it's not compatible with that older SwapMagic? You might want to try using the old swap magic then booting up a newer version 3.6 or 3.8 or maybe trying CDLoader.

no thats not right. I used to own DDR Extreme for the Japanese console. I used Swap Magic for that and it worked. I lost it though so I just downloaded it, and now it has just become a pain. So based on the information I stated before, does anyone know what the problem is? Could be the disc I am using to burn it with? PROBLEMS stated that you can only use DVD-R discs, not DVD+RW discs like I am. If you need a link to the place where I got the torrent for the Dance Dance Revolution Extreme (JP) (PS2), here it is. http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3583028/Danc...REME_(JP)_(PS2)
