DVD Decrypter is all you need %98 of the time, and what mod chip are you using, is it flashed for playing backups, have you played any backups on your moms ps2 or did you just get it chipped?? for example a DMS4 mod chip will not play backups until you flash the chip with toxic OS, this is to make it legal to sell, chips are "intended" for homebrew purposes. and oh yeah BURN AT 4x on GOOD MEDIA not maxells, memorex, tdk, fuji, and other small brands

Yeah I definitely agree with you. DVD Decrypter works almost all of the time. The only time that I have noticed it not working is on newer games. If you use Swap Magic, it won't work with dual layer disks without patching and shrinking. Anyway if you need some help let me know. Also check out my link

Mchcr125,

The referral link needs to disappear and you need to read the forum rules - there's a link to them in my sig.

How is this considered piracy? I am in no way telling people to copy gamefly games. I just need some referrals

this is all very informative, but after the game is finished creating an image file, i turn around on DVD Decrypter to write it to a DVD and it says that the PS2 game is too big to fit on the blank dvd... what should i do??

What is the name of the game. Some games have very easy rip kits out to shrink the game

Unless you have a modchip, a burnt version of Swap Magic will not work. If you have a modchip then you don't need Swap Magic. Swap magic is a disk that acts as a modchip, but it has to load in the ps2. After the disk loads up then you swap. A burnt copy will not load in the ps2

Those are both DVD9 disks. The process of shrinking the files is very long and time consuming. It took me about three hours for GOW1 and about four hours for GOW2.

For GOW2 follow this forum: worked great for me

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/482502

For GoW, you need to download this file

http://rapidshare.com/files/14647519/GOWtool.rar.html

1. First extract the iso using DVD Decrypter
2. Use Apache 2 or 3 to extract both files into the same folder. Google it it is fairly easy to find.
3. Use the GOWtool. There is a tutorial included to explain how to use it. I think that the tutorial explains the whole process. Let me know if it doesn't

okay, so i just spent a shit ton of money on 6 dual layer dvds for nothing... if a burnt copy of swap magic wont work then why do people seed the torrent??

i COULD buy the actual swap magic, but i dont want to spend the money, because with my luck, ill get it and it STILL wont work. what should i do??

I really don't know why you can download a torrent of it, maybe to get the newest version. I found it for 18 dollars on some website. It was for the fat ps2, but i fixed my slimline up anyway using a toothpick and some toilet paper. The reason for Swap Magic is to avoid using a modchip. If you could load a n=burnt copy of swap magic then you would not need it. You could just put the game in. As for the DVD9's I would take them back if they are not opened.

The magic keys can be made with a toothpick and toilet paper. You do have to void your warranty, where with the keys you don't. The keys are placed to cover up sensors that make the ps2 think that it is not being opened.

I don't have a pic because you actually don't make the keys. You have to cover up sensors. There are two that have to be covered up. The sensor has to be pressed. One is in the lower right hand corner of ps2. Flip the lid and its a little hole. The other is in the back of the ps2. Follow this link

http://www.geocities.com/pstwoslimline/tapetissue.htm

I have found that if you will break a sliver of a toothpick off and then press the sensor down it works much better. The tape would not hold

Well this is very simple, if you do not want to spend the money for swap magic w/keys or a mod chip then stop trying to make backups, it isnt free.

Swap magic will not boot a DVD9 period, as far as burning it with DVD Decrypter you need to use the MDS file instead of the image file, but you need to patch it with TOXIC DL Patch first so your chip will read it, unless your burner will book type to dvd-rom.

@Mchcr125
unless you OWN the game you are making a back up of it is piracy, whether you download, rent, or borrow!!!

I am fully aware of what piracy is. But I by no means was promoting it by that link. Gamefly said to post it in forums. Anyway I do have an original copy of every game that I have backed up. Seeing how I am in college, I can take my back ups to school and leave the originals for my brothers. I don't appreciate being accused of piracy when I am innocent

DIDNT ACCUSS, try READING what i wrote, just pointed it out, but by your reaction i am starting to wonder, BUT I DONT CARE WHAT YOU DO, people need to use some common sense!! Just state your problems you are having and leave it at that. Seriously you are posting in a how to burn games forum with a link to a source of games HMMM, doesnt look good. people will get their games from were they wish but there is no reason to put yourself out like that. Rules are rules.

if you read closely to what we were saying, you'll see that nowhere in our conversation did we say anything remotely close to piracy, i was only trying to backup games i already had, but had been lost or damaged.

then why are you responding for someone else, xian i responded to what you were asking, dont get involved in someone elses matters, that is the whole reason i put the @ sign, it was directed to a single person, if you want to continue arguing with me on a matter that two mods have interviend on then so be it YOU NEED TO REREAD MY ORIGONAL POST BEFORE you open your mouth for someone else. Im done with both of you. The best advice i can give is READ THE THREAD, all the answeres are here. no one in this thread is going to hold your hand, do your homework and read.

Oh by the way i do believe you were talking about downloading swapmagic, well that is piracy. spend the money on swap magic with keys or buy a chip or quit trying to burn games

If you'd actually READ THE RULES like I asked you to you'd know referral links aren't allowed. I NEVER said anything about piracy smart aleck, that was your assumption.

Anymore arguing with either myself or ddp will result in a suspension or ban so the the off topic remarks need to end now!
