Actually it still has to be extracted, edited, then rebuilt for Swap Magic peeps. The answer for Swap Magic peeps is using the CORE.GT4 file to extract from both .VOL files.Once this is done, like always something has to be edited to decrease the size of the game. The reason why is the game is 4.9Gig in size for NTSC and 5Gig something for PAL right. It would have to be decreased down to the 4.35Gig limit for Swap Magic.Once this is done,I bet the three ppf patches that are used for the HDD can also be used for the Swap Magic. That is just guessing about the patches,I made three of them also but wasn't sure if they would work or not with Swap Magic.I do think that the supplied ppf patches look very similiar to the ones I made awhile ago, didn't work with Swap Magic though reason why the size of the game is still a factor.I never thought of trying to use them for the HDD though,go figure.

Quick question...Whenever I use DVD Decrypter in ISO Read mode, I end up with three files...
GranTurismo4.I00 4,194,302KB
GranTurismo4.I01 995,618KB
GranTurismo4.MDS 9KB
According to the DVD9 HDD KIT instructions, I am supposed to open the iso in Apache. My common sense would be to load the *.MDS file, as it probably contains the information for the entire ISO. If I do that, Apache will lock up. I can just load the first one with no problems, but I am afraid that I am not getting the whole thing. If I try to load the second one, it locks up.
HELP!!!

Hey Bassy...
2) Execute:
?cd \test\GRANTURISMO4?
3) Execute:
?soz ?d core.gt4?
You need to make sure that the soz.exe is in the \test\GRANTURISMO4 folder. It should work then.

Alanld if you change your main drive on your PC to NTFS it will fix the 4Gig restriction in DvdDecrypter.I'm not really sure Bassy_500 I haven't gone through the steps for HDD yet bro.I'm a Swap Magic peep still looking for an answer for the SM peeps.I did read off the ps2hdd site and they said that you must use the C:\ drive.

The soz file is an exe.
soz.exe
Make sure it is in the folder that you are in when you run the command.
It really shouldn't have anything to do with PAL/NTSC...

the fixes out so far are pretty complex, seems to me it would be easier to buy the game. i hope the next one that comes out is automated.

Earlier you said this: people are still babbeling very interesting, like they can crack this game. I think it is a waste of time and leave the cracking of this game to professionals.
I bet, IF the game gets cracked, it would not be someone from this forum.
So stop babbeling like you guys are really smartass crackers.
Please post only if you make this game playable from a HDD.
And now it's been done.

i didn't make that statement :) i Quoted that statement.....i said many pages back that this game would be able to be backed up,and all the top dogs were working on it,some of which i have known for years, especially the fellas from over at alucards,i truely respect them, their work is brilliant,we all work in conjunction, theres no race,no bragging, etc, etc.i'm no expert,i make no apoliogies in saying that i rely on these fellas,as i'm not totally up to speed with all aspects of ripping (PS2)i also make no apoliogies for any of my statements in this GT4 forum, there may be others, but one person that springs to mind is L-BURNA...he listened to what i had to say,and he concurred,i have full respect for his work as well, he contributes well to the PS2 scene...well done mate

Hi I am a new user here and am only just getting into doing backups. As i can see from reading this thread I have noticed alot of development and progress has been made. Along with a lot of potentially false information. Can anyone post a list of what programs are needed, what patches or anything are needed and steps taken to make a back up of PAL version GT4 if possible. Any help would be much appreciated.
