AK420, you need to extract everything ... EVERYTHING in the same directory, which should be: c:\test\GRANTURISMO4
All of the programs and the files in the DVD.rar and TOOL.rar files should go into that directory. If you don't do it ... when you have to use the CMD PROMPT, it will give you an error message.
Anyhow ... that should be the rub.

There's a .bat at ps2scene that practically does the whole thing for you. All you'll need is a hex editor. In case any n00bs are interested.

I tried burning on a DVD+R DL and it doesn't work! I matched both iso files (PAL, toolboy's DVD9 patch, my own .iml) and set the layer break after the last sector of layer0, burned it and nothing happens... sony logo etc and then black screen!
NB: The layer break must be a multiple of 16, so I had to add a dummy file to fill up...

Howdy all,
I see a couple people posted they burned a DVD DL, telling it where the layer split was? How did you burn from two ISO files..
I made yet another KIT (sorry for so many files floating around)....this is a DVD9 DL kit for ALL REGIONS....it's the same file patches as in the previous DualLayer kit, BUT, I made a tutorial on how to patch your ORIGINAL GT4 DUAL-LAYER ISO...ie you end up injecting the patched core.gt4 (which I pad with zeros to match the original size) file back into the ISO, and then adjust the TOC in the ISO to the new size of the modified core.gt4... (so those padded zeros become unused space in the ISO, and the core.gt4 now has the right size in the ISO)...
It's again not a real easy tutorial..but I did make a batch for most of the patching process, you just have to do the editing the header part, and patching the ISO...
It'll be up on ps2hd.com and ps2nfo shortly...also, I've ordered some DL media myself so I can take a first hand shot at it..

Toolboy, seeming you are the man of year in the world of technology, do you have patches, like your magnificent GT4 patch, in the works for God of War, Dead to Rights II and Downhill Domination?
BTW, figuring out how to disconstruct this game to play on the HD is amazing. How did you do it? I would love to take a whack at some older games, like Crazy Taxi and stuff. Thanks.

Hi all,
toolboy again....I've ALSO updated the original GT4_HDD_DVD9.doc that came with the HDD kit....I realized after looking at the other regions, ie JAP(SCAJ) and JAP(SCPS), and KOREA, that their 6 byte headers that you patch in are NOT the same as the NTSC/PAL, and would probably cause the error where the $ony Disclaimer comes up, and then freezes...
In the attachment (please see ps2hd, ps2-scene, or ps2nfo) is just the updated doc...still use the original HDD kit if you're going to play from the HDD......(or use some of the automated batch files on here!)......just follow this doc instead of the one that is in the original kit!
Please take note of the Step 5, part 6...this is where the breakdown now is for each region, I've put the 6 header bytes for each region there, and it tells you to pick the appropriate one!!
sorry guys if this caused any hang ups for those trying to make HDD images for JAP/KOREA!

hey toolboy,
I managed to combine both layer0.iso and layer1.iso into one .iso simply by copying both into one file.
copy /B "layer0.iso"+"layer1.iso" "fulldisc.iso"
Since a "double layer-iso" is only two normal isos in one that method seems to work. From the size of the layer0.iso (divided by 2048) I got the number of sectors for each layer which I told dvddecrypter. As already mentioned the number of sectors in front of the layer switch has to be a multiple of 16. Since my layer0.iso had 1,612,151 sectors I had to add a dummy file with 9 sectors to make it fit. I only added the dummy to the layout, not to the TOC, so that it doesn't become visible.
The result seems perfect: If you rip it, you see two layers, everything is fine, it looks just like the original .iso, only with your patches for hdd-PAL, except core.gt4 (with dvd9 patch); I am sure I used the right "versions"...
so what do you say?

neuemail,
that sounds interesting...although the TOC thing still worries me if all the TOC info that the PS2 reads is in the Layer0 ISO, and just doing a copy of layer 0 + layer1 iso doesn't change the TOC at all...
but this is all just "speculation" on my part, since I'm no expert by any means on DVD9 ISO formats for PS2...
one other thing...I'm not sure if the IOPRP300 patches are needed when making the DVD9 image to burn to DL..???
It might actually make it not work..those routines might need to be back to normal for the DVD9 to function right? not sure...
but it's easy to back that out...you can just extract the unpatched IOPRP file from your original ISO, and inject it into your new "patched" DVD9 ISO...
it's a 50/50 shot at this point....and I know that sux because DL media is still $6-7 a pop!
I'm definitely going to sacrafice a few of my own once they arrive (in 3 days or so)
your call....try your own made ISO, or try repatching the ORG from my DL kit....

Hello to all.
I apologize in advance for asking a question that has most likely already been answered. However, I have very little time to scan through this entire post, but I do plan to read it when I have some free time. I have Swap Magic v3.3, and I was wondering if this game has already been cracked for DVD-5.
Thanks a lot, and what you guys do is absolutely amazing!

With regards to Swap Magic 3.3, I know for certain it is working with 3.6.... with some tweaking, so I would imagine 3.3 is a go.

Bodom,
if your having trouble with apache2 try this:try apache2 again if it locks up,hit ctrl/alt/delete and shut it down with task manager. Then reopen apache and try again.(This happened to me with1.1 so this is what I did and found it worked the second time)

I have very little tolerance for foolishness, so I recommend Apache 1. Try exploitstation or just google it. PM me if you need more help, .//bodom

Hi All,
thanks everyone for trying out the DL fixes and sacrificing good DLs to test out these patches......unfortunately it seems the patches aren't complete yet..
I'm still working on it, and will hopefully have the patches Identified soon.....I think I was wrong when I said I had already disabled the ptp check, I hadn't correctly identified it....
As soon as my DL discs arrive (within the next 2 days), I can hopefully complete this task!
So for NOW, just stick with the HDD patches, and don't waste any more DL discs...I have enough info from the guys whom sacrificed media to know where it's at.....(people report that at least the joystick LED comes on, so I know the core.gt4.elf was executing, and it dies in there....so the core.gt4 padding and the ISO TOC modify worked..)
stay tuned...
