It's most likely a DVD5. I'm pretty sure every single Bemani release is now on DVD5, seeing as they all started out on CD.
To tell you the truth, I'm not sure. But I can tell you this, you probably don't have much to fear. If the worst is true, and the game is a DVD9, you can probably rip a few of the movies/songs/soundfiles that you don't like to make it fit a DVD5.

Ok I have a question about swap magic cd 3.3 I was playing lego star wars just fine loaded evertime no problem. Now suddenly it wont load. It makes a lot of noise while trying like the disk is bouncing around or something. I also use a fliptop if that matters. Also since lego star wars stopped working sometimes even the swap magic cd wont load. All dvd verasions work fine using swap magic dvd. Any input would be great.

I got Splinter Cell : Pandora Tomorrow to work on my v12 with Swap Magic 3.3
There's a patch on PS2NFO made by DVDRick that will patch your ISO of the game to work with either PAL or NTSC versions of the game. There are two patches, so download the one appropriate to your region.
However, if you've been screwed out of access to their website (thanks to their policy of not letting most people join with free email addresses) DVDRick has his very own IRC channel on EFNet.
Download mIRC, connect to the EFNet server, and go into the room #PS2NoMod, that's DVDRick's own channel. To save you the work of having to look up the tag (at least for the NTSC version), simply paste in :
!download Splinter_Cell_Pandora_Tomorrow_USA_PS2DVD-MorningWood-SMFIX_DVDRick.zip
in the main window. This will trigger the download.
Make an ISO of your original version of the game, name the ISO "scpt-mw.iso" Put this and the patcher in a folder (it doesn't matter where, putting it in a folder will make finding the patched ISO less confusing) run the patch program, and it'll create a new ISO.
Burn this new ISO the usual way (with DVD Decrypter) and you'll then have a working version of the game.
At least, it should work. In the NFO it states that the patch is only for the MorningWood release of the game, and that it'll only work on PS2s v1-6 with Swap Magic 2.0 However, I made an ISO of the original disc, renamed it scpt-mw.iso to work with the patch, and I can run it perfectly fine with Swap Magic 3.3 on my v12.
Edited for less confusion.

Oddly enough, I could never get the DVDRick patch to even work -- I have the feeling my backup ISO wasn't named properly. Moreover, I'd heard that even with the patch, the NTSC version didn't work; it would still freeze up after selecting singleplayer. I'll give it another shot later.
Edit: Nope, patcher still doesn't work for me. The only thing that happens is that a lot of files get extracted to the patch folder.

That's really weird.
Maybe it's a naming thing.
I know that if you use the patch, on a normally ISO'd image (IE, one that you did yourself from an original copy) the patcher will run, and will create a LOAD of files into the directory you put it in. However, when it's done running, it'll delete most of the files. For some reason, it created a directory full of sound files on mine that it never cleaned up, however it deleted pretty much everything else, and left an extra ISO named DRK-SC2.ISO.
Just watch the console window that pops up, if at any point it says "File Not Found" you either have a bad iso name (for the USA version, it MUST be scpt-mw.iso) or the iso you have is not an exact original copy of the US original.
However, I have not had any problems playing it. Not only did it get to the title screen, like the CDLoader with Beta 3, but it also didn't go crazy on me when I tried to start a single player game. The gameplay and loading times are also the same as the original.
I haven't encountered any problems actually playing the game, but if I do, I'll reply with whatever I find.

Hi there, I'm using a PSTwo with the Fix (brackets) and Swap Magic 3.3. I recognized that some backup and import games, like Fifa street, GT4 and Shadow of Rome, will not work on my PSTwo-FIX system. Does the solution which is decriped in this forum will work on my system?
Regards,
Imeel

Yes, the fixes as described will work for those two games. Both FIFA Street and Shadow of Rome will work fine with the DVDRick patches; do *not* use the genie patches for FIFA Street, those are dicey at best. As far as I know, there are no working rips of GT4 for the Swap Magic discs. The dual-layer copies will not boot with the Swap Magic, so you will have to wait for a working DVD5 rip, if it ever appears.

Well, Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow came out around the same time that Swap Magic 3.3 came out. It was one of those games that no one would know would have protection, a special game that needed fixes. Swap Magic 3.3 automatically detected and patched games that troubled Swap Magic 2.0. In fact, SwapMagicFix.com is almost useless to Swap Magic 3.3 users, so I simply imagine that the Swap Magic makers simply updated their software, and now the game autopatches Splinter Cell 2.
If you wanna do us a favor, why don't you test out the other trouble games for Swap Magic 3.3 listed in this thread, if they fixed Splinter Cell 2, then maybe they made fixes for other games, too. And that kind of information would REALLY be useful for reference later on :D

I've now posted the statistics for all the tested games on the list, so you can all see the actual numerical breakdown of how many games work/don't work/need patches. It's pretty impressive, really, just how well the Swap Magic 3.3 discs perform ;) Of course, I'll keep updating the stats concurrently with the list.
As you can see, almost all of the non-working games are CD-based. Fortunately, I have a pretty good idea on how to get them all to work with the Swap Magic discs, but (unfortunately) I'm out of CDRs for the moment. Hopefully I'll be able to pare down the non-working games to almost nil in the near future.

Just burn MGS3 to good media : Ritek, MCC, Taiyo Yudens. Even then, I've seen some backups that had sound skip sometimes during the audio transmissions.
I backed mine up on a CMC Magnetics disc and towards the end of the game, the audio clips would take slightly longer to load.

MGS3 has always had some minor skipping in the codec scenes regardless of which media I've used. It is not a big deal, but it's a bit unfortunate. Just use the best media possible for it burned at slow speeds if you can.
The Confusion DVD5 of God of War should work fine. There is one part (after you get the red necklace) where the rip freezes up, though, for a good 5-10 minutes, I hear. The way to fix this is to go into options and set widescreen to on and soften to off; this will get rid of the loading entirely, and you can return the options to normal once you get to the statue.
On a completely unrelated note, isn't that Kratos I see in the new upcoming Sony game Genji? ;)

Added some more games, plus a new problem game, The Rumble Fish (JAP), a 2-D fighter from Sammy. This game boots to a black screen until I rebuilt it. Unfortunately, since the game is small (less than 400 MB), using the traditional CD/DVDGen method isn't possible (unless perhaps if you add a substantial dummy file). So just use Nero instead (UDF/ISO compilation, drop the files in the same order you see in ISOBuster). I'm sure ripping to a CD will work too, if you are so inclined.
I haven't heard of any problems with Armored Core: Nexus, but then again, it seems like very few swappers own the game. I'll take your word for it until I can test it on my own. Anyone who's gotten Nexus to work, please chime in ;)
