I bought 2 ev's at the same time (think they're both 07 Reds - original). I updated the firmware on my own one using the releases on Eamo's link (Red Max) & it's working fine (albeit I need to get the latest CDF & use that but that's ok) but when I updated the other EV everything works fine up to the point where I hook it back up to the PC & do a power scan (290 - 420 on 6.887 for NT hellll Dublin). During the powerscan I can see that all the channels have been picked up but it's when I "exit & save" that the "code being updated" screen appears.......

The message "code being updated" stays on the screen & nothing happens (on the other EV I put it to sky sports & the channells came after 5 mins). But on this one it will just stay like that for hours with no picture....any ideas (do I need to double check my version (black/blue)????

Thanks in advance.....

Janey Mack.
I know this is strange but the file might be corrupt, simply delete the original download, and then re download and do another flash, this might work!!

Sorry bout that last error. Hit 'post reply' by accident.
Thanks for the advice Des - what I actually needed to do was a factory default & change the default setting to the other option (6.887) it was set to the other so I guess when the EV was trying to do the autoupdate it was doing it on the wrong frequency.
The powerscan frequency (which picked up the channel's) was set to 6.887 but not the other setting in the config.

Anyway all sorted - cheers for the help.
I have no passed on my knowledge learned here to 4 other (now satisfied) users.

On a seperate note - where does one procure additional EV's (or what is the best recommended box to use & what is the price to pay????)

Hi all, I'm new to these box thingys and need some help. I have a Eurovox Max V 2008 on C@o£r*s but after setting it up I can only get a picture on 3 of the 130 or so channles it found. The names of the stations and what's currently on is displayed on the screen but I have no picture or sound. Contacted the person who sold me it and informed me I probably need to download software ! Any help would be appricated.

your software is out of date you need one of the following below

red / blue box ===== 21/4/08

Black Max ===== 18/4/08

these are the only firmware that will work on these boxes

And be aware these are not and i say not for clone boxes and will kill them dead

you will need your gray cable that came with the box when you firs got it

FLASHING EUROVOX BOX

1 CONNECT YOUR NULL MODEM CABLE (1 END TO THE PC AND THE OTHER TO YOUR BOX)

2 GET YOUR LOADER READY

3 THE LOADER AND FIRMWARE ARE COMBINED

4 TURN YOUR BOX OFF AT THE MAINS

5 PRESS THE CENTER DOWNLOAD BUTTON YOU WILL GET ANOTHER BOX PRESS START ( WAITING FOR RECEIVER )

6 NOW TURN YOUR BOX BACK ON AND YOU WILL SEE THE LOADER LOADING THE FIRMWARE

7 WAIT TILL YOU SEE THAT YOUR BOX HAS REBOOTED BEFORE REMOVING ANY CABLES

8 NOW YOU HAVE FLASHED YOUR BOX

9 NOW ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS GO TO MENU CONFIG AND FACTORY RESET TO DEFAULT ON YOUR SYMBOL RATE (NTL==6875 TW 6952)

DOING A CHANNEL DUMP

ON THE LOADER ON THE BOTTOM PRESS UPLOAD THAT WILL OPEN ANOTHER BOX FOR YOU TO SAVE TO

YOU NEED TO RENAME YOUR CHANNELS (EXAMPLE MIKES_CHANNELS_20_4_08)

THEN YOU WILL GET ANOTHER BOX WITH CHANNEL DATA ON IT THEN PRESS START YOU WILL SEE

THE LIGHT FLASH ACROSS THE LOADER AND THAT IS IT DONE

TO PUT THE CHANNELS BACK ON DO THE REVERSE ORDER EXCEPT YOU PRESS THE BOTTOM DOWNLOAD BUTTON

go to my computer view system info-hardware-device manager-select coms&lpt Double click find your usb adapter go to port settings-advanced and make sure your usb is set to between 1-4 whichever's available if none are available just force windows to allocate one.

To see which port your USB adapter is connected to, connect your USB adapter and follow the following instructions:

1. Go to the Start Menu
2. Right click on "My Computer"
3. Select "Properties"
4. Click on the "Hardware" tab
5. Click on "Device Manager"
6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)"
7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.)
8. Go back to your map software program that you use to transfer data and make sure it is looking at the correct port.
9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected

If you need drivers go here

http://www.gilsson.com/usb_drivers_download.htm

Follow my advice to step 7. Locate your USB Adapter (port *)

Right click on that port and select properties. Then select port settings, then select advanced. At the bottom of that tab will be a drop down box with the port selected (port * in your case). Use the drop down to select another port (eg 1, 2 or 3). If the port you want to use is already allocated to something else, you can use the same procedure to reassign that port after you have finished.
Save the selections in the usual way. The USB converter will be permanently assigned to the port you selected.
