Not yet, in good time.
BurnTest passed at 3.15Ghz.
Max CPU temp: 62ºC
Max Core temp: 73ºC
Max Chipset temp: 54ºC
Amazing what a difference overclocking these things has, they run hot! This is still at higher fan speeds than I ran with my dual (1000 rear, 1000 CPU, 1400 side, 1400 front, versus 800 rear, 1000 CPU, 800 side, 800 front like before)
Interesting - with RAM timings at default 5-5-5-16 the burn test passes. With them at 4-4-4-12, it crashed even just booting windows, yet Everest reports memory voltage as being correct - 2.18V. More BIOS-related woes?
The 54ºC chipset temp stings a bit, I've been putting off the arctic silver job because I never felt it necessary, and I wasn't sure what I was meant to do about the Vreg sink that is connected to it - whether that needed reapplication of thermal material on the same basis as the chipset - i.e. if the heatsink's come off, it's time for new paste. However, a 16ºC jump from adding a quad core is quite something, I'll have to seriously consider my options here.

3.24Ghz still fails the burn test with the 9C BSOD code, rather unsurprisingly. F5 BIOS you say then?

Yes F5. If it's still not stable then you will need a vcore increase.
It's really nice. Juts put the F5 bios onto a USB drive. I can email it to you if you want.

flashed my bios and now setting comfortably at 3.56ghz. that equates to 444 fsb x 8 and my memory is running at 1065.4mhz using the 333 fsb strap. vcore's at 1.34v with LLC enabled and temps are good with the cores from 32c - 36c at idle and 52c - 56c fully loaded according to real temp.
other temps at idle: mobo: 33c, cpu: 20c, NB: 40c, SB: 42c.
other voltage settings: FSB: 1.33v, NB: 1.38v, DRAM: 2.21v
I'm going to let it idle for a while and see if this bios vs has fixed the problem with LLC. if not, I will have to disable LLC and raise the vcore a bit. got my fingers are crossed :)

What I don't get is that the Q6600 behaves in exactly the same way at the exact same speeds as the E4300. That can't just be coincidence surely?
Oh and by that I mean:
3.15Ghz - Rock solid
3.25Ghz ish - boots and runs fine, fails stress tests
3.3Ghz+ - unstable
The only difference is that 3.6Ghz actually POSTs on the Q6600, it can't even load windows, but 3.6 on the E4300 just caused a double reboot and reset back to 1.8...

Yes you can, using @BIOS.
Going to downclock my CPU a bit though first - don't want to take any risks with this! :O
edit: There is no F5 for the X38-DS4, only F4a BETA and F3.

It's unreliable through Windows. Sometimes the BIOS gets corrupted. Better to flash through USB drive.

no need. everything will reset to default when you flash the bios.
very seldom is the first bios vs worth a hoot. that's why they continue to release later/improved versions.

lol. I would quit using hotmail if it weren't for MSN or the fact that everyone knows my hotmail email. Also it's good for managing high quantities of email. I get like more than a 100 emails per day on that. I cant see myself checking gmail as easily.

Gmail's miles easier to check than hotmail, but then that might be because I'm used to it, it's been my main email system for four years now.
BIOS version 4a installed - one bonus is immediately apparent, my S-ATA DVD drive actually shows up in the BIOS!

Lots of good information for Gigabyte owners at TweakTown, I had to use them looking for clues when I couldnt OC with my SATA burners attached.

hmm, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. every mobo I've had, even my old gigabyte, reset everything in the bios to default settings when I flashed the bios.
