Well 1 point for you sir. You just got me to 3.26 Now i ask you this do i continue on my quest to go higher or is there another setting i should tweak before i continue. You know i been reading alot about clocking but i think i've been reading the wrong stuff. I am new to this and ive noticed alot of the info out there is general nothing specific ie.. ( oh i just put it at 400x9 on stock voltage and hit 3.6 no problem) but they fail to mention the small tweaks it took to get there as you just showed me. Ive yet to really understand what all the settings mean in relation to what they do.

The memory was important as it configures itself to be in line with the processor, so as soon as you overclock the processor, the memory starts being overclocked too. 1066mhz memory is in actual fact 800mhz memory that passed testing for a higher speed, so it's technically already overclocked by 33%, hence why it wouldn't take much more. The FSB and the RAM multiplier are the only things that usually need adjusting initially. After a certain point you will need to increase the VCore (CPU voltage) but you shouldn't need to do that for quite some time. Keep pushing and see how far you get.

I think im going to stay right here for a while. Now you stated something about tweaking the memory. Do tell.

ok so i put it up a bit more. Im at 3.9 @1.24v. Now im runnig it through occt for 30 min. So far the temp has reached a peak of 57 but fluctuates mostly between 53-56. Is this ok. My other question is occt shows the vcore as 1.22. Easy tune shows it at 1.21. But i set it at the mobo @ 1.2435. Thats got me confused at the moment. I'm pretty sure that all those voltages are fine. But who do i trust lol.. Thanks

to get 3.6ghz on my E8400 and my GA-EP45-DS3R i have all my settings on auto goes t o3.6 with ease. 400x9 with the multi. and have my mem OC'd to 1066. 400C i think it is... i will check shortly and post back my exact settings. good mem is the key. i couldnt OC my crucial mem it was garbage.... the mushkin i have no is awsome way easy to OC.

Yeah that wasnt working for me in the beginning. I couldn't get past 3.2. It wasn't till sammoris stated to change the memory multiplier that it finally worked. So now im at 3.9 @1.24v. Went through 30 minutes occt.

Well i have 1066 memory but its currently at like 800 mhz since im only using the memory multiplier 2.00d. I tried changing the memory multiplier to get my memory close to 1066 but the system became unstable. So seeing what you did im guessing that im going also have to adjust my strap then use the multiplier that gets me to 1066. Then hopefully it should be stable and running at its stated speed?

first of all is your E8400 a EO or CO stepping? if it's a EO man should'en have any problem what so even and plus your not gonna get a good oc with all 4 slots filled with memory 2x2 is the best two slots 1 & 3 dimms what's the batch # on that cpu off yours? if you can get your multi 445x9=4005.6 set your volts at 1.225v vdroop of 1.168v under stress with rated fsb of 1780.3 this depends on quality of your memory if it's good enough to handle low volts off 2.0v it may want 2.1v at 5-5-5-15 at 1:1 dram freq you may have to run it loose 5-6-6-18..I don't know what bios you have? these setting are with f4 bios out the box but the above is done also with this type of ddr2
link below..
Team Group
and..Ic you got Patriot Memory and if got this below
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...&Tpk=20-220-353
its a basic powerchips kit, if u know how power chips work u could do like 1150 if not then like 1080:)

Hi Sam,
No, the A380 was all I wanted to know about really, I happend to be looking at cases on the net and the wife saw and thought she would go looking for one on her laptop aswell in the other room, next thing I know I'm getting these links to the A380 case and messages to me vial live messenger saying how nice it looks... Hmmm....I thought!, bet its actually a pile of crap, time to ask the guys on Afterdawn for the low down...and what do you know! the case is actually A PILE OF CRAP!lol.
I would be intrested in your opinion and anyone elses opinion on my present case though!. I'm not really in the market for a new case yet, my next purchases will be: Ram/Case Fans/HeatSink - A.Silver pro7. Oh and some Arctic Silver5 thermo Paste!, that should knock me back all of a zillion dollars!
Best Wishes,
Sam

The 3D Aurora is generally a pretty good case. It doesn't have ideal side ventilation, but that's not a big issue when there's so much else going on. It's far better balanced than the A380 case, shall we say, plus the build quality is far better.

In regard to side ventilation, the 3DAurora comes with an interchangable side vent, so you can go from clear perspex to grill, I'm not sure if you saw only the one with the perspex Sam. Do you think cases benifit from a fan on the side?.
Just a quick question, whats the safest CPU Temperature at load for the e6700??

Sam

I'm aware of the side grille, but didn't think a fan could be attached to it (which is really what is important), if you can attach a 120mm side fan (intake), do so.
There isn't really a 'safest' temperature, but the CPU is safe as long as the main CPU temperature doesn't exceed about 65ºC (not the core temperatures), this is pretty easy to achieve usually. Below 50 is more typical.

Sam,
Just a quick question, with only one intake fan on my case would it be worth my while in getting a higher CFM Rated fan for the front to lower my Temps even more?. The only problem is I've looked around, the manual etc, some sites but cant seem to find out what my Aurora fans are CFM rated at??, if anyone knows I would be very greatful!
Thanks,
Samuel.

1000rpm, i.e. near-silent, but low airflow. Try a Scythe S-Flex SFF21F for high speed but reasonable noise, or a Scythe Kaze White if you want an illuminated one :)

Coolermaster fans are very variable. Antec Tricools are good, as they can be switched between low noise and high speed.
As for the Kaze Whites, I think they may be a european model only.

@Bigwill68, Well I'm not sure what the stepping is I'm guessing that's
on the chip itself but the batch number is Q832A366. Yes that is the memory i have 2x2gig sticks and i have them on slots 1 and 3. I need to say that i new to this overclocking.I brought it back down to 3.6. I figured I'll leave it there till i figure out how to get my memory up to its rated speed or better. Cincyrob had stated that his 800mhz was running at 1066 with a 400mhz strap and 2.66d multiplier. I'm Currently at a multiplier of 2.00d with no strap. like i stated before i tried to just change the multiplier to something that would get my memory at least to it stated speed but the system became unstable. So i'm guessing i'm going to have to also adjust the the strap setting. I'm Running the F6 bios on my mobo atm.
