to play without umd u can instal 3.71 m33 , 3.71 mm3-4 or 3.90 mm3-2 etc ... but if shows any mesage there can start game u must to pres SETECT and UMD ISO MODE from normal do to m33 driver :D
Sorii 4 mine english :D:D :$
dont worry bout your english ill try to understand as best as possible. But i dont quite understand this part "but if shows any mesage there can start game u must to pres SETECT and UMD ISO MODE from normal do to m33 driver" could you explain it a little more for me? It would be greatly appreciated!
do u have 3.71 m33 firmware now and can u play iso and cso games ??
when u instal 4 first time 3,71 m33 and start one game says the game could be not started and u must to press SELECT in psp and go to UMD ISO MODE if there says is Normal do it to mm3 driver ::D hope u understand :D:D hjhaha
i know now how to get 3.71m33 i just need to buy the materials. i dont understand umd iso mode and m33 driver. wat is that? is there a pic or youtube video that will show me wat that is? sry this is late.

This has nothing to do with this guide. Please start your own thread and don't post unrelated questions here. There is enough post that users have to go through.

I've got a Fat PSP and Fat battery, came with the PSP.
Ok. So I'm pretty sure my hardwired pandora's battery is good, because I get a blank black screen with a green power light when I put it in. Then if I also use option2 : Install booster boot code, it powers up just fine. Although if I hold down R-trigger it still just boots up like normal.
So I'm pretty sure it's my MS stick.
When using this app, I never get this screen.

It goes straight to credits after copying the files.
With another very similar app, not 'V3', it says 'Check free reserved sector: to small sector' (or something like that)instead of: 'check free reserved sector: OK' at the end. With this other similar app I also get an error after it copies the files saying: Can't open: h:/msipl.bin
After that I get the credit screen.
If someone could just confirm that this definitely is NOT supposed to happen I will buy another memory stick and try it. Although I am using an official 1GB Sony Pro Duo that I got from Dick Smiths (reliable large retail store, wouldn't sell fakes).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I got it working finally!!
All I did was try the installer on my GF laptop, and it worked first time.
It's strange as my PC and her laptop are both running XP Pro, which I installed myself form the same CD. Oh well, it's working now so I don't really care.
But for everyone else having problems, just try it on another PC or laptop.
:)

Yes, all its doing is writing stuff from the mms to the actual PSP. you can then format the mms.
PSP Firmware History:
2.71 -> Got PSP modded (Waste Of Money) 3.40 -> Downloaded DAX's 3.40 OE-A -> 1.5 -> 1.53 -> 1.5 -> 1.53 xD -> 1.5 -> 3.40 OE-A -> 1.5 -> 3.52 m33 -> 3.52 m33-2 -> 3.52 m33-3 -> 3.52 m33-4 -> 1.5 -> 3.52 m33-4 -> 1.5 -> 3.71 m33 -> 3.80 m33 ->3.80 m33-3 -> 3.80 m33-5 -> 1.5 -> 3.71 m33 -> 3.71 m33-4 -> 3.80 m33 -> 3.80 m33-5
40GB PS3 - one game. skate. hoping to get GTA 4 and COD 4 :)

yeah im getting the same error....dont get me wrong i stayed trying this for a whole day and atleast i got this far...i tried the universal unbricker on this other site and it didnt convert the files properly but this got me atleast to download the 3.71 m33. i ever cracked open my own battery to make a jigkick battery which i found out wasnt that hard. im just stuck when i get to my memory stick and i try to do the mux 2.0 update. it says "the game copuld not get started (80020148) and i think it might be because i cant change my battery back to normal...what i was gonna do is get my other battery from my boy who broke the screen of his psp instead of doing it with the pandora one and follow the instructions all the way threw. will this work or do i have a bigger problem on my hand than what i thought

Make sure you are on 3.71 M33-2. You can double check by going to System Settings then System Information. Make sure it says 3.71 M33-2 under System Software.

Hey, I'd just like to ask a few questions if it's ok. I've never did anything like this before and I just got my PSP so I'm a scared of bricking it. Hope you guys can give me some advice!
So I just got a Slim silver PSP, a european one, if there's even a difference. I have version 3.95 of the system software. Can I use this guide to install the custom firmware ok on my PSP? I don't need to do anything besides follow this guide to go from the official firmware to the homebrew firmware right?
Also, which version should I install? 3.80 M33, 3.90 M33 or 3.71 M33-4? Does it make a difference with the compatibility of homebrew apps and stuff? Which one would you guys recommend?
Also do I need to download other stuff to run homebrew apps after I install this? If so, what?
Thanks in advance you guys :) My datel battery tool should arrive tomorrow so I'm kind of excited (and nervous :P)

Go to Game Menu Memory Stick and press triangle then select information.
Look under MagicGate if it says not supported or unknown then you have a fake 8GB Memory Stick.
If this is the case then there is nothing you can do about it. Try getting a refund or exchange it for a proper 8GB from wherever you bought it from.

I pretty much am having the same problem as this guy, however i don't got another comp to try.
I tried the easy installer with a fat battery in a slim, and a fat battery in a fat. Every step up the the very end is fine and works like it should, but when i select option 4 at the end, instead of getting the info screan, some numbers flash by and it goes to the credits. Also, the PSP removable disk remains blank as if no files are copied over, so i can't go on to the next step. any ideas?
(P.S. would this still work if i used a fat battery in a slim? it does not affect the mod does it? )

Format the Memory Stick (make sure you save any data you want before hand).
You should also extract the game from WinRar first onto your PC. Then transfer the ISO/CSO to the PSP after it has been extracted. Do not extract the ISO/CSO directly to PSP directory.
@tamash
We can only offer suggestions on how to fix your issue. Use a different PC and or Memory Stick. if you have no other PC or Memory Stick then what else can we do for you? Nothing!
As well the PSP FAT/SLIM Battery has no baring on the Easy Installer creating the Magic Memory Stick.
