yes you can upgrade internally, however, the cost of a 2.5" sata hdd is a lot higher than an external hdd. i'd like to know the answer of this question too.

I bulieve that there will be too many dump files to make it that big.

exactly my point. i can pick up a 500gb external for sometimes less then 100 bucks if you catch them at the right time where an internal one would cost more. plus, i'd like to use the external for more then the ps3 i.e. back up other stuff. Ideally I could use the external and hook it up through the usb but was just wondering if it can actually be done. suppose I might have to wait till a back up is actually playable and then go from there. if nothing else, i could probably save more games on the external, then transfer it over when i want to play another one. just would be tedious going back and forth. again, thanks in advance for any input.

It sucks that all this is happening in only 1 week or less but yet the PS2 has been out for 5-6 years and never had a internet browser, GBA, N64 emulators and lacks homebrew but the PSP has been out for only a year and has thousands of homebrew, emulators and tools.... i could only imagine how fast the ps3 will move :(

Yes it has, it's called BBNavi. You need the Linux kit and a Jap console. May be a way around the console compatability by now though.

Its still not possible, when it is it will be an emulator for Linux.

For those who don't like to read(or possibly cant).
--------------------RECAP--------------------
1.You can change the internal HD or use an external HD(USB) I just use a HD enclosure.
2.You must install linux on the ps3 (google it)
3.Currently you can only get an ISO file from the ps3 we just need an emulator to emulate the protective features of the disk.
(Cant't wait for the emulator)

"he logged into the shell and dumped the Extended OS Area"
How do you log into shell on fedora core 5? I've tried 'bash' and nothing happens.

Well now we know the iso's can be loaded using 1.32 USA Firmware, so don't upgrade. Not confimred working on jap 1.5 yet. But i bet since ps3 is coming out march 23rd in europe i bet since its coming out and good games are coming out in march we'll see it then prolly.

From PS3news.com
Quote:
And now on to the interesting stuff... many of our viewers have been reluctant to update their PS3 Firmware out of fear that an upcoming PS3 iSO Loader will not work on it. Today, we had a chance to speak briefly with the GODs @ Paradox... who have confirmed for us that, referring only to their own of course, the PS3 iSO Loader will work on PS3 Firmware up to v1.32! This means if you have not updated to v1.32 out of fear that a future iSO Loader will not work, you can now do so with peace of mind. However, until they have a chance to examine 1.50 we have been told NOT to update to it yet to be safe.
