They havent really done much, just a simple Linux command to copy the disc to an image. The hard part will be creating an emulator that emulates the protection on the games.
With Sony putting Linux on it they would have seen this coming and should have prepared for it. Its basically like releasing a PC game that can be copied easy by Windows to image but needs daemontools to emulate the protection on it. .

so basicly guys this means that to play backups on ps3 you use the psp method?
if so can i hook a external hard drive to it to run the games off?
or is it even possible to put your own hard drive into the hd slot in the ps3?

I already got the madden iso. I just can't imagine how long it's going to take to download something 17gb. The madden at 6.2gb wasn't bad. Luckily my rental place will be renting ps3 games. So it can just be hdadvance all over. Hopefully it is easier on ps3 to emulate the firmware. So we can just do emulating all over again to.

i found instructions from ps3news on how to install these programs, but my one question is, in the instructions, it says to format the ps3 hdd, am i guessing right, that when you plug in the memory stick that i have saved these files on - otheros.self and otheros.bld, that the ps3 will boot from the memory stick and there will give you the option to format? i know, not many people may have done this yet, but if any have, can you give us some insight please?

I wasn't expecting any til the 1st of december. But since it's game delivery day for walmart. They got a shipment in there of 2 60's. I want to load linux, and just can't wait to have an iso loader.

Ok, just asking for clarification. Do you think i'd have problems using an external hdd to back up ps3 games and to run them (when they've managed to do so) and would i be able to hook it up through the usb ports with no problems?? i'd appreciate any input. thank you
