Okay. I just followed the guide to the T, and I'm having the same problem as everyone else; Disc 1 is too big.

And, so you can tell that the 00 folders for both layers are the same size, I've included pictures of everything.

Here's my MOVIES folder;

Here's the contents of the 00 folder for Layer 0, in Apache;

And here's the contents of the 00 folder for Layer 1, in Apache;

I'm trying to say that the Movie folder is too large for the game to fit on one disc.

Alright folks I figured it out....for some reason my 02 folder is only 11.6 megs, seems a lot of yours is well over a hundred megs.

You have 2 options, since your iso size is off (which i will never understand.)

Dummy these files

97 - 01_14 this is 200 megs, kiss it good bye

If this is still too large, dummy the big mvi in the 02. When these movies refuse to play, hit start then triangle to skip.

@applecorp

Sorry bro, I was a bit pissed yesterday, over it now.

@ofolion

The movies you rip have 0 relevance. For instance, on the disk 1 rip, you are ripping movies that are contained on layer1 (aka disk2), except for the 2 movies I noted in this post. In the disk 2 rip, all the movies that are on disk 1 are gone, plus the staff credits that appear after you beat the game, but who cares about that :P

Why couldnt you??? I assume when the credits are supposed to play, you hit start, press triangle, and then the save prompt will appear. Try it out, speculating is pointless.

hmm...

@stang:

a) What exactly happens ingame when you come to a point where there is dummied MVIs? I don't think it freezes or anything?
v) crazzy12 has a point, coz I don't think you can skip or anything credits :P and i'v red that you can like save the game after credits..

edit:
sorry for typing so slow that you ppl wrote before I got it posted.. :P

edit2:
I haven't ever seen a ps2 game where you could just skip credits :P but as stang mentioned, somebody should try it? I can't coz im not even close to end :D

ive already answered that, you hit start then press triangle....nothing is wrong with the rip!!! Either try it out or wait a few months for a capable programmer to figure it out.

You just said you heard you can save after the credits.....so how does he have a point????????????? Press start, triangle, then save..

@stang

Yikes, not sure why your ISO is reading 12MB (I mean, look at the files, it's saying both files are the same except for modified date). I will assume the people who had problems with your disc 1 rip have something like this.

That being said however, by dummying the files you said in your guide (data1_1, movie folders 8-13, 98, 99), people should come up with a 4510MB file, which is slightly too big. I believe the people who get this can reduce their size further by dumming the ARISa-c and EDENa-b MVIs in folder 00, since you do not get access to the planets Eden or Alista until disc 2/second layer (I just dummied them for a test and got 4450MB, which fits fine). I can't believe I'm wasting yet another DVD on this, but I'll test this out and see if it'll work (that way, people don't miss out on any movies on disc 1 since I see some concerns from previous posts). Get back to you after some testing.

EDIT

Game boots, Teleporters work, gets past Seed fight, movies start fine, factory loads, battles work. I think I'm done with this game unless someone comes up with a factory working disc 2 rip (not important at the moment since I'm too busy with Ar Tonelico).

How does this sound for possible disc2 :

BIN (folder, untouched)
MODULES (folder, from layer 0)
MOVIE (folder, untouched)
DATA0_0.DAT (it really is 1_0, but I changed name)
DATA0_0.HD6 (same here)
DATA0_1.DAT (originally its 1_1...)
DATA0_1.HD6 (same here)
RGDMY.DAT (untouched)
RGSYS.DAT (untouched)
SCUS_974.90 (from layer 0)
SYSTEM.(from layer 0, not sure whats the ending sry ^^)

I made IML from these and then ISO with ALKOHOL's guide, from page 1. Then I burned it, and it actually started!! :D but I can't load it, cos I'm still in chapter 6.. :P

Somebody say if this sound even possible to work :D like .. in theory? =)

@Geoir:

I have spend like 7 DVDs too :) but I like to think I'm doing it for good purpose :)

Jeese,i thought this was all sorted,i dont know why you guys are having problems with this,after layer0 cant be over the size of a DVD-5,just think about it
the nuked release worked as far as i can gather up to C7,and all that was needed was a working C8 and onwards,of which i shown you what to do.
Unless there are issues that i dont know about

@stang,just out of interest,.....i havent even looked at disk 1,but why have you included contents from layer1 in there?
does the game not boot without them?,i mean everyone who played the game to c7 had no issues
was there a problem at the end of C7 that i dont no about?

@hursty

The disk 1 needs data1_0 or the game will freeze after the seed battle.

@thkvl

Read my post above yours LOL!!I told people what to dummy on disk 1 if you iso is too big, either do it or dont, i dont really care anymore! Time to put this on the back burner.

Are you serious???? I hope not. Between hursty's method and mine, disk 2 is fine....BTW what would renaming a data file accomplish? Honestly? I gurantee that wont work.

LOL its cool, just threw me off a bit :)

Psychospacefish aka a REAL PROGRAMMER is working on data0_1. The reason the factory and insectron dont work is because a couple wav's that are needed for them have been dummied. So with any luck, he will figure out which wav's are needed and we will have a 100% working 2 DVD5 rip :)
