Depend on the FOLDER size and the disks burming to.
4.7 Gb Single LAyer
8.5 Gb Dual Layer
Folder below 4.7 then straight burn with ImgBurm.
If over 4.7 then two options DVD Shrink to 4.7 or burn to DL disk
And yes IngBurn burns DL (>4.7Gb) to disk form folder. Read guide dialysis1 gave the link to..
Myself I first PREFER to create a ISO with IngBurn and view it with Daemon/PowerDVD before I burn ..... but that's just me. Creating the 8.2 Gb ISO takes about two/three minutes on HD.

Sup , Just to throw my hat into the ring , I used Dvdfab 5.0.6.0 and it was business a usual on full back-up.
dvdfab> custom ( i keep everything accept the French and make it a dvd-5 go figure)> Shrink > imgburn
Btw i didnt really know there was problem with the new stuff , and havent really had to update. the RCE pops up on shrink on certain dvds but thats it. I also havent check to see how "dirty' the back-ups are lately but with full disk back-ups your bound to get some rot unless your go over it with a fine tooth comb.
Anyways bring on the Bat

Well, I have the VIDEO_TS folder that contains a bunch of folders with file extensions like .BUP, .IFO, and .VOB. I tried using these files directly with DVD Shrink, but it says an unspecified error has occured when I try to back it up. According to one of the guides, I'msupposed to use FixVTS by dragging one of the .VOB files into it and hitting FullDVD. Do I just drag any of the .VOB files? What about the .BUP or .IFO files? When a tried dragging one of the files, it says one of the files couldn't open (VTS_02_0.VOB) and i think that screws up everything.
Also, ImgBurn doesn't seem to work because the DVDs I'm using don't appear to be large enough (not dual layer?).

When exactly do you get your error?
When you open the files or when you click on backup?

When I click on Backup. The files themselves seem ok to watch, I can see the whole movie in the little preview player.

Yeah I tried that, like I said it seems to be unable to scan one of the VOBs. Look up for more details.

Can't hurt .... then mount the ISO and view it with a Soft Player (Power DVD, etc.)
I use tool called Daemon to mount ISO's, very useful for Movies, Apps, etc. It's FREEWARE, CLICK HERE
You sound as if you have not made many backups. If you ripped with DVD Fab it should Open in Shink without having to FixVTS, but I do advise using FixVTS.
PS: This movie is over 4.7 Gb so it needs to be Shrunk (DVD Shrink, etc.) or it needs to go on a DL disk, one or the other .....
Oh ... third option SPLIT movie onto two (2) SL disks (I do that with long running films).

If you used "Open Files" in Shrink and selected the Movie folder (or VIDEO_TS folder), and you get an error after using FixVTS. It's HOAKED, re-rip and start over, try again !!

Hmm, it looks like it's a problem with the folders. As soon as I press Backup (using ISO) it says the error is the the file is invalid...

A common misconception is that Shrink does the burning, Shrink simply calls the burning program, ie either Nero, Imgburn, or in your case DVD Decrypter. Any of the three are fine but your error message in that screenshot appears to be the classic case of not having quite ripped the movie correctly.
I need to go back and re-read your posts from the beginning as i don't know if you used DVDFab or AnyDVD, but basically all that should be needed is to rip with either DVDFab or AnyDVD then use DVD Shrink as you normally would (and burn as you normally would)..

The latest beta of DVDFab HD Decrypter should be able to rip this (depends on what disc/dvd type). However, it has a lot of corrupted cells. So try the following:
1) Once it's done ripping, start/load VobBlanker
2) Import the IFO from VIDEO_TS folder via "Input Video Manager (VIDEO_TS.IFO)"
3) Create a new "output" folder from hard drive.
4) Browse and locate "Output Folder", then click PROCESS.
Sit back, it should be done in 5 minutes. Once it's done, import the new files (VIDEO_TS) from VobBlanker that's been ouptput to new "Output Folder" and continue on with DVD Shrink, Nero Recode or any encode/transcode engines.

Yep, vobblanker is a good idea, it certainly sounds like DVDFab isn't producing clean enough rips. Dialysis's suggestion re FixVTS is equally fine, i just personally use vobblanker.
Wall-E isn't out here (in the UK) until tomorrow but i'll wager that all i'll be using is DVDFab -> Vobblanker -> DVD Rebuilder with HC Encoder -> Imgburn (well Nero instead of Imgburn really as i'll be doing more than one concurrent backup)

What version is your DVDFab HD Decrypter?

I'm trying to understand you here. Not quite sure why your having problem with using FixVTS. FixVTS is a great tool to clean out junks and corrupted cells after your done ripping.

Hello buddy,
Nice seeing you again. Yep, it is simply one of the best idea. I don't mind using VobBlanker after DVDFab HD Decrypter at all. That is my routine because I still need VobBlanker to delete/blank out unwanted stuff anyway.

Dont get me wrong. I regret not using fixvts. But I had no trouble using anydvd ripper and shrink. EXCELLENT backup might I add. But the setup in main menu is screwed up like previous posts.
Wish I could say the same for rebuilder! Im having trouble backing up a SLIDERS episodic disc. But thats another topic. :)
To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

Instead of creating an ISO and auto burning with DVD Decrypter, try backing up the files to a new folder. Then close shrink and burn with ImgBurn.
