Well Creaky that's one day earlier then your counterparts here in the US :) We're the 9th.

@dr_ml422
You might want to really consider buying AnyDVD b/4 12/31 - that's when the free updates for life ends. Everyone who buys their programs after this date will only get free updates for a year. I realize some software does this like a/v's but imo totally sucks for Slysoft to be doing it.

hey hi there dr_ml422, so I gather you had some success, good for you, after reading on one of the past pages there was an update for anydvd, I didn't get the pop-up notice though, strange, anyway did the update this morning.

As many know we here in the states will not get Knight till the 9th, others already have it, I'm just assuming did you Brit people already got this thing? I always thought in the UK the DVD's came out a week later than us, when I was in the UK in the summer of 07 my friend took me to one of your blockbuster stores, I asked for a certain movie and was told it was not out yet, but it was out in the states, the young man said they get thiers later, thats why I'm kinda suprised you guys are getting them earlier than us, maybe things have changed, oh well whatever, anyway good for you guys.
Fred I'm in NYC. Mom n Pops get theirs early about a week or so. been out since last week. BB n the other big boys will get shut down if they pull one of those. Even the employees can't take them early. My man at the Mom n Pop hits you off for 1 day on those if you know what I mean.

I'm pulling the trigger on Anydvd. 1 ? If I get the regular 1 now at their discount w/free updates and decide later to upgrade to anydvd hd after the free updates date has passed, will I still be eligible for the free updates since I purchased now the anydvd?

Reason I ask is because even though hd might stay I strongly feel it's not going to be Blu-ray but some other hd format. They only have about 9% of the market now and the campaign is until 2012. They could cut any losses. I don't want to as yet if I don't have to. If you could get at me w/this please do cause I'm hopping on it today. Don't get me wrong Fab has done their job n well at that. I just want a strictly DVD decrypter proggie. Anydvd I could use w/just about any copy program and not have to wait for any updates on the mobile option of Fab which is constantly as of lately buggy. I don't even have a cell. Lol... I keep it really simple. Leave a message on my machine I'll get back to you asaic...

That's a good question. I would email slysoft and ask. I've had mine for ages and am not going to upgrade to Sony HD $hit and pay a fortune for a blank. But if you're looking to do that, it's worth inquiring!

You know what dr_ml422, you asked some good questions but unfortunately I cannot answer but hope others can.

I think like binkie said all the updates will still be free if you purchase before the end of the year, at least I hope that's true, it would suck if it was not, I 've had clone and anydvd for some time now, and purchased anydvdhd before the price deadline of last year even though I have never used it yet, not until costs come down for both the writers and the blank media.

The question you gave which was interesting, does anydvd hd work with blue ray, you know that's something I do not know or even thought of, I assumed HD meant bluray and the other that they discontinued, I hope so anyway, I would not be a happy camper if our anydvd hd does not work on bluray when the time comes.

I'm sure somebody here will know more about this, and as far as your question about getting anydvd after the year is over and still be able to get free updates even though you purchased the regular before, I don't think so, I think the two are separate puppies, but like I said I'm assuming, many reg's here at AD are experts on these things I'm sure somebody will give us the full low down.

lol, your lucky you know people at a mom and pop store, I have a couple good friends at my local blockbuster store, every Tuesday they always have next Tuesdays boxes already opened, I still try to nudge them hey guys come on, let me have that for a day, I wont tell anybody lol, they guard them like Fort Knox, and yes they had several boxes of Knight yesterday.

You wont go wrong with clone and anydvd, I know there are a lot of good free choices out there, but I'm far from being a techie, I wish I did have the know how to challenge some of the crap they throw at us, but clone with anydvd has never let me down, I'm computer stupid compared to most of you out here, so those two make it really easy for me. But like blinkie said, losing the free updates that will suck, I just hope that in the future they do not change their mind and charge for updated no matter when the purchase.

And last, speaking of all the other software's out there that also work just a little more complicated, when I first joined AD some years back, there was a guy here he handle was alcohol, he used all the freebies and than some, he might even have created his own stuff for all I know, he isn't with us anymore not that I know of anyway, this guy could break down anything, anytime there was a problematic movie he had it cracked the same day, he would post pic's of the whole break down, of course even when the full explanation it was still over my head as it was for others lol, but man was this guy smart, he could turn, flip, spin, change the movie in any way he wanted, he could delete or add just about anything with the DVD, even with clone and anydvd, you still get e.g. some of the add crap like the FBI warning etc. still lingers at times even though I try to configure to stop it, anyway, I miss that guy, I wonder whatever happened to him.

@FredBun

You're covered on AnyDVD HD with bluray. Here's the latest changelog:
AnyDVD History

6.4.9.0 2008 12 01
- New (DVD): Added support for new protections
- New (DVD): Improved speed of AI scanner with some discs
- New (DVD): Added warn message if "rip to image" is used with DVD media
- New (Blu-ray & HD-DVD): Performance increase in kernel mode driver
- Change (Blu-ray): AnyDVD will disable itself, if BD+ can't be removed
- Fix (Blu-ray & HD-DVD): Bug reading unencrypted files from encrypted
BD / HD DVD discs
- Fix (DVD): Bug introduced in 6.4.8.5, "CloneMap 2" error with some discs
- Some minor fixes and improvements
- Updated languages

You can see it supports HD and Blu-ray. I don't intend to own it since I will not do blu-ray.

@ garmoon. I don't plan on doing it myself, but am going to e-mail slysoft and find out if I decide to upgrade later will there be updates/upgrades included for free. But like Fred mentioned they're 2 different apps. Well I feel hi-def might still be around but as a different format and not as Blu-ray. Something affordable and practical for both the manufacturer and consumer. These Sony execs let their heads get too big on this one. I'm just going to get the info and even if they say yes it will be supported or no as it's different, I think I'll just go and get the regular anydvd.

Thanks Garmoon, and dr_ml422, you wont be sorry in getting it, especially now before the rules change.

Garmoon, or anybody else, by any chance, would you know with this latest update from anydvd, is the problem solved with Knight, for example with the AI Scanner thing and other issues, has anybody tried it yet? Thanks.

@FredBun
There's been a couple of reports here and at slysoft's place that you would AnyDVD as your normally do - the AI scanner does not need to be changed with that latest version.

I did see though that some using CloneDVD get a Clone 1 TCE error - seems CloneDVD may have a problem with the compression on this one.
Removing all unneeded audios and subtitles including the English subs resolves it.
Guess I'll find out Tuesday.

Thanks binkie, looks like I will not have a problem than, I never keep all the extra's anyway, my kids are deaf so of course I always keep the subtitles, but the sub's are so small as far as space I don't think I have any worry in that department.

I'm on the fence now for a bit about pulling the trigger on Anydvd after reading the posts in binkie's link.

@ Fred I think I already said this but just in case TDK went like butter through new beta of Fab. Compression and all. Watching it now to see if any glitches. Damn you could never get everything you want. Fab should separate the DVD from the mobile option. Keep it simple. At least I think so.

dr_ml422, lets see if I can help here, look, if it's the bucks your worried about, and you have the savvy to use these frebbies cause like I said before they are great for many folks just a little to complicated for me.

I went with clone and anydvd for a couple of reasons, the ease of use of course, and thier reliability, thier tech support was always there even though I never used it much cause most of the time the members at AD usually have the answers anyway, thier always on top with thier updates also, thats something I cannot say for many other works paid or free, and Ive tried many.

But if you really have the know how with the frebbies hell, why pay for anything, I would'nt, plus I would enjoy the challange if I knew how, and last you have till the rest of the month to make your desicion, keep on plugging you'll get plenty of input here at AD.

It's not the $$$. Just if I have Fab Plat and it's doing its job then a decision has to be made to add Anydvd. Like I said just get irked sometimes when Fab needs to get updated because of the Mobile option which I don't use. Yet. Got Till the end of the month like you said.

If money is not the problem then by all means invest in AnyDVD before the policy change. I waited too late for DVDPlat and will have to decide do I want to continue not using it when renewal comes around. I would imagine that a lot of us have both programs.

garmoon, what exactly is the renewal fee for Fab? Is it the whole price all over again, or something like $25 just to keep using it and getting the free updates/upgrades/support. Thnx.

Thnx dialysis. I don't understand why Plat or Gold come w/the Mobile option and Fab sells the Mobile option separately. Does anyone else feel as I do that sometimes just having the DVD option would of been ok so as not to have to constantly uprade because of flaws in the Mobile option? A few takes on this would be appreciated as always.

just my two cents worth, i didnt have a problem backing up the dark knight using dvdfab hd decrypter 5.2.0.5, VobBlanker 2.1.3.0, and dvd shrink running nero 7 platinum.
hope that helps those that only want to use the freeware programs, well, except for nero

erghhh! Less than 78hrs til I get my hands on this one. I'm probably gonna be the first one buying this one from walmart. I hear they stock between 12:00-3:00am. :D One of very few movies WORTH buying this year. I will honor Heath Ledger, it is sorta his legacy!

I hope his legacy will not be linked to pity from the MPAA or the big guns behind the academy awards. It'd be a shame if he got the nod because of that and not solely on his merits of acting the role of the Joker. Quite an insult imo actually.
