Absolutely. There are the same programs, in essence. BTW ... on the official Sony HDD's browser, the HD Advance filez are HD Loader ones!

Hope that helps ...

ive heard that HDL can be put onto your memory card is this true?
does HDA and HDL have different compatibilities, because one site: homepage.ntlworld.com/casey.miller/HD%20Loader%20Compatibility.htm says it does and http://www.ps2hd.com/list.php says it does what gives?

also, on http://www.ps2hd.com/list.php it says for example, dragon ball z budokai 3 works on HDL/HDA but on http://forum.hdadvance.com/hd_advance_compatibility.asp it says that DBZ3 doesnt work...anyone know a site that gives accurate and correct info on compatibility?

Here is the site that i used. Seeing how many games acutally work with hdloader made me go ahead and buy it, but now that its no avaiable anymore or being produced, i am not sure if you want to purchase one anymore, might as well get the hdadvance. I still have not had my questions answered if the hdadvance would let me still run my games which i downloaded using hdloader.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/casey.miller/HD%20Loader%20Compatibility.htm
I am unsure about downloading it to a memory card.

It will play the games you installed with HdAdvance. I recommend that you DO put it on your memory card. Because if you do, there are now HDloader elfs that can play God of War plus other games that normal Hdloader or Advance can't OR a patch for Hdloader.elf that updates it's core with that of ToxicOS 0.2, which has more compatibility. I recommend you buy Swap Magic. Or a modchip if you don't mind soldering. Hdloader for the memory card is still being updated, as far as i can see HdAdvanced isn't really..

i kno where to get HDLoader but i thought that it could be simply put onto a memory card, so i was heading more towards HDA, but then i saw the compatibility issues so im just stuck rite now on which to buy

I know it might have been awnsered already but I have found a website that offers HD loader and advance and also sells modchips as well that is located in Canada

http://www.consolesource.com

I have bought my copy of HD loader (was the latest when I bought it) there and the site is 100% secure as it is a VeriSign Secure Site

Is there any possible way to play DVD-9 games using HD Advance? I've heard of WinHIIP but i don't know how to use it, or if it will enable me to play DVD-9 games, such as GT4.

Thanks

Can anyone help me out, can someone send me a link on how to download HDL to your Memory Card. I have the disk and i was thinking about buying HDA to expand the capacity of my hard drive. Does anyone know if WINHIIP can allow you to transfer the games from one hard drive that used HDL, to onother one using HDA. Would the games run without any issues. ALso what is HDLoader.elf how does it work and what do you need to do to install, thank you.

Hdl and Hdl advance are pretty much the same(except hdl is updated to run more backups like God of War)I would recommend the newest hdl.elf file.Memory card exploits fall into to 2 catagories a modded system on nonmodded.check ps2hd.com for tutorials

>>>>>#1 is hdadvance compatible with my hdloader drives. Would the HDL games work with the HAD program, would it reformat the drives, would I lose all my games. I know that it will give me more space from that 160GB but not worth it if I lose all that I have already.

DonnyT69, yes, the HDL/HDA games are the same. The HDA system was expanded after lawsuits shut the original HDL program down.

>>>>>>#2 how do I get dual layer games to my ps2 hard drives. I do have an extra drive space on my pc to connect it to, but what do I do after I have it install on my comp, I don?t want to clear the drive on accident.

You need to use the PC to extract dual layers. I used WinHIPP and PS2Handiness. I used it once to extract a dual-layered game, Madden 2005 Collector's Edition. And it plays fine. Check out http://www.ps2hd.com for more info. Thanks.

>>>>>>#3 since I have the Internet adapter, I thought that I read something about FTPing to the ps2, is that possible? If so, would it be easier to do that instead of putting the hard drive in my pc. More information requested here, thank you.

You can ftp into your ps2, but you still have to hook it up to a pc to transfer dual-layer games. And it's much, much faster via the PC.

>>>>>#4 if my ps2 breaks, and I have to get a new one. The new ones are very small w/o the adapter, what are my options with all the Maxtor HD?s. Am I out of luck, any insight?

You could always get USBExtreme, but be forewarned - the compatiblity sucks and you can't use it with HDL/HDA games. I would recommend calling a local Toys-R-US and seeing if they have any of the old PS2s. They tend to keep some pretty old toys.

Sorry for not responding sooner ... spending more time with the fam. See ya!

Man, if you are gonna pay that much for it, buy HD Advance 2.0. HD Loader only supports up to 137gb. You can also get the memory card exploit, which is 'free', but have some cash for a couple spare memory cards.
