He just had to tell everyone he managed to backup Madagascar, it was the thrill of victory that made him do it.

@Creaky, since you have that new title under your name, can't you fix this site?? LOL. I'm guessing the ADMINS still know there is a problem. We haven't see any posts from them lately on the problem.

LMAO! Jerry. i'm on here so much that it's bugging the hell out of me too. i'm working at another site again for a few days this week and due to our firm's annoying internet policy i can't even surf correctly. i'm having to surf via my work pc 50miles away which is a slight pain but the AD timeouts are really winding me up. I'd ask the question but it's been going on so long i suspect it's gonna be a while yet before they find the gremlins.
(creaky whispers) i'm sure they stated somewhere that AD is running on Intel Xeon or something; i'd suggest to them that they need to get off Intel hardware and get something more stable like a (small but very powerful) Sun box (or maybe a small Fujitsu server - they run Sun Solaris exactly the same as Sun boxes do) but the cost would probably be too great, even for maintaining a small system the maintenance charges would probably be prohibitive. i'm here at this site while one of our new monster servers is being commissioned and the maintenance contract for the existing kit is £250,000 a year alone, never mind adding the cost of these 2 new beasts we're getting :)

I hear what you're saying Creaky. Its Christmas time so the gremlins are in the system just like in the movies. Don't let them overwork you.

Got to agree it has been bad, but this morning was really miserable. All I keep doing is signing off and signing on, and cleaning out the reg. Don't know if it is the popups causing it or what.

this has been going for a very, very long time, ever since they left the last servers, the time outs were driving us nuts over at the dvdxcopy site,it got to a point when we posted a post we had to copy it incase a time out hit and we lost our post..ever day here i had at least about 12 time outs or more..drd shut down the search feature to see if it would help, but the time outs are about the same with or with out the search,at the dvdxcopy site.

Thanks for the info, that is what I have been doing is copying my replys when I know the timeout is coming. I had been losing a lot lately.

ditto, i do that on most websites anyway, well if i'm writing war and peace anyway, as (in my humble opinion) browsers aren't too robust when it comes to going forwards/backwards without losing replies, never mind adding server timeouts to the equation..
