i like the wifi cause for all my eithernet cables i gotta dlink filled with eithernet cables and it is UGLY! with the built in wifi it can free up some space.

Dude PS3 has wifi too. It's built into the premium and you can get wifi routers to work with the basic

How can you say THAT is real innovation. Making things look pretty and sound pretty isn't really that innovative unless it has been completely untouched till it happend. And looking in my room right now, I can already tell that it isn't really that innovative anymore. Sure it was kinda cool when i first got my DTS-6.1 channel system, but just like the 1080p HD graphics on the Ps3, it will get old and boring.
Which is why i support Nintendo because they have a load of things they could do to change the game to make it different from all the other consoles (Ps3, Xbox360) games. That's the real innovation.

like you said above about how things were cool when you first got them, but like most anything including the wii remote..it'll be only a matter of time before that too gets old. in my opinion theres only so many damn times i could imagine mimicking shooting a bow in zelda before it gets boring. maybe i have different desires for excitement, but just like the rumble feature its only a matter of time till i lose interest. the only real positive to the wii remote is it will get all the damn fat kids out there some much needed exercise.

because they are a poor company who could really do nothing but be innovative with such low cash reserves. nintendo will probably never make another console unless the wii dominates the ps3 and 360. like u said, people was anvancements when things get old. are xbox graphics and a 700-something mhz processor that advancement? did you see the games they demoed? the graphics of some of the 3d selsing programs looked like i could have made them in flash. the tonk hawks game looked like the xbox's halo 2 in detail compaison.
the wii can to old school gaming but trust me, after a few moths that gets really old because alot of the old games suck and u overplayed them then, and now u overplay them again and its even worse. wii will be popular for about 2 years, maybe 3 at most. then it will pull another gamecube and sell really cheap and with half its old sale rates.
there will be few ports of games from 360 and ps3 to the wii, because its controller will be incompatable or dificult to master with so many types of gaming. i do not know what they are thinking with this whole thing.
sorry for wii-bashing, but i want to get these ideas out there for people to consider.

An upwards of 9-13 billion in cash reserves isn't enough to fund a cutting edge console? Come on dude.

No problem. Yes, this generations graphics are pretty awesome. I think this has to be one of the generations where graphics were boosted the most. But they are getting close to the eye potiential of viewing so the only thing that they could improve upon in the future will be Physics.
Nintendo varies the game, probably more than we know ( just my opinion ). Sometime in the future, they are going to have to break away from just boosting performance and increasing the new ways to play games( not including Eye Toy ).

Anyways i agree with u about ur comment on the wii on how it will pull a GC and get old after a couple of years. The whole remote thing is great for maybe a couple of plays but it will eventually get old. And is every game going to use that feature? Probably not. Its great that its full backwards compatible but all those games get old too after uv played them a million times. Especially if u have to buy/download them, its cheaper to just emulate cuz everything nintendo is on emu except for DS GC and wii ofcourse.
PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

ppl always think they wii will be great 4 kids but the people who r really buying r the hardcore gamers and they cant support nintendo for more than 2 years. but altta people will luv the ps3 for a LONG time, and will buy it for YEARS!

yeah, i've emu'ed so much i probably will get the we and be dont with it in a year and sell it as a "pre-loaded" wii for the same price i payed. sure nintendo has alot of low-budget innovation, but will it last?
and i was thinking of the 360 again when reading up halo 3 on bungies site. what really does the 360 offer us in terms of play that the last gen did not? all the games act the same as they have for years. nothing but prachics were really improved. with the ps3 there will be the new tilting, a whole new way to immerse yourself into the game and feel like you are the game. i was also thinking, while playing hl2 last night, i wont miss vibration too much if they dont include it cuz we all play pc games with no vibe, and i play pc games about 95% of the time.

I think the vibration function will be a lot more immersive than a tilting 'gimmick'which probably won't feature in half the games tbh.

not to mention when sega saturn came out sony said next gen starts with us, when dreamcast came out sony said nextgen starts with us, now when ps3 comes out sony said next gen starts with us. i mean m$ has made a good machine but what it comes down to is games and x360 still will not deliver compared to the ps3, and annibus you're right ms doesn't have anything new to offer to the table all it has is better graphix but nothing really innovative or special that sony and even nintendo wont have.

and that is what will lead the the 360 having no chance at the war of consoles, probably finishing last if the wii is as popular as things say.
and the controller was not a gimmick, they had it in design for a year or two. the reson everyhting about sony seems last minute is because of how hidden they kept it all. if they released that info earlier you know ms would have dont somethinbg to cover it, so with the 360's early release sony doesnty have to keep so under the lid because ms can take their ideas so much any more. it always happens that way. why doyou think there was little know of the ps3? because the officials were the only ones with solid knowlage and they wernt going to say anything.

Wasn't the intention of this thread to discuss the ps3, and not the Wii/Odyssey/Saturn/Xbox360?

oh naw im only talking about backward compatible nintendo games on the wii since one of the wii's strong point is full backwards compatible all the way to nes. Im trying to say that its not a great reason to get the wii just because of that.
I dont know how the wii discussion came up in this PS3 thread i just went along with it.

well now if the wii had old games that could be playable online like golden eye for N64 then i take back my statement.
So glad the online service for PS3 is free. Hopefully Sony wont change their minds or have some type of stupid catch where u still have to pay some amount.

free online has been one of the advantages sony has proclaimed over m$, but i'd also expect fees or a subscription based system for purchasing downloadable games, and i wouldnt be surprised if developers found ways to induce people to purchase extra content.

I dont know how you can all say MS isn't bringing anything new to the table. Sony has taken the best ideas from the 360, delayed there system by a year and incorporated them! There's no question, Sony even thanked MS for the online service!
Then they copied the Wii's best ideas!
Motion sensing? Downloading old games?!
And if the online services for the PS3 is COMPLETELY free they will loss a lot of money, and as the money grabbers they are, I really don't see it happening.
I still want a PS3, but Sony DON'T deserve a praise or a thank you for any of it.
