@ theridges
Ya I tried that several times, wouldnt boot from the usb stick. with hd, etc unplugged.
I did find a way to make a ntfsiso boot disk, that worked. When I got to the idump screen. I only got two options primary and secondary. no third option from via sata card. So I didnt try to flash it.
I wonder if the drivers are even installed on mobo for sata. (4 onboard sata ports)
Im gonna try that tomorrow

Ok I finally got it to find my via vt6421 card. Enabled it by switching to Legacy mode in Bios.
Im having trouble dumping my original fw. I start idump, and it hangs up on 1%. I tried it several times and it wont get past 1%. So I stopped there, not gonna chance bricking it.
Any ideas on what to do?

has your drive been flashed before??
anyways try the 10 second trick for dumping the firmware....
that means when it says 1% turn the 360 off and count to 10 and then turn it back on and see if it continues the dump..
if not i have no clue..

Thanks for the responses guys, I greatly appreciate it.
For that chipset, is it easy to install in your computer?
A few more though, sorry!:
Do I need a specific drive on my computer to burn games (I mean backup my games ;)) ? I know you need a DL DVD burner, but is there a specific kind I NEED?
Is it true I need a floppy drive?
Would I have to open up my xbox 360 every time to make a new disc?
Someone please help me out.

Does it specifically have to be those, or can it be any DL DVD burner?
Will any of these work fine?

ok, so after doing everything I not that my desktop will not boot from the USB. I check my laptop and it does. So i ordered a laptop SATA card. My question is are there any SATA cables inside the laptop like there are in a desktop that I should be worried about unhooking? The manual said to unplug all other SATA cables. The desktop was easy but the laptop wouldnt be being ive never opened a laptop.
