You can backup the nand by creating the JigKick then in the Pandora's menu, select backup nand.

You'll have to wait for users that has used this guide to answer you question. I don't need to use this guide because I already a JigKick. I'll try it out later.

ok i installed the totall newbie thing successfully onto my memory card which is a 2gb. then i took apart the battery very carefully and i took out the 5th pin as i was told to. And i am a hundred percent sure that it was the right pin.

i put in the battery and it starts on its on BUT nothing happens. it just sits there with a dark black screen. looks like i may have bricked it but i dont know how. soo if anyone can pleases help me IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

No, you've not bricked your PSP.
To see your XMB again, just connect your AC Adapter and open your PSP without the screwed up battery. It should work.

Are you using a Slim - be sure t use the Slim's option if you have one.
If not, then your battery could be fake.
Give me a screenshot of the your battery.
BTW, your memory stick could be fake too.

Check that link out to test your memory stick.

Probably not.
It's possible that your battery is fake.
What brand is it, how many mAh, and where did you get it from?

Try using an MS with a smaller capacity.

OOOOOOOYAAAAAAAAA baby, back in the psp scene again. Worked like a charm. Thank god I had another battery. Make sure when u cut the pin 5 , do not touch pin 6 at the same time or your battery gets fried. Thats what happened to me on my first one.

Thanks for the great guide! And everyone that helped.

I mean, instead of using a 2GB memory stick, use a 512MB memory stick or something smaller.

Upgrade to 3.71M33-3 if you have a FAT, but if you're using the Slim, I suggest you to upgrade to 3.72HX-2. If you don't play emulators and all that, but you have a FAT, then upgrade to 3.72HX-2.

And no problem =)

I have a 2gb and a 1 gb memory stick pro duo. THey are all real because i checked it out on the afterdawn forum and I got it from Best Buy. However when i try to use the TOTAL NEWBI EASY INSTALLER at the step where it says. Choose for 1) Fat psp , 2) ..... 3)Slim psp 4)Universal and m33 2.71 5) exit.

I chose 1 and it said:
PSP MS IPL Installer
Load IPL code F:/msil.bin
Can't open F:/msipl.bin
Press any key to continur

When I press a key it just shows the credits for who made this program.
I have treid option 1 and 4 on both my 2gb and 1gb memory stick PRO DUO.
PLZ HELP!!!!

strange...did u follow the guide and the installers guide exactly?
perhaps u should type a step by step of exactly what comes up on the program when u go to the next step...because when i first done it, the program didn't format the card (thats after u format it in the psp) and it failed, the second time it did format it again and worked pefectly
