Your opinion is perfectly alright, I've grown tired of a debate that seems to have no resolution and I would rather move on.
Now to Rebuilder and CCE: Go here and read this thread first.

Go over your setup again step by step and then move to this thread for more info and getting your questions answered.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/88747
Which version of rebuilder are you using, verison .53 turned out to have sone bugs and has since been replaced by .53A. What verions of CCE are you using the CCE bsic verion trial won't work. Do you mean buffer overflow error?
Overflow errors are ususally the result of more information then your system can handle. At what point are you in your backup when you receive the error? Prepare, encode, or build?

Quote: Btw I get an overflow error (think that was the message, checking it later) with CCE Basic. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
Please try it again and report the exact error. If it's not in the first segement, try to determine which one it is. It will say in the CCE window.

Sophocles, that's an interesting observation, I know some of them have that in common, not sure about all. It might be something to follow up on. Very astute my good man. Shoeila, I agree with sophocles, I also have been in the stereo/video business for about 30 years including a partnership in a stereo/video store at one point for about 5 years. Monster cables are a good profit source, that's all. Everytime I venture in a circuit city, that's the first thing they do after a purchase is push monster cable and connections. Give me a break. There are others who are having problems with copy2 but the good far outweigh the bad. If you read the threads you will see I am a big fan of Pinnacle IC8, I still think copy2 barely edges for quality. The deciding factor is speed, which goes hands down to copy2. I am viewing on a 56" mitsibishi HDTV(no comment, brian)and have used pip with 2 different DVD playrs to do a side by side split screen comparison in freeze frame. Again, rebuilder/CCE with dvdremake is the optimum solution, but no need to use unless it is a large movie because of time constraints. If it's a toss up on IC8 or copy2, then so be it, the difference is slight and I grow weary of the debate. Any of the 3 will suffice for anyone's backup needs.

OK, here it is:
"DVD Rebuilder experienced and buffer overflow. Error #0004. Process must abort."
This happend during rebuilding of a later segment. I used the files I ripped with DVD Decrypter.
I guess you're right about the hardware and that my old XP1800 + 512mb ram won't hold up any longer :p
I could increase virtual memory swap file?
Or could there be another explanation?

Ok. I've got to get a bigger screen, perahps I'll go with a high resolution projector. I also agree with your analysis of DVDcopy 2 and IC8, had it been a lot faster there is no way I would'bve dropped the extra $55 for DVDcopy 2. The problem I had with IC8 is it's so slow that it makes using CCE less daunting. In the end though all the trasncoders that I've tried are pretty good. If you're happy with it don't cahnge it.

Bigorange - I've been a real audio/video fanatic for quite a few years. So do not think of me as a monster cable fan. Most Monster cables are midrange at best. That goes for speaker cables especially (bass boomers) But the monster s-vhs cable I'm using is very well constructed for a change. I've compared it to quite a few good brands, like RGB cables from QED, IXOS etc. It stacks up well, so I use it. Nothing more fancy about it and I've stopped being a audio/video freak cause the less you have the more you enjoy it!

Your system may not be lightning fast but it's fast enough so that's not your problem. Adjusting your paging file can't hurt. What operating system are you using? Did you check to see that you are using DVDrebuilder .53a not .53.

Well that answers my next question. The error essentially means that DVD-RB ran into something while rebuilding that was different than what it expected. If it happened right at the beginning I'd suspect that you didn't have something set up correctly, but since at least some of the movie was fine I'd say that's not the problem.
Are you using CCE Basic or the trial of CCE SP?

Funny I should have thought of this. The other day I ripped a file and tried to encode and then went to bed. When I arose for coffee I noticed it had stopped about two thirds of the way through. I'm of course the type to pull hair and look for the most complicated solution possible. I tried once more to encode the file, and I received the same response. In fact I tried it 4 sperate times and then said to heck with it and tried a simple solution. I deleted my file and ripped it again and it encoded with no problem. I suspect that the problem was caused by read errors during the ripping process.
Ok guys, no laughing.

I think that it might be a good idea to start 2 seperate threads for using DVD-RB/CCE Basic. One for new users and one for advanced users. We will all have to promise to behave.

I'm using CCE Basic v. 2.69.01.09.
I will also try to minimize processes running in task manager, like you suggested Sophocles. Freeing up more resources seems like a smart move.
DMA is set to 5, I'm using WD 120GB discs with 8mb buffer.

There have been some people who apparently haven't gotten CCE Basic 2.69 to work. You might want to try downloading the trial of CCE SP and using that as a test. If it works I can send you an older version of CCE Basic. It should still work with your license for 2.69. I have to go now. It's my son's 6th birthday today and we're going out for dinner.

It's the successes of the difficult ones that really helps the process. Those who've only had successes and without any problems won't know what to do either should one ever arise. Sometimes we learn more from our mistakes.

I had an error in the rebuild phase after the encode early on and like Sophocles said before, I had to start from scratch. Rip, then rebuilder. No problems since. I have had good luck with Anydvd to rip while preparing. To bad I haven't bought that program yet. 19 days left on the demo.
