AnyDVD is a handy tool. But, I end up using Decrypter more because I like having the files on HD. Good to have them both. AnyDVD for on the fly and Decrypter for HD files. As Sophocles said, 'not an endorsement, just a preference'.

Yes but you must have a pretty good kick-arse system.

Not a good idea from what I hear. Rip the files to HD when using Rebuilder/CCE in File mode.

Are you saying they need someone with a warm fuzzy disposition? ;D

Soph,
I don't think he got the part about recording on the fly.
rj-x
No there, rip files to HD with Decrypter. Use AnyDVD to record on the fly. On the fly means not saving permanent files to the HD.

its a dual mp1800 512ram and u160 scsi (faster than raid ide for the most part)
I do have a 3.25ghz 4gig ram and raid0 10Krpm drives i could try, but thats my main system and trying to keep this whole process modulized.
So back to my earlier question, w/ anydvd installed just copy files from the dvd to the hd as if it were any regular files?

He has a server board with 2 MP1800 procs. It should be good to go.
I have had very good results with Anydvd/Rebuilder on the fly. When I don't need to use Remake it speeds things up by eliminating steps.

ok lets say for theory i'd like to copy the files to the HD w/o using dvddecrypter, could i simply copy the files to the HD and achieve the same process? from what I am understanding, the answer is yes.

Actually Sophocles is the one who convinced me to use Anydvd over DVD43. I am happy with it when I need it.

Your big unit has the capacity to do on the fly with AnyDVD to decrypt the disc. You have to have a kick-arse system as sophocles said to do that with AnyDVD. Most folks don't have the capacity.
For less drain on system resources it is best to use Decrypter. Plus recording on the fly is not for ripping files to the HD. You have 2 decrypter tools that serve different functions. DVD Decrypter is for ripping files to the HD for use with a transcoder. You can edit the HD files as well. AnyDVD is for on the fly. On the fly entails lots of memory and the files are not placed in a permanent HD file.

Ok understood, so anydvd is a middleman interface for anything accessing a dvd drive, so it can be decoded on the fly.
Makes sense now :)
btw sidenote brobear, raid1 is a mirroring system, while it doubles read speed, it is still singular write speed, i think you were meaning raid0 ;)

Not being smart either. What program did you intend to use to copy the files to the HD?

Yes you can just copy the TS files over but that would defeat the purpose of using anydvd for me. Your present method would work as well.
Since you were a doing direct copy of the movie then that would have been my preference.
I was just trying to match methods for trouble shooting. It is my hope that CCE 2.67 would actually be the fix.
