for everyone that has trouble getting their usb hd read by their ps2. I've done a lot, and this works. Pretty simple actually. Connect the USB hd to pc .. right click my computer --> manage then single click disk management on the left. One of the drives on the bottom of your screen is the usb drive it should be unallocated, and if it's not just right click on it and delete partition (make sure its the USB HD.. and that your not deleting the main hd or something) Then just simply format it to NTFS by clicking next next next.. blahh.. and then it the drive should appear on your my computer next to C drive. Then download this program.. http://www.hdadvance.com/download/ get the second one for windows unless if u prefer ms DOS. open the program and you can format the drive to FAT 32. Once complete, connect to ps2 and USBadvance will read it.

Ok guys, for a while I was trying to get the usbadvance I downloaded to work with my chiped ps two. It just went black during booting. I found the solution to turn of the macrovision fix in the chips boot menu(matrix infinity). Then I got all working, but I`m not impressed. I suppose this is a good solution for riped games with no vid`s an such goodies...Usb 1.0 is what I can see, fast enough for playing, but too slow for animated flix. I have not tried many games, but I belive that if you got a chiped ps Two the best solution is to get youre hands on an dvd burner. For those of you with no chip and that wants to keep the warranty I think this is an genial solution..

Minus factors:
1. Much work time. Transfering games to usb hdd is real slow even with usb 2.0.
2.Expences, because you need a realy big hdd if you want to store many games.
3.Only Usb 1.0 support in the ps two makes great graphics go choppy..Only a problem for intros an vids in games an stuff..But realy anoying in games where good graphic-videos is the prize for getting through a level for instanse.

Plus factors:
1. Handy with games stored in one place instead of all those dvd`s.
2. Laser saveing...(instead of playing burned games)
3. Ability to backup and play youre original games.
4. It works..:-)

Ps3 make it FREE!!!

i took out the hd out of the usb enclosure and put the drive in the back of the ps2 because many ppl said there were a lot of compatibility issues. Im just wondering how do i convert backup ps2 games using swap magic 2.0 onto the HD using HD advance or HD loader? THanks.

Hi there, I have just recently got usb extreme and a external hdd hooked up to my slim ps2, I have got gta san andreas and fight night 2004, I have noticed during the video sequences at the start of gta and during training mode in fight night is very slow, is there anyway this can be made quicker, so it is normal?

Sometimes when playing gta san andreas, it crashes and you have to restart the game and when you try to save it, is also crashes.

I am new to this and would be grateful if someone could provide new games that work and those that dont.

Thanks!

Who knows why some games work and some dont. But there must be a reason why they dont. The only think i know for sure is that the reason why the intro movies are choppy is cause the USB port on the PS2 is only 1.0 so the transfer rate from the HDD to the PS2 is slow. If you can some how convert the USB port to a 2.0 then there wouldnt be a problem.

Oh by the way I think xafier's site is awsome ....great list of compatible games. Theres one think i think its weird tho. His site says Prince of Persia: Warrior Within works but i couldnt get mine to work. It hangs after the Ubisoft logo. Is there a way to make it run that i dont know of???

i got POP - warrior within PAl but it didn`t worked for me,
on Xafier`s site it says that the ntsc version is working but he got the information from this thread: http://www.ps2hd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1487 so i think he just copyed it.
i got a couple of games in ntsc and pal and i think if one version doesnt work the other one will also fail.

You guys should read information on psxforum website

program you must download is winhip

30% of the time a game hangs its because of the mode of the game
winhip gives you fast, with usb 2.0, transfer and a lot of options on patching and organising

the other problems you get is double layer dvd,

god of war, gt4

even with the originals its hard to get them to work

good luck

Chriskhan:
i did al the installations with usbextreme_wininst, its easy to use and you can also delete or rename the files.
i think the games are still showing up in the USBextreme menu because you onley deleted the game but the .CFG file still has information of it. you can open the file ul.cfg with notepad and remove the line from the game you just deleted, but be careful and backup the file first before you change anything, and i`m not really sure if it will work i never done it.
and Xafier also got a program to install games and another to sort the game list in alphabetical order.

i think you best can use just one partition , and i onley used usbextreme with games so i dont got anny experience with mp3`s or movies.

EDIT: this looks interesting, http://www.broadq.com/

Here is a list for you guys to use too, but i wont be adding the dates when i add them so you will have to surf through.
These game work on my hdd and another slim ps2 ( but mines not a slim) just so we all can sleep at night and make our choices easier on which games to get.

Xafier's site is good too go have a look.

I think it comes down to how you set up your hdd and what version you have as a ps2 weather usb extreme is right for you, it is up to you. i like it but it would be better if they put out a new version of usbextreme.
ps. sorry it took a while to write back i been on holidays.
