Hey,
As prmised I have tested:
Socom 2 U.S. Navy Seals
Resident Evil Code Vernoca X
both NTSC and they didn't work with USB Extreme 1.0 =/
Does anybody know where you can download patches/fixes for the non working games?

Why is it that games played with swap magic always work and games played on usb extreme like never work? isnt it the same thing just that you ar playing games off the hdd instead of a cd/dvd?

On the USB Extreme homepage they wrote you should use NTFS to get more space out of your harddisk but this isn't true you can only use FAT32 (Files Allocation Table 32-bit) not NTFS (New Technology File System) or plain FAT. Write down a list of the games that aren't working for your (all in this case).

Are you talking about initially formating the hard drive as NTFS before using USBextreme software to format it? So what you're suggesting works is formating the drive as FAT32 and then running the USBextreme format? Thanks for the help.

Yeah that's what I personaly believe is the best, format as NTFS with 'standard' then format it again using the USB Extreme software. This way your have cleared all old data off your HDD and your games will load faster... (when you are done you should have filesystem: FAT32)

I've tried Fight Night Round 2, NCAA 2006, GTA: Vice City, Robotech Battlecry (CD) All of which are NTSC and all do the same trash. Usb Advance is garbage. Guess I'm download a PAL game and see if thats the problem

Yupp it's totally ridiculous how many games don't work with USB Extreme... :'( All we can do is hope that they come out with a new version that can boot a higher percentage of games. At least we all got with a coupon voucher thingy hehe :) They should be releasing a new version soon since 1.0 is gettig kinda old and bad reviews... Before there was always just HD Loader for the old big PS2 then they came out with a new version called HD Advance (more campatability I suppose hehe). I'm going to e-mail them and see if they respond to when the new version will come out. When and if I get a reply I'll post it here. As you say I'm sure we all kinda fell ripped off in a way =/ or atleast I do...

Hi wipperx,
Make sure the pins in the back of the HDD are set as MASTER before inserting it into your USB Enclosure, also make sure your USB Enclosure is downwards compatible with USB 1.1... PS2's USB ports suck and only use 1.1 instead of 2.0. I always take the HDD out of my USB Enclosure it takes way to long to transfer through USB (USB really blows!!!) I instead connect it via IDE in the computer. Installing a 4.5GB game takes 2 sec... Anywayz here'show to format correctly... (assuming your HDD is in the computer connected via IDE) Go to -> Start -> Right Click "My Computer" -> "Manage" -> Disk Management -> Now take away the that HDD completely the entire partition... Then add it WITHOUT formating it... then format it using your USB Extreme software on the computer which you can also download from their homepage. GL&HF USB Extreme is a huge rip off don't even consider buying... Sell it to some idiot, I sold mine for 170 euros + hdd (80gb) :-)

hey tony thanks for the response. Few questions before i try it. Do i have to connect it to the pc or can i connect it usb(would prefer that) I cant delete the partition on this pc and then add this hd onto it. the maxtor drive is IDE and this dell pc has a primary sata drive which has a conflict when trying 2 add the drive without formatting it. However, i can do it on my sister's pc in the morning. So can i connect the HD through usb, delete the partition.. and then connect it to her pc again and let the pc automatically recognize the drive(did this b4-but i dont think i tested it with usb extreme then(that was when i was trying 2 attempt to put the HD with network adapter (v7ps2))) But that failed so im at usb, which i dont mind even tho its more slow. After the drive auto recognize, i should run it with usb extreme? Thanks a bunch.

Once you've transferred an .ISO to the USB device how do you bring it back as a solid .ISO instead of 4 separate (1gb) chunks?

hey tony, i just put the usb drive into my sisters pc..and deleted the partition. But now the pc wont let me just plug and use the drive.. so when i put it in i right click manage drive to check the 2nd drive.. and it says unallocated. I tried using winhiip to format the drive..but says something like invalid ps2 master boot record. THe drive is in master mode, and this usb enclosure drive i bought off a ps2 site and it said it was compatible with all versions.

Ok, well that's good it should say unallocated space. It's good you have it in master mode that's also corrent... The program you said you tried formatting it in "winhiip" I'm not familiar with :-/ Anywayz try formatting using windows in the device mangaer where you were before and took away the partition, now you should re add it but when it asks which filesystem you want to use it should also give the option of not formatting it. Doing so and completing the wizard will leave you with allocated space with no filesystem. Now format it with the USB Extreme software that you can download from their homepage which you use to install the games with... ;-) Before adding any games make sure it's using FAT32 after the format using usb extremes software.
Also to answer a question I posted earlier, I found a solution to bring your games back to one big solid .ISO after having installed them... just google simple file joiner then download their freeware spyware free program. I was then able to burn out my games and worked perfect with swaps magic 3.3 ;)

Hey i did the adding drive without formatting successfully. Now when i put the usb drive into the ps2.. it won't recognize or make any attempt at it unlike last time, where it said invalid format or something.
