i just noticed that you have a chip so yes for you battlefront 2 woulndt have been a porb for you but for many others it was and i think you relying to much on a patch being developed as there is many patches that get made and the ones that done are for very popual games sorry if you think im being blunt but thats that i
dont really care cos if you are doing it right you should need a backup due to you should own the game already so in my opinn what i would do is play the game with chip disables put an iso on ur hard drive and by the time you need the back up the patch will vbe made or you will be that bored number 3 will be out

well muchachos like i said ill just think of it as a contribution to the Raiders 2006 Premireship Title lol ive pretty much given into this anyway like was said its pretty much beyond all of us to come up with something to solve the problem it was looking pretty good when "hursty" took interest into the game but even he said there was some hefty protection. oh well lets just pray this kinda thing dont continue with other games. or someone comes along instead of telling people they are not doing enough to solve the problem would actually HELP! instead of bragging about how much time he/she spent in a shed or whether or not they like rugby league. good luck muchachos:)

I couldn't agree more dude... But I'm afraid that once Sony takes a look at this protection, and sees that NO ONE has done nothing much about, we'll have alot on all of our plates, and bite more than we can chew... Which is a terrible thought...

sony wont follow suit on this,be rest assured
imagine the amount of people who have modchips fitted..its not against the law entirely to have a chip fitted, and the amount of complaints they would get from people getting the game to boot..
i have seen reports already of people taking the game back, complaining it dont work, because they dont release the chip needs to b dis-abled
i am looking for an app right now that can handle dvd's,and am running some tests, trying to mount the image and cloning it,and create an image with alcohol, see if that works.of which i doubt,as i dont even know what encrypted in it
a-ray has come up with nothing
it seems stupid, and too late for all this
the ps3 is coming soon, then we will see the shite hit the fan

Hursty...
Sony won't follow suit? I used to work for Sony dude, i know what their plans are... Wasn't their game MediEvil close to the end of the PsX days or atleast 3-4 years before they stopped making games for that console? Anyway, the point i am making is, that this is only a test version of some sort of protection that they will use when they bring out the Ps3 which some of my friends say, who still work at Sony right now... And all the rumours might be true that they will start bringing more of this sort of protection out on only other major titles of games.. Rumours had it right from the start, where a game, if it was copied, say a NFL game, when in the actual game play the bowl was thrown and it would drift into the sun's light and disappears completely and the game just can't be played after that? Well, they have don't that with the menu... And one thing you have forgotten... Sony will follow suit coz Sony here in Sydney, OZ did pump those games out! They mass produce them at the HO in Huntingwood then get process workers to machine assemble the games contents like the inlays and covers etc then the disc comes off the small conveyor belt filled with spindles 100 discs in each atleast 2-3 trolleys full... That's alot of originals indeed... To be honest, people will complain about it not working with the chip, so what... Sony doesn't care, they'll just say, don't mod your playstation, and besides, most modchips these days can be disabled.. It's the guys who copy this game they wanna it hard not the people who buy it... I don't thing cloning the DVD will do... It's not like the PC where we all have seen it done, no probs. if you get it working, good luck, but to be honest, i don't think you can... Not this protection... The Ps3 has been rumoured to be all 8.5gig of game or more... I heard a rumour that they will bring out games like 10 gig on a new disc format... Has anyone heard of this? You know the only way to get good protection on a game and give it enough time for a good release in the stores before a copy gets out is to just scatter code from future game trailers throughout the disc so that it will take a hell of alot of time to get it out for a release from a group for it to fit on a DVD5 disc or in this case a DVD9 if they plan to goto something bigger... Oh and just fill certain areas with alot of junk mixed in with the game code... So that it's one BIG job for a release group to do... Only if it's a good game though...
Booboo...
Who said i was moaning and groaning about this whole situation... I'm only exercising my rights by saying the truth dude... If i was doing that, i'd be nagging you like a real married woman does... Hahahaha... Don't count your chickens before they hatch dude, that is, about Hursty's plan you mentioned... We have to wait and see... The only way i see it, is if you code your own load routine as a patch which you can apply over the existing one so that it'll boot no matter if there is a modchip or if the game is a backup... I mean you code one or modify the one on the original disc to ignore ALL other commands and load the game, just like what the Modchip does...

you copy the file open it up and make it do what you want it to do but who care and yes ive got a nagging wife and you sound noting like here lol
anyway your theory could be right cos if sony are testing new protections i think it the sort of game to choose cos say they put it on something like fifa or evo there would be alot more going back than this game so yeah im with you and i think the disks you are talking about are hddvd or blu ray i think they are called but cant see them being used due to not yet been releaded but then i think sega done that with the dreamcast they had 1 gig disk so you need 2 rip them down but who care when the ps3 comes out lets hope we can even get in it never mind fit a chip
good luck with the game

you may be right :(,
however,i would have thought they would have used some sort of protection like this before now,but like you say, maybe its some sort of test release, which is why its more important than ever to patch it
i am no game hacker, and not for minute would i say i could patch this thing,
and all the simple methods have failed miserably, trying to clone it was a long shot, which didnt work
the ps3 is on its way,
along with the blue ray disk (25 gb)

This game unfortunately probably won't be patched.
But, the PS3, given enough time, will be broken. It doesn't matter what Sony do, there will always be a response from the hackers out there. Some may just take longer than others.

Hursty...
That's what i heard about the Blue Laser... 25 Gig? Gee... I thought it will only be about 15 gigs... There's probs there already... NO ONE would want to download 8 gig or more... I done 12 gig on my 1500k lines, even though it was a torrent file, it took 3 days... Just for one file! If it was downloaded through newsgroups that would take atleast 1 day to do 12 gigs... I think that will be the hurdle or a quick fix for Sony to stop alot of people in there tracks... Guess what you'll all have to buy the original! Gee.. To even buy a blank when they sell them and the burner would put you out of pocket at first... Well, as i said, no with that room on the disc... They can throw alot of junk across the disc even in the game code to make the job a little tough for ANYONE to release a shortened version of the game... We'll have to see what happens...
I guess what i see is, a 1 disc game (25 gig) becoming 2 disc game (8.5 gig) as soon as a release group is done with it.. If it really will be a even a 15-20 gig game with 5-10 gig of rubbish trailers or so... Damn... Hey this might be the way movies willl get done aswell... All the extra added junk mixed in so that our easy video ripping tools can do them no more... Which in turn will make them garbage coz they have to read a new format etc...

Yeah, just had a look at a site about the BLUE LASER... Amazing stuff... The thing is though the standard DVD will be 15 gig, the dual layer version will be a HUGE 45 gig! Awesome if you want to swap PsX/Ps2 games in .rar files... Also ROMS aswell ! Yeah, very big indeed... Nice for storage, a nightmare for game collectors like myself, if and when we can backup these future games..

Hey why would they go at the expense by not allowing us to copy the new RUGBY LEAGUE 2 game, I have just copied the new wrestling one WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2006 and Tiger Woods 2006.
You would of thought they would of gone to the expense of putting some kind of codes on them games which are sold world wide rather than NRL 2 which is mostly poppular in Oz and some parts of England where Rugby League is played.
Just a thought would NRL 2 from the videoshop have the same protection as the brand new game from shops has anyone tried to copy it with a modship installed and see if it worked.
PS guys let us know.

Firstly, Sony in Huntingwood, Sydney (if your not in NSW, OZ) are the ones that mass produce the game by the pallet... They would have done atleast 4-5 pallets 6 rows high, 12 boxes per row, 25 originals per box so you can work out how many they put out... They are the ones who got either the guys in NZ to put the protection on or gave the tech guys at sony the source code to add to the game when they got it via a direct broadband line... They then put it all together on there massive networked computers in the duplicator rooms and then molded the DVDs there... It's an amazing process, i seen it all... Then when all the goods had been packed for shipping, NZ gets their lot first and then the UK (only a small shipment) and finally it's a sort of global release thing...
No the video stores will have the same protection... They get the games from the same source...

Yeah I understand that, but why would they go to all that effort into that one game, surely it would make their worthwhile in doing the Tigerwoods 2006 one as it is sold world wide where as NRL 2 would only be poppular in Australia and parts of UK.
Can you see where I am coming from, I have a suspission that it is all down to the NRL company who market this product, they know that it is not going to be that successfull overseas so they want to get the most of the money out of the resourses they have in OZ, and to make the most of the money they can get..

maybe it was a test so maybe if it works as sony wants it to well expect more games next year

Okay it could be some new type of mod protection, of that I have no idea. More likely this game hasn't been rebuilt properly. I agree with Hursty and Boobooman. If they had some grand form of copy protection, wouldn't they use it for games like San Andreas or God of War? It would make no sense to hold such a method of copy protection back, or to use it on an obscure game that few people in the Western Hemisphere care about. Now to get this thread back on topic, what methods of burning this game has everyone tried? Obviously most people have tried a straight burn, so forget about that. Has anyone tried all three methods of rebuilding? Has everybody checked to make sure their burner is in DMA mode? Are you making sure you don't have a lot of CPU intensive programs running in the background? Have you tried different burn speeds? What about alternative DVD burning programs like Alcohol 120% or Nero? Has anyone tried defragging their hard drive to make sure it's not cluttered to hell? Has anyone tried updating their firmware, then burning? Has everyone double checked, then triple checked for dummy files? My money is one of these issues is the culprit, not some magic form of copy protection for some game few people have ever heard of. Ochm's razor=The simplest explanation is usually the correct one. That's my two cents, feel free to call me a fool if you like.

If it was a simple issue of rebuilding the game would play on most mod chips because mod chips dont require a rebuild, only swap magic. Hursty said there is a hefty copy protection on it, and there is. Nothing to do with rebuilding, we just need to find a way to remove it or bypass it in someway. The fact that the original needs modchips to be turned off shows that it is copy protection rather than a rebuild issue. As for dummy files, I cannot see any. ANd others have said they have not found any.

Well, the way i see it is that Sony may have been approached by the NRL to be asked if they can mass produce the game with protection, obviously San Andreas was held back from the PC and XbOX users for some time so that the Ps2 made alot of sales for that one game but had no protection.. And Tiger Woods game is an EA release which Sony has never done as far as i know and God Of War's so called protection was to throw it on a DVD9 with some added junk and make the movie bits longer... All ConFuSiON did was come along and down sample it a bang, fits on a DVD5 disk... Sony was the first company to protect PsX games, like Ape Escape and then MediEvil... Others then followed the trend... I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens in this case... Even music CDs have copy protection done by Sony Music... I remember the album from GOOD CHARLOTTE... It was the first album Sony Australia did with a form of Copy Protection...
As i said before, we can only see what happens next...

I'm still not buying it. If it is some form of crappy mod protection, someone will patch it. Libcrypt was defeated almost as soon as it was introduced. This game will be no different, if it's even mod protected. I'm not claiming to know more about this than Hursty, I certainly do not. But sometimes it takes a fresh perspective to solve a problem like this. So be more specific. Maybe it's not a dummy file issue. People seem to be more willing to comlpain about this game than offer up solutions to the problem. I know some people have tried rebuilding with Nero and IsoBuster. What about with CD/DVDGen, what about with Expert. I believe someone in this thread said they already got it working by revbuilding with Nero and IsoBuster. It is possible. I don't give a rip about this gamme, but I hate to see it give so many people problems. If everybody would simply list what they've tried and haven't tried, it would expedite the process greatly. Physique I beilive you started another thread entitled "Don't let the game companies win," if everybody hear bitches and moans and speculates about mod protection that may or may not exist, that's exactly what happens. The more time we sit here complaining about this game, the less time we spend looking for a solution. So people what have you tried, and what have you not tried? Don't say everything, because noone has tried everything. Be specific.
