okay... i got a maxtor 6L040J2 hard drive that is lockable.. and it locks but for some reason it still doesnt work in my xbox.. can someone tell me why?? i get your xbox requires service no error codes NOTHING.. ive read everything page here.. and still nothing.
please help me

OK... I finally got a larger drive installed thanks to info in this post (needed to make sure the virtual C: partition wasn't mounted). I can boot the new drive and everything looks great except XBMC will no longer play videos and sometimes doesn't properly refresh screens. I can copy games to the HD and play them, boot between all of my installed dashboards, etc. It's just that XBMC no longer works very well. I'm using a WD1000 100Gig HD, I choose to create an F: partition with the xboxhd app. Any ideas? Thanks.

I think there is a new version of XBMC out that plays video great, no more locking up of videos :) Get that one

Why does it only have an issue when a larger drive is installed? If I have it on the stock drive, everything works great. I did try disabling the Autodetect F & G option with no luck.

Well I completely removed XBMC and it's external settings files, reinstalled on F:\Apps and it seems all is now well.

Sorry I was away from puter , Yeah seems like F: partition gives me problems aswell , Mainly with Emulators . And good deal on getting XBMC to work :) P.S. I have only seen the new XBMC on torrent sites :/ .. PM me I'll give you the torrent site link that has it .

I am having the same problem with XBMC after upgrading my hd but my problems dont stop there I have a few games that stopped loading with the new hd like nascar06 nfl06 nhl06 any idea I tryed everything even running them off the dvd.

try deleting the "CACHE" in E: and the last resort would be deleting the gamesaves for the game that won't load.

Well I have not deleted the GameSaves thinking that very same thing but not the cache let me try that..

Hey i have not yet softmodded my xbox but i am preparing my harddrive that i am goin to put into it it is a 80GB Seagate and i have already gotten the xbhdm. v1.9 and when i go to make-iso-win.bat like it says so it opens but says bad command or file name WHAT DO I DO?? any help is apprecitated

u cant do that if u dont have it softmoded u need your c and e drive before u can do that u need to no how to ftp from your xbox. people i found out what kind of screw driver but not 1 is right which 1 is it there is 1 that says T10 T15 the other 1 says T10 T20 so i need the T10 but which 1 do i need T15 or T20 thanks

I have followed this tut. about 4 times, i get through the whole thing no problems, but then i get to the end, i cant lock my hd, it says its 'frozen' and cant be locked, i have tried on 2 machines and have had no luck, any help would be great!!!

do the hotswap thing plug the power cord for the hdd in at the first menu after the computer boots from the cd

Hello, I'm having a problem with this. I bought a softmodded XBOX and I want to upgrade its HD. The problem is, I did exactly as this guide says, using a Western Digital WD800LB-55DNA0 80GB disk, but I can't run the evox dashboard.
I checked the disk, the files are there and the disk is locked (because if I don't unlock it, I can't see the files), also if it isn't unlocked the xbox gives error 05.
But when it's been locked, the XBOX boots into MS dashboard, not evox. I tried all jumper settings with no luck. If I put the old hard drive back, the evox dash works fine.
Anyone knows what can be wrong?

hey footbal95, thanks for answering. I didn't mod this xbox (I bought it as it was, they ripped me because they told me it had an aladdin XT, it doesn't). I don't have the required games for the exploit so I can't re mod it.
I found out it has the NDURE mod. This mod gives you a "fake" C drive, when accessing it via FTP. I unlocked the original hard drive, and read the actual C drive and it was way different. I copied all that to the new hard drive and voila, it worked.

if any one is haveing the issue with a frozen hdd you can down load a program called hdderase.exe this will completely erase the hdd of all info including security features (ie frozen) its a little hard to find but if you type it in on google you should be pointed in the right direction although you may need to use a diff computer if your pc bios dosent accept security changes....

just to add this program was created by an ex employee of seagate and he was in charge of hdd security features if you are going to upgrade you xbox hdd to anysize use this first it will resovle all issues ...
