any thank you zoso and pacman. i will use the fixvts on the files, but say for instance with saw 4, it looks to me its just the bracket thing, but no program will even analyze it. i know how to open an edit before i rip, i just don't know what to edit. and while alot will just say "take the main movie, blah blah" i want the whole thing, menus, special features, etc. otherwise i could just buy 5.99 versions of the movies.
on a diff note, i downloaded a ton of programs, but as for fixvts, is 1.603 the newest one? and are there any newer versions of dvd shrink? alot of the programs since the recent FBI handslap have not been updating or atleast i can't find any new updates.

Check around, there's a modified exe file that supports ImgBurn as a Shrink supported burner for automatic burning. 3.2.0.15 is the last Shrink and 1.603 is the last FixVTS that I'm aware of. Occasionally RI4M will still do a release that DVDFab and AnyDVD haven't been updated for. In 1-Click it processes problems like brackets on its own.
Check around and see how others are doing Saw IV. I'm not crazy about the Saw series, so it sets low on my priority list. You might try RI4M in 1-Click mode and see what that does. If nothing else, you'll have another good decryption setup in your arsenal. The last version is 1.7.1.0. All you need to do is have the last versions of DVD Decrypter (not DVDFab HD Decrypter) and DVD Shrink installed before installing RipIt4Me.

thanks, ya i tried R14M and it analyzes it but after i click continue/start it just crashes it. i read the article on ri4m being shutdown so i turned off the updates but i dunno ha.
now if im to purchase a paying program, which would you suggest DVD Fab Plat or AnyDVD?

I didn't mention any names. You must have felt guilty. You can do this movie without spending a dime. All the answers lie above in the 9 pages of posts. If you want to buy programs I would get AnyDVD and CloneDVD both from slysoft. They offer a 21 trial on both programs full versions. Download them from slysoft.com . If you use them it will be backed up before midnight.

Talked with the vendor regarding the DVDFABPlat bundled in my software, I made the right decision to leave it alone. Again, as always, thanx for the input, patience and the 'half full' perspective you and the rest,put on things, even when we ask the same questions, over and over again.

For the money I'd go with DVDFab Platinum. You get everything you need in the one program. With Slysoft you need both AnyDVD and CloneDVD 2. It was high before, but when Slysoft jacked the price by 40% it became outrageous. Both companies have lengthy trial periods, so give them a test drive and see which you prefer.

Downloaded and used trial version of DVDFABPlatinum...one(count 'em)click,39min03sec later, a complete copy with menus of "SHOOT 'EM UP. Oh well, one way or another, it looks like spending a little money is in my future.

I often wondered why slysoft does it that way. maybe its a programing issue where they have different programmers doing each program

Tough to rip, until I tried "Anydvd ripper".Picked up the stored/ripped file with dvd shrink, and then it compressed and burned as usual.
I always "reauthor" to make the file as small as possible before compression. Need all the quality I can get on a Sony 52 lcd.

Ok apparently my thread got merged in with this one, i have a question about 3:10 to Yuma.
Using DVD Fab HD Decrypter to copy to hard drive, then DVD Shrink to re-author just the main movie and english audio/subs, it works just fine, except there is a huge delay at the start of the movie.
Ive ripped like 30 movies and this is the only one where there is like a 15 second gap before the movie starts, then you see the lionsgate logo. Movie plays fine throughout entirey except for 2 or 3 brief moments were it skips for like 1 second or maybe even less then continues on fine... but its JUST enough for me to notice
any ideas? Also on my dads dvd player back home, i noticed the movie starts with english subs on by default, but not the dvd player at my house.. weird?

Your dad's DVD player is probably set to show subtitles all the time; otherwise the subtitle would play automatically in yours too. After DVDFab has done its job, run the files thru VOB and/or FixVTS, to remove the annoying glitches. Then reauthor in Shrink. Every so often they put out a title just to aggravate us, but in the end they seem to be 0 for all the ones they've done.

Ok here is one for you guys:
I made a backup copy of 3:10 to Yuma but when I tried to convert using videora it didn't work.
I got this error message:Failed to convert video (Error code 100000)
Any Suggestions?

If you look at the forensic analysis of 3:10 to Yuma (courtesy Anydvd) you will find an amazing degree of protection and encryption. A lot of false flags in the file structure.
You need to save this (Anydvd ripper)to your hard drive carefully to back up successfully

DVDFab and AnyDVD should both be doing this one by now. For best results I usually suggest ripping to the HDD and making sure the source files to be used are well "cleaned"; process with FixVTS or whatever when needed for video compliance. The key step is getting good decryption and copy protection removal, and getting compliant files. Once that is done, most any of the good transcoders and encoders will do the shrink job. Most often the copy protection is in the menus and extras, meaning movie only is a good choice, unless there's some outstanding need for the extras. About the only thing that messes up transcoders is too much compression. When you have to have a certain transcoder, like CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD, that means the decryption and copy protection software isn't doing the job by itself. Normally AnyDVD gets the job done by itself, but in the past we've seen cases where it only worked with CloneDVD 2. Now that Slysoft is so ridiculously expensive, I suggest going with the free DVDFab HD Decrypter and Shrink or the retail DVDFab Platinum.

I've never done it before but you can do it with AnyDVD and Clone DVD Mobile. I also think DVDFab Platinum will do it. All are pay programs, but Fab will be one price and the the triple programs from slysoft would have to be bought to do what Fab does.

you can use dvdfab platiumn, CloneDVDmobie or Intervideo DVD Copy6 all have free trials.

Ok so heres the strange thing... I made another copy, this time i cant seem to notice the skips at least not in the same location as the last burn but i didnt watch the entire film through so they might be somewhere else. When played on my xbox 360, it starts almost immediately... however when i bring it upstairs to play on our standalone player (a cheapo 30 dollar walmart one) i didnt notice skipping during the major scenes, but it still took a long time for the movie to start. Like i put the movie in, the screen goes black like its gonna start, and then you wait like 15-20 seconds and it will start he lionsgate intro... i can however skip over this delay by pressing the fast forward button, strange?

Thanks for the advice ZOSO. I downloaded FIX VTS but i have a question... do i have to do it right after i rip with dvd fab HD decrypter and BEFORE i shrink with DVD shrink?
I have the files on my HD still, but they have already been shrunk and ready for burning, i will be getting 3:10 to yuma back from my friend sometime next week so i can just wait but if i can do it now i would like to so i can get the files off my hard drive

Yes. You process through FixVts before transcoding.
