I have read the full thread and have tried everything but when I try to burn BD It just does not come out right. DVD Fab rips it to hard drive but when I try to preview it the picture is with green fuzzy lines not a clear picture is this normal. Then I try to shrink it with dvd shrink and gives me an error. I try to shrink it with clond dvd and you can't even see the preview film and the same occurs what am I doing wrong?

Never mind I think I got it. I went into anydvd and erased the previous css and it seemed to make it work properly with clonedvd2 I can actually see the preview this time and clear only thing is it is going slow ripping compared to other movies.

It'll be a little slower on the rip since there is so much crap on the disc.

Hello Everyone!

Fyi- I recently tried backing bangkok dangerous on my dvdfab 5.2.2, and it would not work. I just updated to the newer version 5.2.3 and it's working just fine. Also, I've had many problems backing almost all lionsgate films.

Hi, Newbie here. If this has already been reported, my apologies.

After trouble with DVDFab, I was able to copy Bangkok Dangerous easily with DVD Shrink.

Open shrink, but do not click on Open Disc. Click on RE-author button, and wait for menu to come up. Double click on drive that has DVD loaded. "Title 1" is the movie. Double click on it, or drag into DVD Structure side of Shrink. Back it up and burn with Nero 7.

Movie burned without a hitch, and is playing on my dvd player now. Good luck.

Did you use the latest version of dvdfab which is 5230? That was the most updated version to handle the newest encryption.

As long as you keep DvdFab updated, you shouldn't have any issues.

Huh. I'll have to give this a try as i wouldn't think Shrink could handle this one by itself.

I'm with the ones that don't think Shrink can do this movie on its own.

I can confirm that DVD Shrink 3.2 will handle this. I had problems with the initial analyzing, but switched to reauthor mode (before analyzing) and chose title 1 (the main movie) and presto, BD is in the library.

Well before that used to be the way Shrink handled it - re author and just drag in the movie since the protection is usually in the rest of the junk.
May dust off Shrink and try it on one later.

I thought somewhere in this thread someone mentioned they used shrink in the re-author mode to get the movie. I may be wrong, but I thought it was mentioned.

Yes. I saw that and gave shrink a try, but got hung up on the analyzation. I tried the Re-author without going to "Open Disc" on a pure guess, and it worked.

Who knew?

Back in the 'olden' days :) when Shrink was still the main player but no longer updated this way was suggested alot.

I guess with the new big dogs, AnyDVD and DVDFab, some of us have - well me at least - have forgotten about the ole re author bit.
It still usually works.

Speaking of updates, I just visited the DVDFab home to upgrade to the newest version, 5.2.3, and its description specifically lists it as an upgrade to cover Bangkok Dangerous.

well now, dont go bashing someone mentioning another title with similar or even the same issues!!! Some users will search the forums, rather than post first, lookin for an answer. Lets just say that someone is searching "my best friends girl" on this forum... THIS thread is one of the hits, but there is NOT a "best friends girl" thread...

thanks to the user that mentioned "my best friends girl" i was able to quickly identify my solution even though i prolly would have found it eventually anyway :D

The point of a forum is to stay specific to one topic. If all of a sudden we turn one thread into a way to fix another movie as well, then when someone is searching they will not see how to do it. That is the point of starting a new thread on a different subject, matter, or movie.

High 5 anyone?

I still cant back this one up. I tried dvdfab hd 5.2.3.0 and it reads it fine with pathplayer disabled. I then tried vob blanker and vixVTS and then when i go into dvd shrink, you can see it hiccup during video preview. This usually means it probably will fail during burn. Anyone successfully back this one.

More detail how to get it work, with software versions would be appreciated.

I also tried dvdshrink 3.2 by itself as suggested and when i go to reauthor i get following error:

AppName: dvd shrink 3.2.exe AppVer: 3.2.0.15 ModName: mshtml.dll
ModVer: 8.0.6001.18241 Offset: 00122e20

I also tried reinstalling shrink with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

I just used DVD Fab Platinum 5.2.3.0
Is using vob blanker and fixVTS ever even necessary?
I've always used just DVD Fab Platinum or AnyDVD along with Shrink.

richmoral,
Why don't you read a little information about the topics that you asked the question to.

VobBlanker: http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm

FixVTS: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/FixVTS

Shrink, Fab, CloneDVD, and many other, "One Push" programs are out their to transcode your DVD. However, none of these have the option to really go deep into the file structure of the DVD. They just tend to look at the surface content. Have you ever seen menu's within a file structure that have 45MB of information, but that are blank? Have you ever seen blank files at the end of the movie that are taking up space?

That is what VobBlanker, PgcEdit, and DVDRMP do. They are programs that allow you to remove that information to make the dvd smaller in size. It allows for less pixels, and a higher quality movie.

What I use:
AnyDVD or DVDFab (Free Version) to rip
DVDRMP to edit contents and change menu's
DVD-RB to encode the movie using CCE
ImgBurn to burn the movie

This is of course only needed if burning to a DVD-5.
