I've been ripping and burning DVDs for some time now. I use DVDFab9(DVD Copy) to copy the DVDs to my computer. This creates the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders.

After that, I use DVD Shrink and Nero 7 in order to copy it back to a DVD and watch the DVD using a DVD player.

Option 1:
Most DVD movies are longer that 4.5 gb. I use DVD Shrink to split the movie in half. I have the first half of the chapters on disk 1 and the second half on disk 2. No compression. The DVDs look and play perfectly.

I notice that DVD Shrink does not work with Nero 12. I had to go back to Nero 7.

I am looking into alternatives to DVD Shrink and Nero 7 that will do exactly what I'm doing now.

Option 2:
I attempted to use DVD Shrink to create an iso file. I used ImgBurn and Nero 7 to create a playable DVD from the iso file. The DVD stalled and skipped and would not play.

Why does Option 1 work and Option 2 does not?

If DVD Shrink and Nero 7 did not exist, what could I use?

Install ImgBurn - uncheck option to install toolbar.

Run the portable 'DVD Shrink with ImgBurn' version and load project:

Edit > Preferences > File I/O, uncheck 'Enable burning with Nero'.

'Backup', select 'ISO Image File and burn with ImgBurn'.

Attar,
Thanks for DVDShrink32_w_ImgBurn.
It works great.
However, the ImgBurn settings needed to be adjusted.
I burn the movies to DVD+RW disks, so I can overwrite them later.
In ImgBurn, I had to set the Book Type for DVD+RW disks to DVD-ROM so they could play on my DVD Players. I also had to update the settings to automatically overwrite/format DVD+RW disks.

Thanks...
