First, my sound buttons and HOME button seem to be broken, but not completely. The home button never works and neither does the + button for sound, BUT if I fiddle with the buttons and try and make them work every once in awhile the - button for sound will work and gets stuck and turns the volume all the way down. Sometimes it even gets stuck when I am not even trying to make the buttons work. When they aren't even being touched.
I believe the solution for this seems to be to either send it in and have Sony fix it or rip off the warranty stickers, open the PSP up and fiddle with the keys myself to get them unjammed. Or lastly, Download and use some sort of homemade app that will allow me to adjust my volume/use my home button without actually pressing those particular buttons. I have looked around and seen things for this before. If this is an option and anyone knows a simple good one let me know =)
Second problem my PSP has involves the internet browser. When I click it, it opens the browser for a second but then automatically brings the main menu back up and has it fade to the background (It doesn't close). If I click Internet explorer again, it will come back to the front but instantly go back again.
If I remember correctly since my home button hasn't worked for ages, Pressing the home button is what causes you to go from your internet browser to the menu without actually closing the browser. Am I right? If this were the case my guess would be that my HOME button is stuck and pressed down. Or is there something else that could be causing this. Let me know =)
ALSO something that confuses me. If instead of using the Internet browser button I press RSS Channel and have it start the internet browser to check the method for adding channels (Since there are no channels) and hit "Yes" it will go to the internet browser and I can start from there and it works fine. This seems to eliminate my theory of a stuck HOME button, unless I am missing something.
I know this is a simple solution to my problem already but if there's a way to make the regular browser button work again I would like that.
Finally, My PSP seems to have decided that it doesn't like to read UMDs anymore. Some UMDs it wont read at all. Some UMDs it reads when its in the mood, and other times it refuses to and tells me there's no disk in the drive. And at best, it will read UMDs VERY VERY slowly. To the point where by the time the game has loaded I have already lost the desire to play it. Then even when the game does play, it will occasionally freeze up (Especially when I press start or access a different screen or menu) And overall it just plays very very slowly. Also, when it seems to be "Thinking" It makes this sort of clicky noise that doesn't sound normal.
My guess would be that (IF PSPs read UMDs the same way a CD player reads a CD) Then the little lens or whatever that reads the disk needs to move quickly and efficiently for smooth game play and in my case, it tries to move but cant. Or at least it cant well (Thus why it takes forever or doesn't work at all).
Again this seems like something where I either send my PSP in to be fixed or void my warranty and try myself. Unless there is like some sort of disk reading cleaner or something. That is... IF I am right. I don't know. I guess I could learn to put my UMDs on memory sticks.
Anyway. I posted this for other peoples opinions. So let me know what you think.
I believe those are the big 3 weird things to my PSP. Any advice whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. If you do try and help. Please try and include what you believe the problem to be as well as ALL of my options to solve them (Even obvious ones like sending it in to Sony to be repaired)
I thank everyone who tries to help me for their time and efforts. It is greatly appreciated. =)
Phew... Ok well the only thing I can recommend is to get it fixed by $ony then upgrade to a new Slim 2000 model, it is worth it in my opinion, but if you do decide to hack the PSP I used the Lumines Exploit way back in 3.50 so I would go with that, but from the sounds of things... I think its broken.
Another idea is to try and sell it on ebay as 'parts' or 'to be fixed' and then you should buy a PSP 2000 and use the Pandora Method to CFW it!

Actually I wouldn't go the Lumines expoit way as it is nearly impossible to get an unpatched version of Lumines these days and the expoit only works with that. Also Cola keeps repeating these questions and I have already answered most of them, but to sell the PSP as spare parts is a good suggestion, especially seeing Cola's knowledge level. If the screen is still good he might actually get a few bucks for it.
