Hey everyone, first time user of the site. I did a few searches before hand to see if my question had been answered but could not find anything. I have a PSP 2000 Slim model with CFW 3.71 M33-2 installed on it. This is my fourth one actually, the first had 3.90 M33 and the last two had 5.00 M33-6, which is the CFW I want to update this one to. I've watched a lot of tutorials on updating from 3.71 M33-2 to 5.00 M33-6 and I think I have it down. Its just something like this scares me really bad because I'm so worried I'm going to mess it up.
The instructions I've seen say to download the official 5.00 SonyFirmware and the 5.00 M33-6 update. Extract the 5.00 official firmware and change the name to 500.pbp then place in the update folder in the 5.00 M33-6 stuff. Leaving you with two files in the update folder, 500.pbp(Official Firmware) and eboot.pbp(the 5.00 M33-6 update). Then unplug from computer, make sure the battery is at least 75% charged, go to game and select 5.00 M33-6 Update Icon, then begin following the instructions prompted. Then the official update will pop up to accept which actually does the 5.00 M33-6 update.
My main question is where this is my first PSP model 2000 slim with CFW, are there certain versions of the slim 2000 model that aren't compatible with 5.00 M33-6 CFW? I figured it would be seeing as how it already has 3.71 M33-2 CFW on it but like I said, this freaks me out so much I want to be 100% sure. There are so many tutorials on updating to 5.00 M33-6 like this but I can't seem to find an answer to the question. I've heard tell of certain models have various motherboards that aren't compatible with certain CFW's.
And while I'm asking questions, so I dont flood your forum with multiple threads, is the above directions about updating from 3.71 M33-2 to 5.00 M33-6 sound about right?
I really appreciate any help I can get. I've never done much forum stuff like this. I made sure I read all the rules and did multiple search's on here before using up forum space. Sorry for making such a long post, just wanted to make sure I was thorough. Thanks again in advance for any help you guys give and thanks for allowing me to join this site. If I ever get the chance, I'll pay it forward and help someone else in need. Thanks and have a good day.
