Hello. Turned on my psp the other day and it started to act strangely. Loaded fine but everything was frozen apart from volume controls and the lock function brought up the VSH menu? This menu could not be navigated.
In recovery mode I disabled VSH and navigation in XMB started to work again. But, No games load, Emu roms can?t be selected etc and buttons and directional pad are either frozen or erratic? Navigating recovery menu is fine.

Is my PSP Bricked or semi bricked? I have a PSP1000 Phat with CFW 5.00 M33-6.
Any help or suggestions on a fix would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx
Tony

sounds like a soft brick, try reinstalling the cfw and see if that works. If not, you might need to get/create a pandora battery http://www.batteries-wiki.org/pandora-battery-wiki.html

Playstation 2-Free McBoot,HDloader 8.0c,Open PS2 Loader 0.7,80gb Maxtor HDD,SMS Media Player,PGen,SNES Station- Installed
GameCube-SDload,SD Card Adapter,BBA Adapter,2 Color Case,GnuboyGX,MPlayer- Installed

Hi Keebles. Do you have any links to tutorials and the same CFW that I use? Been years since I've dont it and i've forgotten. Plus, i don't want to go any higher than 5.00 m33-6. The last time i did I had all sorts of problems getting emulation to work (this is what I mainly use the psp for). Maybe things have changed with current CFW.

Cheers and Merry Christmas

I tried installing CFW but it says its already installed. Plus hellcat recovery dosent work (cant move cursor).
Do i have to reinstall the OFW and then the CFW?
Cheers

well there is only 2 things might work:

1) update the psp to a higher(yet hackable) ofw( then reinstall the cfw)
2) buy/create a pandora battery to format and reinstall the cfw

I my self use OFW with HBl to load emulators/apps
HBL uses exploits in the OFW and allows you to run certain apps/games with out installing a CFW. HBL works on ALL models of PSP, and ALL firmwares up to 6.60 included. This includes the PSP Go.

And you can use HBL to install a real custom firmware on any official firmware (that doesn't apply to the PSP Go, the 3000 and those crappy E1000 models).

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Can i go straight to 6.60 CFW? And can you do it from recovery menu? I imagine the HBL is additional or is it a version of 6.60 CFW? Sorry for my lack of knowledge. I've been out of the PSP hacking scene for years. Got 5.00 m33-6 and stuck with it.
Cheers
Tony
