The PSP has been dropped. The sound and buttons work (I can hear navigation click) however the screen doesn't work. The back light also doesn't come on. I have taken a look inside and couldn't find any problems, both the clasps were in the correct position. If the back light didn't work but the LCD screen did, would I still get a picture? What are the chances of both being broken?

If the backlight broke you would get picture, but it won't be visible, unless you point a flashlight at the lcd. The chances that both are broken are high. And since you checked the connections, I recommend buying a new backlight.

Thanks for the reply, I shone a torch from behind the LCD and managed to see the menu. Looks like all I need is a new backlight.

So the backlight came today. I connected it up and found that it still didn't work. I tested the voltage across the backlight fuse and the track leading to connector. The voltage across the fuse was ~3.6V and there was no reading on the track. I noticed a bit of powder next to the component above the connector which I attempted to remove with a cotton bud but there is still some stuck there. Please see this picture (not mine)

Please advise.
