Looks like you did ok to me Chris. :) NICE scan too!!! Gotta love those YUDEN T02's..... :D
If you don't want to "capture" the entire screen you can just click the "disc" looking icon near the top right of the Nero window and it will ask you where you want to save the "image". Direct it to the proper folder and remember where it is so when you upload from Photobucket you can find it. :) Under options (photobucket user page) check 640X480 for uploads with Nero scans. NOW you just have the image of the scan instead of your entire desktop. WELL that's if you want just the scan. :D

edit:
That may be the best scan I've ever seen on a BENQ drive. I've seen plenty of 99's but total PIF's of 23 is VERY impressive. NICE job buddy and you have a GOOD burner somewhere. LOL. :P

I think these turned out pretty good. I need to hook the LH-20A1S back up hobbit so we can have accurate "comparisons"...lol I'll do another burn at 12X on the LH-18A1P just for poo-poo's and ha-ha's. :D

Playr I scanned with the LH-18A1P but it was burned with the Samsung SH-S203B. For some reason the LH-18A1P sees the SH-S203B as a SH-S183B... ;)

Hey CR. No, not Sammy Sosa. Is he still playing? Sorry, don't have time for sports these days. I'm builting a super duper computer (Intel QX6850 for a friend) and deciding on burners. Saw the Sammy 203B getting good reviews. That or the Litey LH-20A1S?

Been playing with some Ritek S04 +R DLs and have had a break-through. I don't know if the break-through is due to a change in disc quality within the spindle or from cleaning the drive, though I'm leaning toward the drive cleaning(I probably should do it more often:P).
First off, heres a Verb DL burned with my Benq DW1655 for reference sake.
The first Riteks I tried wouldn't burn past the layer break, stopping with an error "unable to burn to xxxxxxx location" which was located just after the layer break. I'm suspecting the laser was unable to refocus. Here's a CD/DVD Speed create disc of the Benq with the Ritek media. After this failure, I used some canned air and ran a DVD cleaner in it but didn't expect any improvement since I had been able to burn the Verb DL. Didn't do a new burn as it was late.
Was in contact with Ritek and was going to do a RMA and they wanted some failure samples, so decided to run some non-ripped samples. Lo and behold, the darn thing went to completion. Here's the first burn, a 2.4x burn with a 4x scan on the Benq.
The 2nd burn had a finalization error, here's the 3rd burn, burned @ 6x with scan set @ 8x.
Here's #4, a 6x Burn with a 4x Scan.
The next 3 are scans of the same disc for comparison purposes, the 1st 2 scans are on the Benq, the last is scanned on my Lite-On LH-20A1H.
6x Burn, 8x Scan(Benq)
6x Burn, 4xCLV Scan (Benq)
6x Benq Burn, 4x LH-20A1H Scan.
I tried 8x scans on the Lite-on but was getting a 80-90 PIF peak at the start so dropped back to 4x.
Cross-posted here for discussion purposes.

hobbit,
those look pretty good to me. I'm impressed that the thing went thru the layer break and the quality of the scan is GREAT compared to some of the other DL discs that I've seen.

hobbit,
That's not a "bad" scan for a MCC 02RG20. The 16X version is more "difficult" to get good burns/scans on but hey how does it play? that's more important at this point. :)
You should really try that Sammy out for speed. She'll do some speedy good burns. :D

hobbit that looks familiar... RICOHJPN R03's haven't been the best media for me. They play fine but the burn/scan looks a little less than spectacular. :P I'm curious to see how they scan in a few months. I've heard pretty good things about them from respected/credible members so I'm not to worried. :)

That's a sweet one Chris! I'd put that one in your Hall of Fame for that drive!
I think on average that you will get a better burn with the TYs compared with the Verbs, at least that has been my experience.

Nice one Chris!! Agree with hobbit on the "trophy" scan. hehehe. I will say that the BENQ's prefer DVD+R media and that's what that is. DANG good DVD+R media btw. :D
Had to give the Samsung a go on some TY media, in particular YUDEN000 T02 media. :D

I've just bought my first spindle of 'Made in India' Verbatim DVD+R DL discs and I'm stunned at how bad they are. I've used the Singapore discs in the past and have had nothing but excellent burns, but those days seem to be over - my Playo discs are outperforming the Verbatim now.
My burns have been done on a BenQ DW-1640 writer; I've been burning the 2.4x discs at 8x (both Singapore and India discs). The very first disc I burned did so successfully, but Nero Disc Speed recorded a PIF failure of 1500 right at the get go! (no, that is not a typo.) I threw that one away and did another burn. Here is that scan:
http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb294...imDLIndiaCN.png
I've never had PO failures before, never mind 103 of them. I've also never had a quality score of 0; not even the Playo discs were that bad. (I did watch the DVD on my LG LDA-531 stand-alone player, and it played perfectly; I didn't even notice the layer break.) OK, so after 2 bad results (at least in terms of the scans), I burned a different file and came up with this scan:
http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb294...LIndiaTrade.png
Ouch. Not much better. The next file I attempted failed during the burn sequence at the layer break. It's not looking like a fluke at this point. For a frame of reference, here is a scan I did using the same burner for a Singapore disc:
http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb294...LSingParent.png
I've been going out of my way lately to buy Verbatim DL discs because of their reputation and my success rate with them, but now I think I'll buy the cheaper discs. Why not, if I'm getting the same results if not better with them?
I do have a question, though. I've read that PO failures (as opposed to PI) are fatal to disc playability, so why did my disc play OK?

i Doubt or hope they dont, verbatim are gonna phase out the singapore DL disc... just dont make to much since to do something like that .. they have the market all to themselves right now in the DL land.
@dutch44
as for the PIF's the more you have of them is what makes the disc hard to read and not preform in your stand alone player. haveing a few single spike isnt really gonna hurt the disc but when you get alot of them together then its a problem.
have you tried to do a scan disc test on it. this will show if it reads the disc ok. this can be done with the nero speed check.
