I have M33 on phat psp, but I just realized that it doesn't have a tv out and my mind is now set on playing psp on my tv. The internet informed me, that I would be better off buying a newer psp than hacking phat. They are faster and have better graphics and better overall as well.
I saw, however, that there are some problems with installing homebrew in newer models.
So, I want the best psp, that I can install homebrew software in, to play games I can download for free, in my hdtv. I also want the best custom firmware, for my purposes.
I, however, am a total newb and can't process all the specific information available, in order make an informed decision on this matter. My perfectionism doesn't help either...maybe u can?

hmm. PSP 2000 have tv output, better graphics, and fully hackable but be careful some 2000's are not fully hackable yet, and CFW 5.00 prometheus-3 one of the best CFW.
PS2 Slim SCPH-70012 - 8MB Sony Memory Card
PSP 2001 Silver - FW:5.50 Prome-4 - 4GB & 1GB Memory Stick
PSP 2001 Black - FW: 5.50 Prome-4 - 4GB & 16GB Memory Stick
PSP 1001 Black - FW: 5.50 Prome-3 - 4GB Memory Stick - Broken Memory Slot

Is that cfw better than M33, for my purposes and y?
A little search I did provided me with the information, that the psp's you are referring to, are the 1s with the TA088v3 motherboard. Is the psp's motherboard version on the box or sth? How can I know what slim motherboard I'm buying?
If I buy a 3000 or 2000 with TA088v3 motherboard, can I hack it and have it on standby all the time? Does this have an impact on my intents and purposes(playing free downloaded games on my tv)?
I should also mention, that I don't want to pay for anything like pandora's battery, just hack it with free staff off the net.

If you want to hack it permanently without a pandora battery you need an older PSP 2000 (pre 3rd quarter of 2008) that has only firmware 5.03 or lower installed. If you get a newer PSP 2000 or a 3000 you can only hack it temporarily and keep it on standby mode all the time, but this only works if the PSP has firmware 5.03 or lower installed. Newer PSPs with higher firmware can't be hacked at all.
You won't be able to get a fully hackable PSP 2000 new, so ebay is your best bet. There you can ask the seller what firmware is installed, or even better, buy an already hacked PSP 2000.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Will a permanent hack be released in the future?
Is it bad to keep it on standby all the time?
Is prometheus better than M33 and what about GEN, considering my intents and purposes(playing free downloaded games on my tv)?

1. Yes you can play free download games.
2. Dunno.
3. It's not bad to keep it on standby, just don't turn it off completely it will revert back to OFW (only PSP 2000 ta088v3 and 3000.)
4. Prometheus is just an upgraded version of 5.00 m33, 5.50/5.03 GEN. It's just to play 6.20+ games.

Is that comma an and? So, what ur saying is, to be absolutely up to date, I have to install prometheus, since it can play more games. Or, if I find a game I cannot play, install prometheus. Also, I see that u make no distinction over m33 and GEN, does that mean they're equally good?

About the possibility of a permanent hack for ta088v3 and 3k in the future: Very unlikely.
About the distinction over m33 or GEN: It's a total matter of taste, I personally prefer 5.50 GEN-D3, others prefer 5.00 M33-6, they say it's more stable and supports more homebrew, but so far I haven't run into any problems.

If M33 is rumoured to be more stable, then you must be using GEN, because it has extra features or sth? I guess what I'm trying to ask is, y do you personally like GEN more? Or is it just that u have installed GEN the 1st time and simply have no reason to switch to M33?
And what is the distinction between M33 and prometheus? I mean, since prometheus is an update, isn't it clearly better? Is it not clearly better and should install it, if I encounter problems with M33?

Some newer games need newer firmware, Prometheus tricks the games into thinking you got the latest firmware installed, the latest official firmware is 6.31 (or did 6.35 get released already?), the latest full custom firmware is 5.50 GEN-D3. You can also patch all games to run on 5.00 M33-6 or 5.50 GEN-D3.
I prefer 5.50 GEN-D3 because it is the latest custom firmware, I don't bother downgrading back to 5.00 M33-6.

So, if I have M33, I have nothing to lose by installing prometheus, huh?EDIT: w8 a minute, I've read somewhere that prometheus increases memory load and sth about DNAS or sth, so u shouldn't install it, unless u need it..is there a way to uninstall it?
Here's what I did: I've installed prometheus 3(my version still says 5.00 M33 6, this is right, right?). I also installed a psnlover/fucker mix I found on another forum. I have also changed my version.txt to 6.35(it's out). I still can't download anything from psn(I found that ofw is needed for that).
But I also can't play phantasy star (edit)portable 2 online! I get a 80550c14 error code and "playstation network did not respond. please wait before trying again" error message. I'm getting this, whether I use debug region I,II, or no fake region at all. I'm not sure I'm using the eur iso(torrent doesn't say somewhere what region it is). Also, only universe 1 server appears. Any thoughts on this, any1?
I read on some forum, that GEN doesn't have these problems, so I think I'll be trying out for my self as well.

Phantasy star portable won't work because you are not able to go online atm. I don't know if PSNLover still works (PSNFucker was an earlier version of the same program) as I don't use it. To go online you need to have the lates firmware available, PSNLover fakes that. Also PSP games are regionfree (I use some US versions myself, because they are earlier, or the only version I can get or uncut), the fake region is only for UMD-movies.
Also you need to activate prometheus 3 in the plugin menue (press Select button while in XMB). It won't change your firmware version, because it is only a plugin, no real newer firmware version.

What does atm mean? At this moment or sth?
Won't the online features be compromised, if I use the US version of a game and I'm in europe? Will I be able to find servers and players?
Is what I mention in my previous post, about prometheus increasing memory load etc, true(post was edited, maybe after u read it)? Should I enable it only when needed?
Sth must have gone wrong, because no prometheus plugin shows up. I just downloaded and run the install from the psp/game directory. I didn't install it in seplugins, like any other plugin. I reinstalled it several times to be sure, but to no avail. Is it possible that it's not being installed properly for some reason? The install said it finished successfully every time.

The site I downloaded it from had some comments, about 1 thing they h8ed about prometheus, was how it said prom-3 and not m33 anymore on system settings.

Also, I forgot to mention some strange stuff that are hapenning.
After I tried to install prometheus, my psp froze when I opened it from standby mode and shutdown. Now this doesn't seem to happen anymore.
When I press the sound button, that's supposed to change the sound mode(pop, rock, etc),sth weird happens. It freezes and then the screen is filled with it's negative(If it's black, then white for example) slowly from bottom to top. Then it unfreezes.
EDIT: The sound button thing doesn't happen now, prolly because I I enabled all plugins, except pslover. A plugin must have been causing it. Maybe same applies for the standby issue.EDIT:Which has also stoped.
