I have a psp 3001, with the latest OFW. It will not power on at all, with just ac power...just the battery, with and without the memory stick. I've tried all combinations. I've already opened it up and replaced the power switch, as the liquid damage indicator was spotted and I noticed a little corrosion on the switch. It was bought refurbished from gamestop as a present for my little cousin, long story short...it was thrown against a wall and they couldn't get it to turn back on. It was given back to me and all I did was plug it in and try it, it came on! After about a week or so, I had upgraded it and was downloading a PS1 classic onto it from the PSN. Midway through this, I noticed that the light was flashing to let me know the battery was dying. The a/c charger was plugged in during this. I noticed if I moved it a certain way and left it, it would charge. This stopped working almost as soon as it started to. The psp powered off during the download and has been a paper weight since. Anyone ever heard of something similar or might know what I did?
