thanks capncrash, it is a bless im very happy.

well kalunyoku 3.0 ive never seen anybody doing that and specially air cooling!!.

but who knows?!!
can be done if your mobo or cpu can take 240 fsb and maybe vcore of 1.8 or 1.9volts who knows?? and will it be stable that another story jejejeje

I dunno, I think i want to be the first person to OC a 2800 to 3 just on air cooling. if it gets too hot, my computer will shut off or lock up...if i even make it past booting up. I figured if i set my FSB to 200 and my multiplier to 15 i may be able to do it, and a vcore of 1.8. I know 5 fans probably won't be enough, but maybe if i opened a window and a door and let a breeze come in, with my case open.(it is december you know) and I may be able to do it for a short while. It's worth a try though. Then again, a 2800 at 2.4 like mine is fast enough for me.

kalu go for it!!! remember that good mem like ddr 400 will help on stability or ddr 550 like mine because of the cpu/ram ratio 1:1.

let us know!!

Oi lads, plz, If you are going to talk off topic, about water cooling, then yes I for one would like some experience. I got my hands on a black ice pro II dual with this n that for a good price, do you go for a pump with high volume flow or a slower steadier flow?

kalunjoku, I think you are a bit optimistic dude, blo0dy 'ell nipper 3.0Ghz on air could be done if you are an eskimo, or perhaps in the vacuum of space with a big can of pressurised air jetting onto it! (where on earth are you?)

Hey kalujoku Im not trying to discourage you but with that kind of overclock you will have to dissipate about 137 Watts of power with a Vcore of 1.9 at 15 x 200 Mhz FSB !) But hey keep up the good work and let us know how you get on.

Im in Kentucky and it's around 30 degrees right now. Its starting to snow and the wind is blowing at a good speed. This seems like perfect time to do it. Wish me luck! I'll tell you all how it goes.

First of all, Merry Christmas everyone!
Here are my specs:
Athlon barton 2800+, Kingston ddr400 512mb + kingston ddr400 256mb, Asus A7n8x-E, geforce 5900fx, Seagate 80gb SATA,PSU Enermax 450w.

I just got my CPU oced to 2375mhz, FSB 190 and vcore 1.850volts. Is this optimal? I cant go further, but i still have 191~194 to try. Do u think i should keep it like this or push it to it's limits??? I also tested it out w/ Prime95 for 9 hours and there are no errors now.
I managed to get idle temp at 52c and loads temps oafter 9hrs @ 57c.
Thanks,
Michael

mickle, you probably should lower the vore settings to 1.7. 1.8 isnt very safe for the processor. My 2800 XP is up to 2.41 and my vcore is at 1.7. I just increased my fsb to 200 and my multiplier to 12. Its fast too. Make sure you have proper cooling when overclocking your processor too.

Oh yeah, when i said i'd get my 2800 to 3.0, i got it to 3 and it got into windows and then locked up after 10 minutes. I had the windows open and my door cracked and it was during an ice storm! It was 7 degrees outside!!! Someday, hopefully, i can hold it at that temp without liquid. I'll keep tryin though.

isnt 200mhz FSB unstable? i tried it w/ 1.850v and i often get bluescreens. My cooling is a water kit, just got it :D

200 is just fine for mine. 1.85 Volts is not safe. You can screw up your processor. I dont understand why you're worried about your temp if your fsb would be at 200 and you are watercooling your processor. The only thing I'm worried about for you is your voltage.

with 200mhz, i get an error in prime95 and that also goes for 191+.
i think 1.850 is pretty good!

Hi there...new to the forum. Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in. Have a Barton 2800, and my temperature without overclocking runs between 31 and 32 degrees celcius. For some reason the case I purchased had the rear fan turned backwards, before I switched it around the temps were between 40 and 41 celcius. Ten degree improvement with just one fan. Now I think I'll venture into overclocking this bad baby.

hi slimnuts welcome to the forums!!!
wow 10 degrees with a single fan we all know that a big case helps but 3-5 maybe 7 degrees 10 that nice lucky you. i have 12 case fans im a fan lover..

but anyway you got a good mobo via chipset like kt266 or kt600 are not very overclocking freindly nforce 2 is the best in that matter. newer vias like kt-600, kt800 and msi mobos with the corcell chip that has a lots of ovc settings that something else...

but go ahead build your own xperience like all of us read and ask a lot in this forums when i first came to this forum i didnt know anything about ovc and know im helping others!!!.
something else your cpu cooler let see how it handle the extra heat your cpu gonna throw.

remember:
1-bartons are lock (vant change mult. 12.5 ofcourse your mobo wont let you).
2-change fsb in small amount
3-higher fsb higher vcore (remember not to pass 1.8volt)
4-extra cooling fans for your case intakes and exhaust.

let us know:
^^overclocking is not about the numbers^^
