I think of having found the solution. Since I deactived the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service , I did not have any more the message "command scsi aborted". And especially I did not miss any burning any more.

Here is what worked for me. I was receiving the "SCSI command aborted" message everytime I tried to burn a DVD-R with Nero, but had no problem with CDs. I was able to set it to simulate mode so that I would stop wasting DVDs while I tried some things out. What ended up working was on the Final Burn Settings page, I clicked on Options by the Current Recorder and unchecked the DVD high compatibility mode. I am not exactly sure what this has to do with the problem, but unchecked the DVD-R burned, while checked it didn't. It did not play on my older model DVD player, but my newer one had no problems with it. I hope this info helps someone else out.

Dont Know if this will help anyone but I had these burning probs with my laptop and enternal usb case with pioneer 105 fitted. I coulnt seem to get anything to burn using Nero, Recordnow max, Clone dvd etc. So i thought i would try Easy dvd creator 6 Basic which came free with my laptop, guess what? it hasnt failed once yet. Dont Know why!

I have posted this in another thread, but no replies there. So, I decided to copy it here.

I have the same problem with IOMagic USB2 enclosure and NEC ND-2500

I was using this burner almost every day for a few month, but only yestarday started having this problem. Yestarday was the first time I burned +R dvds after which I started having problems with -R (about 50-75% of the time). I tried a new drive (same brand) in the same enclosure and got the same problem. Both drives started making clicking noise on -Rs, which I haven't heard before (although some people have reported this noise). I tried this burner as internal and it works just fine. Nothing on my system has changed in the past 3 month, except I added a new Minolta 1350W printer connected to USB and a FireWire card with external HD. However this setup was working for a couple of weeks justfine. Problems started occuring only after the very first +R was burned. After that the same -Rs (from the same pack) started giving me problems. Same Nero software 6.3.1.20 (or 8.3.1.20 - can't tell for sure).
I also tried burning on Win03 (another partition on the same PC) and have the same problem (Win03 doesn't have this new printer installed). The only common software installed on both OSs is 321 studios and Nero (same version). No dvdshrink or any other burning software.

I'm not a hardware expert like most of guys here, but can someone explain why +Rs are working fine while -Rs are working 50% of the time (or less). Sometimes this thing can't even read -R dvd just burned, but later can.

I also tried upgrading my dvdrw with latest drivers from NEC - 1.07.
-Rs I used are Khypermedia and Verbatim DigialMovie (rated as ones of the very best, alhtough I've never had any problems with any brands)

To summarize this problem on my pc..:
1. Not related to RealNetworks or any other 3rd party software, since my win03 is clean. It has nothing but 321 studio and Nero.
2. Not cheap media issue. Verbatim DigitalMovie is one of the best and I've never had any problems burning it before (as well as khypermedia and a couple more -R no name brands)
3. Not sp1 or sp2 issue, since doens't work on win03.
4. I only had nero63120.exe installed on Win03, so not a plug-in issue, unless some plug-ins come with it.
5. Not the drive itself, since I tried a brand new drive in my usb enclosure and had the same problem. Also, works just fine when used as internal.
6. IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service is not running on my xp.
7. This setup was working just fine (with printer connected AND FireWire with exsternal HD). I burned about 10 -Rs and decided to give +R a try. Right after that MOST (but not all)remaing -Rs started giving me problems.

The weired part:
1. -R works about 30% of the time
2. +R works just fine.
3. -R stopped working after first +Rs were burned - (fujifilm (maid in japan)first few +Rs had some tipping near the outer edge).
Not a single coaster until first +R was used.

thanks to Giac0 & Drewiii, your solutions helped me at last. I did really waste lot of time and effort trying to fix this problem. finally, today i was able to write few DVD-Rs without problems.

Nero better check out these solutions.

thanks again.

hello all..

i too have been getting these dreaded "scsi aborted" errors.

i have tried everything i can think of and all possible sollutions given in this thread and elsewhere on the net.

i am using a pioneer 108, in a zynet cd-r3 usb 2.0 enclosure. this is all connected to my presario laptop.

i have updated my laptop bios. i have updated the pioneer bios. i have what i beleive is the latest usb controllers from VIA. ive tried installing a hotfix from microsoft (usb related) i have the latest version of Nero.25, i have tried to find any driver updates for the ide / usb controller for the enclosure but seems as though there is none. i have also tried using differant usb cables to try and rule that out.

i have used the clean tool from ahead, and done a fresh install, i have also tried using the forceapsi tool to try see if this fixes it.

i have had 1 or 2 successful burns, then it will die. then i try and fix the problem and get nowhere. i thought that there may be some issue with my internal dvd rom drive so i diabled it (now it wont enable ..lol)

anyway, i hope i have provided enough information. ill post my log, and hope somebody may be able to shed some light on this annoying fault.

with same CD-RW, Benq(ATAPI CD-R/RW 24X10 )

I wish this might some help.
CS8813 will made a SCSI COMMAND error, and GL811USB not. with same CD recorder and same CD-RW.

Yeah well I got sick and tired of maybe 1 out of 5 burns working because this stupid azz SCSI Abort error...

I took the advice I saw on this thread and this morning I ripped my Pioneer 108 out of that little stupid external box I bought it in... slapped it in as a replacement to my CD-Rom I had in my computer and PRESTO..

No more SCSI errors.... 4 successful burns in a row so far with no stupid azz error...

I literally wasted 24 DVD-R's over the last 3 days because of this stupid azz russian roulette error garbage.

So now I have an internal DVD +-R/RW... That's apparently how you fix it.

Nero seems to hate the USB.

Can someone tell me if to deactive the service IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service the burning works well.
I have no problem since I have deactived this service with Nero, DVD Shrink, Clone DVD and DVD Decrypter with dvd-r and dvd+r. No more message SCSI command aborted !
It is a conflit with the ROXIO tool buid in with Windows XP. With windows XP you can burn without additional burning tool. You can do a "drag and drop" with windows explorer to the dvd writer.

your opinion interests me.
thanks

Yep, IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service is a useless little app that causes more problems that it's worth. Anyone that has real burning software would be doing themselves a favor by disabling it.

Here's the solution gents

Had the very same problem with my Pioneer DVD-108, which I also bought as a caddied EXTERNAL drive. Pioneer said the drive was never intended to be an external drive and wouldn't help so I tried various bits of software before finding a fantastic one which is both mega easy to use and extremely stable.

Visit www.ntius.com and get CD and DVD Maker and all your ills will disappear

Good luck

I'll try to make this as short as possible since everybody is having a similar experiance...

I have a Lite-on SOHW-812s on a external usb2 hooked up to my laptop.

-Used to use Nero 5 tried latest Nero demo.
-upgraded dvd drive to the latest firmware
-Turned off power save on the usb port
-checked all the drivers
-tried changing that reg key (I forgot what it was. I think it was cdrom share 1 or something)
-Disabled the IMAPI CD Burning service.
-Noticed I have a better chance of burning the disc if I make a iso image first then burn to disc at the lowest speed(still failed a couple of times, but a pain in the ass)...
-Going to try CD and DVD Maker (can't try roxio. Those dumb bastards don't have a demo)

Will this mystery ever be solved? ^^a

Question for everybody:
- Do you have a USB hub connected to your system? Even if your drive is not connected via this hub, each port on your hub might count as a device (maybe even if you don't have anything connected to it).

I'll disconnect all usb devices, except for this dvdrw and try it and post the resaults here. This is really wiered problem, particulary in my case where everything worked just fine until I burned my very first +R.

Hello Everyone,

This is a real mystery, as many users with the same model recorders are reporting no problems, and our testing in Lab shows all is working as it should.

There must be some common denomintor that causes our software to have problems with these USB Recorders.

It would be a very big help if those who are running into this error, and have a USB External Recorder, to please send me an Email at Techsupport4@nero.com and attach a log file from the failed write attempt, as well as the file created by Nero InfoTool so that I can generate a Bug Report and attach this information to the report. This will help our Engineers greatly in debugging the issue and hopefully speed up the resolution process.

Regards,

Craig

Try installing the ASPI drivers from adaptec, cured the problem for me using a belkin usb external drive enclosure with pioneer 106 installed, and a LG internal dvd burner.

i just bought a Pioneer DVR-A08XLA writer (internal) using Vipower USB 2.0 External Closure and nero doesnt work..just freezes..

i have tried burn4free cd and dvd software ..it works but is very slow..takes ages..i have been reading all the posts made here and it gives me a headache..

has anyone found a solution to this ..or know of any software which works well.. plizz advice.. i am desperate..

would really appreciate the help..

thx

note:
1) I am using a USB 2 Port. I am 101% sure
2) IMAP Service not running
3) cant find those processes regarding nero running in the background.so i guess they are not running.

using nero 6.3.1.18 i guess that doesnt matter becoz people with updated verions have the same problem.

I downloaded and tried nti cd and dvd maker and I had no problems burning 4 dvds so far at 8x.

I'm also using a belkin 4 port usb2 hub. I don't think it would affect anything though. If you look in the usb port properties in device manager you'll see that the hub is not taking any power.

Can a few of you test to see if this issue is resolved for you if you Launch Nero Burning ROM and go to Recorder->Choose Recorder and click on the OPTIONS button in the bottom left of the window and then uncheck the option for 'DVD High Compatibility Mode' and see if this now resolves your issue.

I've had 3 out of 7 users try this with success.

Craig

I have had a similar problem, but can now burn DVD-R's if I uncheck the "DVD High compatibility Mode".

Unfortunatly the movies that I burn to disc do not play on my stand alone DVD player, but will play on my computer. Other discs that I have produced with both Nero, (on my Dads computer), and Roxios product, play on my player.

Do your engineers understand the cause of the problem yet and do you think they may be able to produce a fix/update that will still allow us to produce DVD's that will play on stand alone players?

Hi Alex,

I'm still at the stage of isolating the issue. First we need to confirm the symptom, and the work around, and then I can report this to our Engineers and have them try and find a clean solution.

I need to see if this work around is working for %80 to %90 percent of the users encountering this issue, or if it's just a few that it resolves the issue for.

Craig

I have the exact same nightmare with my A07XL burner(toaster?) enclosed in a LoadStar external enclosure.
And today I finally FIX IT.
I changed my external enclosure 3 times.
My desktop is based on ASUS P4PE-X/TE and Celeron D 325. USB Hub is Intel ICH4. Burner software is nero 6.3.
First: LoadStar or YDStar: Ali 5631 chip in enclosure, failed with SCSI Command Abort.
Second: DataStorage K5: Myson 8818 chip in enclosure,
fialed with communication error.
Third(Some friend recommend): BlueAngel: Cypress CY7C68300 AT2. Success.
Plus, I also heard of that insystem 300A1 might also work, however, I am too busy these days to give it a try.Maybe I can return to this problem and give a more comprehensive test after these busy days.

That's all. I hope this helps and really appreciate all friends who posted advices here. Especially the kind person, ccampbell, from Ahead Nero.

Dear friends,it seems nero works fine with my Pioneer DVR-107D installed in an external enclosure with the chip Cypress 68300 (AT2) now.(You can find more info on my external enclosure here: http://www.blueangel.net.cn/en/productsX/index2.asp?lei=14&ming=24).
My nightmare ends this noon, and I hope yours disappear soon.I learned much from you all and I hope my experience helps.

Best Regards.

To summarize my experience:

*:When use external enclosure with Ali 5631 or cs8818G and Intel ICH4 usb hub (intergrated in 845PE etc), most DVD record softeare fail at either beginning or ending ar some pioneer or benq or sony DVD writers, including Nero,Roxio, also NTi.
*:The trouble maker seems to be the uncompatable configuration,Ali 5631 or cs8818G/Intel ICH4/Pioneer, since I use Ali 5631 case on Via KT600 mainboard or nForce 2 chipsets mainboard. It works perfectly. This might be solved via update of your USB2 drivers ONLY IF Microsoft or Intel release them. However, it seems the both giants have NOT such motivation to do so.
*:As the leading burning software, Ahead Nero is undoubtedly the very one who is eligible to fix this problem via software ways. Is that possible to communicat with the external DVD burner bypassing the MS USB2.0 drivers?
*Till now, I get one and only one enclosure that equipped with cypress AT2 68300 chip works fine. If possible, try it.

Best Regards.

Through my search via google,it's said the cypress 68300 AT2 is likely developed basing on Insystem ISD 300A. So, the cypress AT2 series 68300/68300A and ISD 300A may both work fine.
Plus, with Nero info tools,I can see now my external Pioneer DVD burner have a scsi ID now as it is installed internally. This ID could not be detected in the former enclosure with non-68000 chips.Maybe the Intel ICH4 hub is not friendly to non-yankee chips.:)

Best Regards.
