I cant really make a recommendation but if you are only running emule and dont surf the net much feel free to make it nice and high!! it could kill your connection if you use other things too like kazaa for instance!

I am a recent emule convert. When I first got emule i had low id problems then fixed up my router to play nice and all was well.
But when i updated to .28b i only get low-id's again. i updated by replacing the .exe file in the emule directory (the suggested way). i checked all my router settings and all is fine on that end. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Hi Dela,
I've just upgraded my version of eMule and I was wondering if your meant to share or place a tick in the Temp folder of eMule. I know the Incoming folder has a tick in the box. The reason I ask is that I'm seeing .part, .met, .bak files in the shared files list, which was not the case in the older versions of eMule. When I upgraded I had some files which were left in a partially downloaded state. I just copied these files into the new Emule Temp folder, shut down eMule and opened it up again and saw them continue to download from where they had left from the previous version. The annoying thing is that the files that I'm currently downloading are always re-hashing if I press the Reload button, however once the files have finished downloading and I then press the Reload button, the part, etc files are no longer there.

hmmm sounds like a bug in the new version!
Do you have the temp folder specified as the temp folder in the preferences??

I've managed to sort the problem.
Basically you have to untick the Temp folder in the Preferences-Directories, and the .part etc. files just disappear from the Shared files once you hit the Reload button. I think that this was my mistake initially when I installed this new version and assumed that a tick had to placed in the Temp box, so that it could resume from downloads from the previous version. What I should have done was to close and re-open eMule and it should have recognised the existing downloads without having to place a tick in the Temp box, which is left unticked by default. But I'm kind of sure that this didn't work when I first tried it, so it may be that you only place this tick in the Temp folder if your resuming downloads from a previous version of eMule,(and you only do this once for the first time) you then close down eMule, open it, once you can see that your existing files are being downloaded, you can then untick the Temp folder box.

I can't get this Low id fixed. I have a microsoft (router) that I configure for application port forwarding for 4662-4711 tcp
4672 udp. I have dhcp on with proper ip. I'm really needing that low id tutorial right about now. If i stay with this low id how much worse am i getting it(how much better is high id compared to low id) because im dl just fine with my adsl(5up 20down any more and i cant surf smoothly) Thanks, Json

Thanks Dela for a great tutorial.First read it bout 2 weeks back and prised myself away from k-lite(wasn't easy..lol).
Just thought i'd add a few things for other newbies.Be Patient with emule.Patience is a ..blah blah!Been running the mule 24/7 with poor results until recently and i'm finally being rewarded with 50-60k d/l's.
My connection is 600/128.uploads set at 80% (which i feel is very important, not to exceed this as d/l's need a certain amount of bandwidth to search for new connections)
downloads set to unlimited.Hard limit set to 600 and Max connections set to 1000 (which i reduce to 300 once the d/l's get going)
Everything else is as standard.

Usually, when you have a lowid you wouldn't even get 5kb/s lol!!
Do u run a firewall or do you connect through a router?? have you tried to change your client port and see if it has any effect??

eMule and Zonealarm dont go well together sometimes!! I have zonealarm pro and for a while it was giving me lowid's and a lot of problems but for some strange reason, one day it just stopped giving me a low id! I think the trick it to have eMule on when you install zonealarm or something like that!

Hi this is my first post on here and I hope it helps a few people Have been using emule v29 for about 2 weeks now, on ntl 600k BB via ethernet card and I'm also running ZA Pro v4.0
PC as folows
ABIT KX7-333 mobo
Athlon XP2100
256 Mb PC2100 Samsung DDR
GeForce3 200Ti (with latest nvidia drivers)
Soundblaster Live 5.1
IBM 45 GB HDD
Speeds seem to vary quite a bit have reinstalled emule which seemed to help and used the DSL setting in the Connections section
After trying various settings in the Preferences it seems the most important setting is Patience. As has been stated on here before the more you share the more you can download at a faster rate. If anyone has settings for a similar setup to mine in the UK please let me know. Sorry abut the length of the post

Hi Dela
I've been going through your posts and i seem to have a situation that is similar to the people with connectivity issues.
I have a Cable connection (64kbps) and i have been using eMule for the past three months (starting for 0.26b). Of late i've had a lot of trouble getting downloads. Initially i had execellent download speeds (when my isp had not installed the 8KB/s cap). Ever since the cap my downloads have been barely moving while my uploads have been speeding along just fine.
My problem is that if i had a connectivity issue then my uploads too would be sluggish, but they r far from it, while my downloads peak at about 0.1 KB/s.
Plz advise
also i'd like to know more about client ports and how to find out if any are blocked

I reckon that when they capped it, they must have made a cap for overall bandwidth, for example, 20kb's completely and the uploading leaves little for download
my advice, limit uploading to 3kb/s, no point having it higher if your downloads are capped to 8kb/s

I checked with my isp.
the cap is only on my download bandwidth
and not shared with my upload bandwidth
(don't ask me why)
my problem is in the fact tat my cue does not seem to progress beyond QR 2
the sources just dematereialise after that limit
can you advise on this issue
Thanks in Advance
