Try closing all those things as encoders do need a lot of resources!

I have no firewalls, routers, hubs nor any other software that may be blcking transmissions. What is going on with these servers? I have been using eMule for a LONG time now and this is something happening recently... i don't think it's the clients unless it's the latest eMule 29c which i upgraded to.

Hi, I am using Rogers and they are not blocking any ports. Please, if you do not know a solution to this problem, don't use an ISP as a copout. I am able to connect to SOME servers using the same port(sorry to burst your 'ISP is the problem' bubble)This seems to be a new problem that has arisen with eMule on some of the larger servers only. Smaller servers do not have this problem. If I had to guess,I would say this is a server config problem and is very annoying. If there is another synopsis from the audience, please feel free to post it so we may all conquer this problem together. Also if there are any server admins that can contribute to this thread, please do so.

Sorry to burst YOUR bubble but your ISP IS the problem. Rogers have been listed on the IPFILTER.DAT file that the big servers use therefore they refuse connection to it! The reason it is there is that rogers most likely has ties with big organisations i wont mention!

I have done all your settings and I still get no decent download. When I put both to 0KB/s limit, my upload goes up to 15Kbs but my download remains 0.1-0.5........ What am I doing wrong? I connected to the server that has most users, and released my only big file.......and I still don't get enough. I cannot put my upload for 15KB/s when I'm not recieving anything. My ISP has a limit to the download.

Please help me.

Just a hi! and a thx to Dela for all the tips.

Also wanted to say I've just moved from eDonkey to eMule and have d/l'd many films within a few days, whereas the donkey would take weeks.

I've just spent an hour reading through this post :P

The only 'prob' I didn't see answered was Jordanc's one about auto updating the server.met file. That was way back in March...and has probably already been figured out ;-) but in case anyone else needs to know...
In Prefs/server (V0.29c) tick the 'auto-update serverlist at startup' option.
Select the list button (to edit the addresses.dat file) and type in your serverlist url.
I currently use :- http://ocbmaurice.dyns.net/pl/slist.pl?download/server-good.met

Thank you for confirming my thought that the server admins are the problem. My ISP doesn't edit IPFILTER.DAT files on the servers, but the admins do. So, in fact, the problem is with the server's configuration settings. May I ask how you know the filter settings and which ip blocks are on there? Either answer will suit me fine. The reason I ask is because, my ip has changed from a 69.*.*.* block to a 24.*.*.* block and seems to be the same time frame that my connection problems occured. Again, thank you for solving this problem for me. ;)

It's the ipfilter.dat on silent bob and probenprinz etc etc not on your own isp,

check it out for yourself - http://www.atheistdictionary.com/ipfilter/IPfilter.dat

also servers may have a more up to date ipfilter.dat, the one i just showed you is in fact for individual users to setup themselves!

Ooma: Nah i think you misread man, lol, im glad you gavce the answer cause i know i missed it :-)

Dela,
I understand completely, I've been running p2p servers for 3+years now... I'm asking how you know Rogers IP block is in there and if their 69.*.*.* blocks are. Thanks again.

Well if they are actually forcefully closing your connection that is proof enough really. I dunno why rogers was added, it must suck having an isp who has been shit listed! There is nothing you can really do to get past it either, except maybe a socks5 proxy which im usre u know are hard to find free!

Dela,
Strangest thing... as of today i'm able to connect to both porbenprinz and silent-bob. =O
can't say i'm impressed with the stability of the connection(10-30 minutes until i lose connection), but hey, it works! ;)
Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. I'm sure it must take a major toll on the servers blocking a nationwide ISP which has the fastest growing internet population per capita in the world. Either, it's that... or *shrug* who knows. It works for now and i'm like a boy in a candy shop atm. *puts on leech suit and dives in*

Dela: You've said, that setting all of the currently downloading files to release is not recommended. Why exactly?

I always set ALL of my files to release priority and the speeds are just great.

because then it would be the same as if they were all at normal! at release, it shares more and u get more because of your generosity

Yes, but as I understand the credit system, the multiplier is higher when the priority is set to release. And therefore you move quicker up the queue. That goes for all the files you "release".

File priority for shared files.
Modifier: x1.8 - x0.2
Users requesting a file for download will receive a modifier according to the chosen share priority of the file. Versions prior v.27a use the values in [ ].
Release: x1.8 [x5]
High: x0.9 [x2]
Normal: x0.7 [x1]
Low: x0.6 [x0.5]
Very Low: x0.2 [x0.2]

Clients with high scores and *** after the value are next to receive an upload slot.

whenh u upload to somebody, then u get a better queue position on their queue! so your downloads will be faster on a file that u are constantly uploading, but if all of them are at release then its sending loads of files at once! so it will ogverall make no difference to any of them!

But it makes a difference to all of the files you upload, because the multiplier is higher and therefore the overall score is higher. And you can't and never do upload all of the files at the same time (only when you download/share a small amount of files or you max upload bandwidth permits it) although you have release priority set on all of them. It's a matter of request. The difference being, when normal priority is set, the multiplier is x0.7, with release priority the multiplier is x1.8, which makes a difference in the long term.

My total download speeds usually cycle around 80-150 kb/sec (2mbit ADSL) so I must be doing something right.

dude its the ppl you transfer to that gives you the priority so setting one file to release uploads it more than any other file giving you higher priority, if you do it on all files, then they will upload the samke as before! the priorities will be the same!

Heh, and I'm trying to tell you, that it's not the same, when all files are normal priority or release priority, because of the multiplier. Check the eMule help/documentation for further information.

Setting one or two files to release and leaving others to normal/auto will only help you get the selected release files faster, although this also depends on other things like the number of sources etc... You can just as good use auto priority, which would set the files with fewer souces to high and the ones with a large number of sources to low.

Hey i know exactly what you are saying man, its just that in the last year or whatever ive been messing with the priority and the only way i could make anything was 1 or 2 files by setitng them to release, changing them all to release made no difference!
