Update for my experiences on Star Wars Battlefront 2:

Direct copy with DVD Decrypter, boot with Swap Magic 2.0 on my V7 PS2 gets red screen (no load). Tried same disk with DVD Loader v7 and game never loads.

Same ISO made by DVD Decrypter was burned at 4x by DVD Decrypter and given to a friend who has Swap Magic 3.6 and he recieved the "Insert valid PS2 disk" screen.

Rebuilt the ISO using ISObuster to extract, apache2 to rebuild and DVD Decrypter to burn, 2 copies, one at 1X speed and another at 4X speed. Using just the Swap Magic 2.0, I get the "Insert valid PS2 disk" screen. Trying with DVDLoader v7, I just get a blank screen, nothing ever loads.

One thing I did notice is that I have the PAL version of the game since one of my files is SLES and not SLUS.

Sniper, do you have the US or the European version? I'm willing to get the US version and try again if you've had positive results.

Seba... truthfully, I dont even really want the game that badly. I was just trying to get it to work since it was one of those "well, its here, might as well download" type of deals for me. I never really even wanted this game. All the rest of my backups work beautifully with my SM 2.0 so until this becomes more of a problem, I'm sticking with what I have. I still have Shadow of the Colossus, Resident Evil 4, Ratchet Deadlocked, Prince of Persia and Xmen Legends II all lined up to beat (all my most recent "acquisitions"). I got a lot of game playing ahead of me, SWBF2 is the least of my worries =). Not to mention the 50+ other games I have in my collection that I can always go back to.

(sidenote, 2 more Colossi to kill and I can move onto the next game for beating)

I was surprised to see it go to 2.39 gigs as well. I would have thought something went wrong but it works on my ps2. what have other people rebuilt the size down to? Don't forget, mine is the NTSC version (USA)

Sounds like to me that most of the problems exist with the PAL version of the game. I'm currently downloading the NTSC version and will see what happens with that.

Swap Magic 3.6 users Star Wars Battlefront 2 works perfect with a straight copy. Dvd decrpyter read. Then patch the dna$ using Windip1.7. Then burn at 4x with dvd decrypter and you are set. Also i use dvd+r's.

For every person that says it doesn't work, there's one who says it does. Remember if you have a v.1-4 PS2, they don't read DVD+R's well at all. If you have a v.5-8 it's 50/50, though I'd still go with DVD-R's, v.9 and later tend to work fine with DVD+R's. Use good Media. Try Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, Phillips, TDK, or Maxell DVD-R's. Burn with Decrypter at 4x on an 8x DVD-R. No matter how many times I repeat this, people use crappy media. DON'T use Imitation, Memorex, MMORE, Dynex, Staples, Duraband, or any other God awful Wal-Mart knock off.

Thanks.

Just another quick query:

When you're using a modchip is it ever necessary to rebuild the iso for single layer games? (Is that just for swapdisc etc.?) Or can i just do an iso read and iso write with DVD Decrypter?
I'm currently using a direct boot mod-chip in my PS2 right now. The method I used was just the basic DVD Decrypter one.

- ISO READ to create image
- Patched DNAS files using Image Patcher for online play
- ISO WRITE to burn image @ 2x speec on Ritek DVD-R G05

Did not need to rebuild the image or anything and my copy works perfect. No problems what so ever and connects online everytime.

Agrees with Wong Fu. If you have a direct boot modchip like a Matrix Infinty or DMS 4, rebuilding will NEVER be necessary. Those chips support DVD-9 games and everything else. Can't wait til my v.5 PS2 modded with a DMS 4 Pro get's back to me in a couple days, it's like Christmas in November.

Hey boobooman, I've never heard of systems "not able to be chipped". I always thought that any versions of PS2's can chipped, you just have to find the right chip that corresponds to your system. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, don't take my word for it. I'm not an expert at this stuff.

All I know is that I've had my chip in my ps2 for the longest time. You're talking years. I think I have a Magic3 chip in my V5 ps2 as far as I know, and never had a problem booting anything.
