OK...
I grabbed the US NTSC release by Start2 and did the following...
- Used DVDDecrypter and made a new ISO
- Opened it in ISObuster and extracted the files
- Opened Nero and made a new DVD from the files (placed in eact order)
- Burned onto a Verbatim DVD-R at 4x
- Used Swap Magic 3.6
Works perfectly :)
Thanks to everyone here for helping! :)

Ok, I know this topic has been beaten into the ground, but my results as of last night are not favorable.
I'm a SM 2.0 owner, and it appears that people like myself who haven't upgraded yet are gonna be without Battlefront.
Direct burn, no go.
Rebuilt using Isobuster and Nero and got the image of the US version of the game down to the 2.38Gb like everyone else, when I loaded it up, I get the "Please insert valid PS2 disk" screen. DVDLoader just goes to a black screen.
I give up. This is the first game that has stumped me and I didn't even really want it that bad... I just wanted to rise above the challenge. Looks like I've been beaten due to an inferior version of Swap Magic.
Oh well, onto either Battlefield 2, Ratchet:Deadlock, Resident Evil 4 or one of the many others I have waiting. =) It's good to be a gamer.

So, Did I read this right. I can use DVD Decrypter and then I have Swap Magic 3.3. Will this work? Just don't want to back it up and end up with a coaster.

Swap Magic 3.3 is nearly identical to Swap Magic 3.6. The only difference is SM 3.6 has USB support. If it loads with SM 3.6, there's no reason it shouldn't work with SM 3.3.

I have sm 3.6 and this doens't work either, it freezes after the training loading screen, I haven't tried rebuilding yet, and has anyone found a ppf patch out there in cyber-world.

I have now tried burning the PAL version at 1x 2x & 4x. Three coasters in all. Looks like anyone who bought the PAL version (like me) will be unable to make a back up. Can someone let me know where this Start2 version came from, its looks like i will have to resort to getting that one.

I would like to share my backup experiences with Battlefront 2. I have the NTSC version of the game and rebuilt the ISO file with IsoBuster and CD DVD Rom Generator. This gave me a file size of 2.39 GB.
I have a version 7 PS2 and swap magic 2.0 and the game was a no go. I just got the screen that said insert a valid PS2 disc. However, I have a friend that brought over his swap magic 3.3 disc and the game played flawlessly on my version 7 PS2.
I also have another friend with a version 4 PS2 and swap magic 2.0 and he was able to play the rebuilt game on his system without any problem.
So, at least in my case, it appears using swap magic 2.0 to play this game on "newer" PS2s doesn't work. Looks like it's time to upgrade to SM 3.6 unless a new DVDloader fix can be made for this game.

Click on the word WinRAR in your message, and it'll take you to a download page. Install it, then right click the rar file and click extract here.

49. Q. I'm rebuilding game X, I'm concerned it has dummy files. How do I identify the dummy files?
A. From Hursty: When you see the iso has dummy files.i.e 00DUMMY. 01DUMMY. GARBAGE ETC, you need to get rid of them, by replacing them with a file. So on the desktop, right click the mouse, select "new" > text document and rename it as it appears in isobuster, then click enter. Then open the text document on the desktop, hit space once, then save, this will create a text document with 1 byte in it, Do this for all the dummy files you have, as some games have more than one.
